## Professional refresh audit: 2026-10-17

**Scope:** current GitHub organization, public registry, canonical site source, target repository structures/context, outstanding work, and publication boundaries. This is a documentation and positioning audit, not scientific validation or a security review. Progress lives only in [ROADMAP.md](ROADMAP.md).

### Inventory and source authority

The live organization listing returned 15 repositories, all with `main` as default. Visibility was checked live. Public-safe role descriptions below come from the existing [organization registry](https://github.com/Root-Sequence/.github/blob/main/PROJECT_REGISTRY.yml) and public source. Private contents were inspected for boundaries but are not reproduced here.

| Repository | Visibility | Existing role / treatment in this refresh |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `root-sequence` | public | Conceptual commons and research coordination; owns this checklist and the canonical `site/` source. |
| `.github` | public | Organization profile, registry, contribution and stewardship defaults. |
| `liberated-intelligence` | public | Focused intelligence, agency, ownership, and non-domination inquiry. |
| `universal-coherence-framework` | public | Optional analytical framework; no universal validation claim. |
| `beinghumane-guide` | public | Public field-guide writing; separate from its private workbench. |
| `liberation-mass` | public | Embodied gathering and shared practice. |
| `existential-euphoria` | public | In-formation experiential/aesthetic work; no scope change or hold release. |
| `root-sequence-discussions` | public | Cross-project conversation and routing. |
| `wiki` | public | Names, provenance, relationships, and routes; not a duplicate research home. |
| `coherent-world` | private | Speculative systems, simulation, and narrative; retain project-local authority. |
| `coherent-computing` | private | Concept-first operating-system inquiry; retain project-local plan and gates. |
| `community-infrastructure` | private | Community-controlled systems research/design. |
| `beinghumane-atlas` | private | Editorial/research workbench; no automatic public export. |
| `wiki-private` | private | Private routing overlay. |
| `good-chaos-music` | private | Fictional music work; separate release decisions. |

Verified public base commits: `root-sequence` **5ba3593f9d1b335e9fbe29ee85eeb77e3a9d1b42**; `.github` **1f53db3ce3da497c402e5b076502ccffb089d71c**. The private target trees, READMEs, short introductions, and project context were checked through the connected GitHub service. Public projections use already-public descriptions, not private research details or evidence records.

`site/index.html` is the authoritative one-file page, with an exact-source publication gate in `site/build.py` and `site/approval.json`. Its approved September 25 edition supplies the structure, green palette, headline, wordmark, controls, selected research, and project panels for this refresh. A README contained contradictory approval/candidate statements; this refresh reconciles them around the unapproved new candidate.

### Outstanding work and reuse

There were **28 open PRs** organization-wide at audit time. All titles and descriptions were inspected for relevance. Changed-file lists were inspected for all **14 open PRs across the four target repositories**; deeper research review is not claimed. Branch listings were checked for those same four repositories. Closed historical branches were not treated as new work.

| Existing public work | Treatment / overlap |
| --- | --- |
| [root-sequence #40](https://github.com/Root-Sequence/root-sequence/pull/40), anticipation/surprise | Preserve current draft; no changes to its systems/concept files. |
| [#41](https://github.com/Root-Sequence/root-sequence/pull/41), representational legibility | Preserve canonical Legible Systems work; link current `main`, do not copy pending arguments. |
| [#42](https://github.com/Root-Sequence/root-sequence/pull/42), agency under stress | Reuse through a labelled draft route. Shares `research/README.md`; reconcile index additions before merge. |
| [#43](https://github.com/Root-Sequence/root-sequence/pull/43), commons collaboration | Preserve substantive `commons/README.md`. Shares root README; reconcile its commons navigation with the mission edit. |
| [#44](https://github.com/Root-Sequence/root-sequence/pull/44), intelligence without omniscience | Reuse through its existing draft PR; preserve notes, claims, graph, and lineage work. Shares research index. |
| [#45](https://github.com/Root-Sequence/root-sequence/pull/45), The Stoned Age | Reuse source/appraisal/claims package through its draft PR. Do not duplicate its paper, booklet, essay, or talk. Shares research index. |
| [.github #9](https://github.com/Root-Sequence/.github/pull/9), commons contribution/stewardship | Shares `profile/README.md`; preserve its canonical commons routing and reconcile profile text during review. It has a different substantive scope and is not silently replaced. |
| [.github #5](https://github.com/Root-Sequence/.github/pull/5), Commons of Inquiry registry seed | Registry-only; no registry or institutional-status change in Phase 1. |

The named `site-accessibility-editorial-review` branch adds a separate five-file review generator tied to an older multi-page candidate. It is not the current authoritative site and is not adopted as a second publishing system. The earlier `docs/clarify-org-profile-2026-09-18` and site README context-fix branches add no outstanding diff against current `main`. The earlier repository-coherence audit branch also adds no outstanding diff against current `main`.

Research drafts keep one substantive home. New material in `research/work-samples/` is explicitly a transformed proposal-development exercise, with links to existing sources and actual assistance/review limits.

### Baseline checks and practical findings

- Untouched base: **11/11 site checks passed**.
- Untouched base: reader-document checker reports **15 errors**, comprising one broken relative link and fourteen missing inbound links in living-paper notes. These are pre-existing, not introduced by this refresh. Fixing that paper requires its scoped instructions and a separate pass.
- Default and bundled Python lack PyYAML; the existing isolated validation environment supplies it for the generated Idea Trail index check. No project dependency change is needed.
- The organization bio read “A systems-oriented lab exploring root structures and unfolding sequences shaping systems, intelligence, technology, and reality.” at the initial audit. Rae has since approved the replacement wording below; live settings have not been changed.
- Current site links and research entry points already provide a useful baseline. Improve identity, claim-status visibility, and disclosure within that structure.

### Refresh compatibility review: 2026-10-17

After the six homepage descriptions completed passage review, the live heads and shared-file patches were checked again. All named PRs remain open, draft, and unmerged. `main` still points to the public base commits recorded above.

Local compatibility checks used Git's tree-only merge calculation. They created temporary Git objects and local review refs; they did not merge a branch, change either working tree, or update any existing research/commons PR. Each calculation compared the refresh with one older draft independently; this does not establish compatibility among all older drafts combined or approve their substance.

| Draft compared with refresh | Inspected head | Shared work | Result / retained intent |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| root #42 | `6329bfea8b9d25a3bf5845046f3313f17d063b57` | Research index | No textual conflict. Preserve its bounded agency-under-stress entry when that research is reviewed; keep the current labelled PR route while it remains unmerged. |
| root #43 | `6097553039e985d94a6460ea57fe105d38045f94` | Root README | No textual conflict. Its commons-proposal paragraph is an addition, not a replacement for the independent-research mission. |
| root #44 | `00f14ffd8fb8bffc0c551e1bab88b64c1f5c58b2` | Research index | No textual conflict. Preserve the research-area route and companion inquiries if that draft is later approved. |
| root #45 | `30748ee8db9bfde29fc0312a41b8f04edd98340d` | Research index | No textual conflict. Preserve its source/claim package in its existing home; a merged index route would replace its entry in the draft-only queue. |
| organization #9 versus #10 | #9 `e95fda37278b0b1f4d5a03be219f0bcf078d556c`; #10 `8989e7f156f6b2e9e9923eafe3c3d67d9c30abe9` | Organization README and profile | The README additions coexist. `profile/README.md` has a textual conflict between the rewritten introduction and the older commons paragraph. |

The root calculations used refresh head `d735d657fb3bd917c84e70ddea36e09414fc0782`, immediately before the Reading Trails wording update. That update changes only the last site's research description and its records, outside the older drafts' files.

**Profile resolution proposed for the next review:** retain #10's independent-research introduction and current project boundaries. Keep the commons proposal clearly labelled and linked to root #43 while it remains a draft, and fold #9's short profile-level invitation into that existing paragraph rather than appending a second overview. Preserve #9's substantive contribution/stewardship documents in their own review. Its links to the future `main` commons anchor require root #43 to land first, or a temporary route to that PR; neither dependency is resolved by this refresh.

The check itself did not close, rebase, or overwrite an older PR. The remaining profile conflict was resolved in the subsequent draft update below. Before any eventual merge, rerun compatibility checks on the then-current heads and check the research queue for duplicate or newly merged routes. Compatibility does not approve publication.

### Organization profile overlap resolved: 2026-10-17

The professional-refresh profile in organization #10 now contains one concise collaboration summary. It retains the independent-research mission and existing project boundaries, routes to the review-pending commons proposal, and keeps maintenance responsibility and decision powers provisional. Previously approved mission, research-method, evidence, and AI/accessibility passages are preserved verbatim. The new collaboration summary is prepared for PR review; it is not recorded as a separately approved passage.

The redundant profile-only paragraph has been removed from organization #9’s diff by restoring that file to its existing base version. Its four substantive guidance files (`README.md`, `CONTRIBUTING.md`, `PROJECT_STEWARDSHIP.md`, and `PULL_REQUEST_TEMPLATE.md`) remain byte-for-byte identical to #9’s original head. This preserves their separate review instead of including governance proposals in the professional refresh. The earlier profile wording remains recoverable in Git history.

Updated draft heads: #9 `36527befd9f1f5576966940e9b57ef7aa194167f`; #10 `71753723acc549d6014bd6170ed9d6ffe514cf43`. A fresh tree-only merge of those heads completes without a conflict. It preserves #10’s profile, both README additions, and all three other contribution/stewardship files. Neither branch is merged to `main`, force-updated, or closed. This does not adopt either proposal as operating governance.

The original #9 guidance still links to a proposed canonical commons anchor. Root #43 must be reviewed and accepted before those `main`-anchor links can resolve. That dependency remains explicit in #9’s description; resolving the profile conflict does not bypass it. Root research drafts #42, #44, and #45 also remain separately reviewable. Their substantive material has not been copied into the refresh.

### Proposed short organization bio

> Independent interdisciplinary research exploring how intelligence, technology, and social systems shape one another.

Rae approved this exact sentence from writing block `61582` on **2026-10-17 (Pacific)** by responding “indeed.” It reuses the agreed mission. The heading remains stable for existing links. Wording approval and a later live-settings change remain separate; no live bio change has been made. It does not assert an incorporated institute, funded team, academic affiliation, AIAF connection, completed study, or deployed product.

### Review boundary

Prepare two linked draft source PRs: the canonical repository/site/plan and the organization profile. Private projects remain in their own repositories. Do not merge, deploy, update live settings, release a held project, or overwrite `site/approval.json`. The existing Pages workflow runs on a merge to `main`; the candidate's release digest remains deliberately unapproved. Check [ROADMAP.md](ROADMAP.md) for final validation and review links.

## Website publication and organization README consistency: 2026-10-19

Rae explicitly approved website publication after reviewed source commit `0780c6d3ce846680b4485330df3e1dc0af1084bf`: “Website changes approved. Publish and continue with org readme consistency etc.” The approved page/publisher source was isolated in [website-only PR #47](https://github.com/Root-Sequence/root-sequence/pull/47), based on main `5ba3593f9d1b335e9fbe29ee85eeb77e3a9d1b42`, and merged as `b179a7fa56252dfd9fefbb3f93dcf1a9e1dd3ec6`. Only eight `site/` files changed. No research, portfolio, organization profile, workflow, DNS, mail, private source, or fictional canon was merged.

The page and publisher match the reviewed source digest `8dcd150886446fe180c985b87cc8f913b5d920ad81d8d422de208e46d634847e`; preview HTML is `b532f50c0b875f762d695a6d872553983d733d6209e360383ab64776be08eb36`. The explicit approval is recorded in `site/approval.json`. All 11 local publication checks pass, including rejection of missing, historical, and changed-source approval. The only approval-specific test update replaces the candidate-only rejection assertion with a current-record match and explicit historical rejection fixture. Other tests retain their previous checks. The approved release uses only the existing publication-state substitutions.

[Pages run 39211072192](https://github.com/Root-Sequence/root-sequence/actions/runs/39211072192) completed successfully. HTTPS `https://rootsequence.systems/` returns HTTP 200; `https://www.rootsequence.systems/` resolves to that same canonical URL. Both HTML responses match the local generated release SHA-256 `11688c47ffdde09879de721d6fe0982d2bc596ffaa5f0680334d05cd354cce8f`. The public manifest matches the approved source/release hashes and reviewer/date. Live robots.txt matches the generated indexable version. A browser load at 1575 × 897 shows the current mission and dark layout, `index, follow`, published footer, and no horizontal overflow. These checks verify this release, not all external project destinations or full accessibility conformance.

The remaining professional-refresh branch incorporates published main with all `site/` files retained exactly from main. This prevents a later documentation merge from restoring the obsolete approval gate or preview state. The canonical checklist remains `ROADMAP.md`; it is not duplicated into another planning location.

[Organization draft #10](https://github.com/Root-Sequence/.github/pull/10), head `7d772afaef9e99c089e1189f2148b1d6f9ff790e`, aligns the mission/About invitation with the approved site, retains the contextual founder and credit, expands its curated table to the same six research routes with the approved limits, and reuses all seven project descriptions with useful development/consent notes. Computing now covers computing systems and device lifecycle beyond operating-system design. The Museum’s independent status and real/archive-fiction permission boundary remain. Methods, evidence, and substantive AI/accessibility contributions are retained in one native disclosure. Existing wider-project routes and the pending commons proposal remain. The fuller accessibility link now targets the existing public assistance-record heading, avoiding a draft-only research-README fragment; Discussions uses the same public route as the site.

Checked all eleven unique linked root-sequence main file/fragment destinations against the public tree. The rendered GitHub draft shows six research entries and the approved project descriptions; keyboard opening of the methods disclosure reveals the retained contribution/evidence text. No private-project addresses or diagnosis disclosure were added. The org PR still changes only `README.md` and `profile/README.md`. Organization #9 head `36527befd9f1f5576966940e9b57ef7aa194167f` is unchanged, preserving the earlier ownership split; no substantive policy file was changed here. The README is saved for user review, not merged or applied to the live profile/bio. Writing follows the approved passages and explicit style preferences; a writing-reference retrieval tool was unavailable, so no retrieved personal-style match is claimed.

Publication completes P1-05; the prepared README consistency draft completes P1-10. P1-11 records review/publication of remaining documentation separately from applicant samples, which still await P2-04. Broader reader-document failures retain the earlier 15-error baseline; no new full-documentation audit or Wiki freshness/transfer work is claimed.

## Public repository cleanup: 2026-10-23

**Scope:** current public introductions, navigation, source-status wording, registry visibility, existing PR overlap, and publication candidates. This is an editorial/structural cleanup, not research validation, policy adoption, or legal review. [ROADMAP.md](ROADMAP.md) remains the only progress checklist.

The live accessible inventory contains 15 repositories: eight public and seven private. All 34 open-PR summaries were listed for scope; substantive research and governance drafts remain separate. The eight public repositories' README/on-ramp/context files were inspected, comprising 22 introductory documents. Their relative file targets resolve. This targeted check is not a claim that every historical page or external source across all repositories has been appraised.

| Public repository | Inspected main revision | Treatment |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `root-sequence` | `fa9abcabd36073b9706eca7056f68a9453e859c3` | README/research routes, Intelligence Ecology access notes, source-status clarity, and supporting-record navigation prepared in #46. |
| `.github` | `e244dd16002994fbb1abe0bf0c80933998846a92` | Reviewed organization introduction and current private/public registry prepared in #10. |
| `existential-euphoria` | `eb306d4e83d06790c53b3b6f0a90db227b193fcd` | In-formation status is explicit; introductory local targets resolve. |
| `universal-coherence-framework` | `e1c7b28803f58bea4a5b3a200063d5f579260b50` | Exploratory/author-review limits are explicit; homepage metadata needs repair. |
| `root-sequence-discussions` | `e93ec409bf3f490dbce47ae242921a5ccb276b1e` | Discussion routing and public/private boundaries are explicit; introductory local targets resolve. |
| `wiki` | `f15a718d932c1571d85396b85250b93d8953c6a4` | Existing strict-build repair extended with current public visibility in #15. |
| `beinghumane-guide` | `e7e8b35a7f13e15c041b53475a80aefbdb499437` | Developing field-guide status is explicit; homepage could not be verified. |
| `liberation-mass` | `4c791af6014a6ceedcb2e92cc4622f7a5076d485` | Experimental format and licensing inconsistency are disclosed in the orientation; homepage certificate and metadata need attention. |

### Prioritized public reading path

`concepts/intelligence-ecology.md` already identifies the selection-environment framing as a working hypothesis. The cleanup preserves the argument and section headings, makes clear that this page is not a report of empirical tests or a completed literature review, replaces four private-document links with explicit private-access notes, and links to the public research index and related working paper. No private document was copied and no unread external citation was added.

The main README uses the existing proposed navigation and approved positioning. The research index includes Intelligence Ecology and the already-public epistemic-discoverability concept with their limits. Existing AI/accessibility disclosure, incomplete author-review status, and the distinction between fiction and evidence remain. Current main's newer research and system-relative-limits work is incorporated through a two-parent review-branch update.

### Structural verification

The reader checker now passes 238 Markdown files, replacing its 15 recorded failures with zero errors. The fix is one corrected relative link plus links to fourteen existing T-003 supporting records from their current open-questions section. The existing manuscript argument, pilot results, and independent-review status are unchanged. All 11 site checks pass, and the Idea Trail graph/index is valid and current. The website source and publication gate are unchanged.

Wiki #15 retains its existing six-line orientation/build repair and adds current public routing: its generated public repository registry now contains eight repositories, and Liberated Intelligence is no longer advertised as a publicly accessible context. MkDocs 1.6.1 strict build and the existing public/private build-boundary check pass. Generated output contains 35 canonical entities and 14 project lenses. No private overlay is imported.

### Current access and unresolved decisions

Liberated Intelligence is now private. Rae clarified that it needs substantial revision and updates and is not ready for public inspection. The organization profile, ecosystem map, Wiki project index, and historical Root Sequence overview reflect that status. The historical overview is not presented as an account of the current drafts. No repository visibility was changed and no private contents were exported. Other known private projects retain their boundaries.

Live repository homepage checks found an HTTP 404 for UCF's `/ucf` page, a hostname certificate mismatch for `liberationmass.org`, and a timeout while verifying `beinghumane.guide`. A timeout does not establish permanent absence. The Wiki homepage returns HTTP 200. Corrected homepage/description values are prepared in the local review handoff; live settings are not changed by these source drafts.

Liberation Mass still has inconsistent source licensing labels (CC0 versus CC BY-SA for contributions); Existential Euphoria has no declared license in the inspected root. This pass does not choose licenses, alter existing grants, or adopt the separate research-stewardship proposals in root #50 / organization #12. Private/public Wiki completeness and freshness remain a later deliberate comparison.

### Release scope and preserved drafts

The two unreviewed applicant exercise files are preserved unchanged at `58002e0b547bac6e49b3b38b4c9a0171fe0e7d5a` on `review/work-samples-2026-10-23`. They are excluded from the documentation publication candidate, with their review route retained in the canonical plan. Existing root #46, organization #10, and Wiki #15 are reused; no additional cleanup PR is required. All three still need the user's explicit publication decision. No merge, deployment, policy adoption, private-source release, license change, or source-research endorsement is included.

## Current reality
-The repository contains active and historical writing, sourced research scaffolds, concepts, systems principles, analysis, futures, public artifacts, the Public Seed site source, and small navigation tools. The canonical research method formalizes the project’s route–synthesize–test–build workflow. Working, review-pending Epistemic Contrast and Deliberative Inquiry methods make the error-correcting layer explicit: broaden the model before convergence, route claims to stronger evidence and native methods, preserve dissent and uncertainty, and revise after observing consequences. The September 25 router-role website source has exact-source approval, and GitHub Actions successfully built and deployed the approved commit to GitHub Pages. That approval covers the website source and mechanical publication-state transformation only; it does not approve the underlying research papers or frameworks. GitHub Pages deployment is evidenced, but an independent browser fetch of the custom domain has not yet been recorded. The repository also temporarily hosts the public bootstrap seed for Commons of Inquiry & Creation under `incubator/`; that seed is explicitly non-canonical here, proposes a future standalone repository, and does not establish an operating institution. Maturity and evidence vary by document. Root Sequence is not a finished theory, validated universal model, deployed social system, or single doctrine.

# Root Sequence professional refresh

**Canonical progress checklist · started 2026-10-17 · Website published · Public documentation release candidates prepared**

This plan improves the public introduction to Root Sequence as an independent interdisciplinary research initiative started by Rae Lovejoy. Its exploratory writing, technical questions, social inquiry, and speculative work remain part of the project. The [research method](research/method.md), [repository map](root_map.md), and [ecosystem map](ECOSYSTEM.md) retain their existing authority.

This is the single checklist for this refresh. Project-specific backlogs remain local. `done` means the stated artifact or check is complete on the review branch, not approved, merged, published, or scientifically validated. Allowed statuses: **to do / in progress / done / blocked**. Update the row and evidence when the work changes.

## P0: establish the public baseline

| Check | ID | Status | Deliverable and evidence |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [x] | P0-01 | done | Audit all 15 accessible organization repositories, public registry, target repository trees/context, relevant branches, and all 28 open PR summaries. See the [dated audit](AUDIT.md#professional-refresh-audit-2026-10-17). Refreshed on 2026-10-23: 15 repositories by visibility, eight public introductions, and 34 open-PR summaries listed; see the [public cleanup audit](AUDIT.md#public-repository-cleanup-2026-10-23). |
| [x] | P0-02 | done | Inspect changed files for the 14 open PRs in the four target repositories; preserve draft research and existing canonical homes. |
| [x] | P0-03 | done | Record a version-controlled, prioritized plan here; link it from the README, short introduction, and context map. |
| [x] | P0-04 | done | Prepare consistent mission and positioning in the repository, existing `site/index.html`, and organization profile. Retain the headline, palette, wordmark, and seven-section structure. The opening layout is being refined through reader review (P1-08). |
| [x] | P0-05 | done | Explain methods, claim/evidence labels, AI assistance, actual inspection, and unfinished review in the [research index](research/README.md) and site. |
| [x] | P0-06 | done | Curate public research entry points with status/limits; route draft-only work to its existing PR instead of inventing `main` links or copying it. |
| [x] | P0-07 | done | Prepare organization profile consistency in `Root-Sequence/.github/profile/README.md`; record a proposed short bio for later approval. |
| [x] | P0-08 | done | Validate site, preview, script hashes, navigation, and changed links. Compare repository documentation failures against the untouched base. |
| [x] | P0-09 | done | Inspect wide and narrow browser layouts, keyboard navigation, disclosures, and project panels. Record remaining accessibility limits. |
| [x] | P0-10 | done | Open and verify linked draft PRs. The initial review boundary was preserved; Rae subsequently approved the website-only publication recorded in P1-05. Other draft/publication decisions and live organization settings remain separate. |

## P1: supported review and publication decisions

| Check | ID | Status | Decision / next action |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [x] | P1-01 | done | Rae approved the mission, site/README accessibility and contribution passages, research-method introduction, and revised evidence wording on 2026-10-17 (Pacific). All are applied to the review drafts. These passage approvals do not approve the research corpus or website release. |
| [x] | P1-02 | done | Rae confirmed on 2026-10-17 (Pacific) that draft-only research stays in the clearly labelled repository review queue for Phase 1. The homepage keeps its existing six entry points to material already on `main`; being merged does not establish research validity or complete author review. |
| [x] | P1-07 | done | **6/6 homepage research entries approved and applied** to HTML and English translation data. Each was checked against its canonical source and reviewed as a short passage. See the approval records below. This completes description review, not research validation or website publication approval. |
| [x] | P1-09 | done | **7/7 related-project descriptions reviewed and applied**, including Root Sequence Wiki. Descriptions retain project-specific roles, development limits, and consent boundaries. [Latest passage record](site/COPY-REVIEW.md#accepted-wiki-description-and-next-review-october-17-2026-pacific). This completes entry wording, not full-page or publication approval. |
| [x] | P1-03 | done | Current refresh overlaps reconciled. Organization #10 owns the profile summary; #9 retains its four substantive guidance files unchanged and no longer edits the profile. Their combined tree passes without conflict. Root #42–#45 remain individually compatible with the refresh. See the [reconciliation record](AUDIT.md#organization-profile-overlap-resolved-2026-10-17). Older proposals and their dependencies still require separate review. |
| [x] | P1-04 | done | Rae approved the single-sentence organization bio on 2026-10-17 (Pacific). See the [wording record in the audit](AUDIT.md#proposed-short-organization-bio). Live organization settings remain unchanged; wording approval does not authorize a settings change. |
| [x] | P1-08 | done | Supported site review complete: Take part, **4/4 footer passages and 7/7 panel refinements applied**. Read the seven-section flow; checked wide/narrow layout, section navigation and focus, native disclosures, reading controls, project panels, and script-free reading. See the [page-pass record](site/COPY-REVIEW.md#wiki-panel-and-full-page-review-october-18-2026-pacific) and [validation](site/VALIDATION.md#wiki-panel-and-full-page-review-2026-10-18-pacific). Full accessibility review and Rae’s exact-source decision remain separate. |
| [x] | P1-10 | done | Prepare and verify organization-profile consistency in [draft #10](https://github.com/Root-Sequence/.github/pull/10), head `2c95531feddbb27ab66958d9b6ad1a9e4c5dbd36`. Reuse the approved site opening/invitation and project passages, preserve all six research limits, broaden Computing beyond OS-only scope, contextualize the founder, and retain AI/accessibility disclosure in native details. Fix the fuller-explanation link to an existing public section. Rendered draft and public-tree paths checked; publication remains for P1-11. |
| [x] | P1-05 | done | Rae explicitly approved website publication on 2026-10-19 (UTC). [Website-only PR #47](https://github.com/Root-Sequence/root-sequence/pull/47) merged as `b179a7fa56252dfd9fefbb3f93dcf1a9e1dd3ec6`; [Pages run](https://github.com/Root-Sequence/root-sequence/actions/runs/39211072192) succeeded. Live HTTPS apex and www return the exact generated release. The approval record matches the reviewed source; the gate still rejects historical/stale approval. No other draft or research endorsement follows. |
| [ ] | P1-11 | in progress | Public documentation release candidates are prepared in existing [root #46](https://github.com/Root-Sequence/root-sequence/pull/46), [profile #10](https://github.com/Root-Sequence/.github/pull/10), and [Wiki #15](https://github.com/Root-Sequence/wiki/pull/15). The 2026-10-23 cleanup request authorizes the batch editorial preparation; new navigation, visibility labels, and source-status clarifications await whole-document publication approval. Previously approved mission, methods, evidence, and AI/accessibility passages are retained. Unreviewed applicant exercises are preserved on `review/work-samples-2026-10-23` and excluded from the release. Homepage/description settings need their separate live-settings decision. Research, licensing, governance, and private-Wiki changes are not adopted here. |
| [x] | P1-06 | done | Repair the 15 existing reader-check failures: correct one relative link and connect fourteen existing T-003 supporting records from their current open-questions section. The checker now passes all 238 Markdown files. Paper findings, author review, and the independent-comparison boundary remain unchanged. |

## P2: small applicant work-samples track

The public baseline has priority. This track demonstrates source handling and proposal development; it does not redefine Root Sequence around an employer or claim an AIAF affiliation.

| Check | ID | Status | Deliverable and evidence |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [x] | P2-01 | done | Check the [employer's Technical Grant Writer description](https://job-boards.greenhouse.io/aiaf/jobs/6205780004), 2026-10-17: proposal structure, technical comprehension, uncertainty, and AI-assisted writing with accountable quality. |
| [x] | P2-02 | done | Create a compact [work-samples route](https://github.com/Root-Sequence/root-sequence/blob/58002e0b547bac6e49b3b38b4c9a0171fe0e7d5a/research/work-samples/README.md) reusing existing public source maps, claims ledgers, research drafts, and revision history. Preserved on `review/work-samples-2026-10-23`; excluded from the public documentation release. |
| [x] | P2-03 | done | Prepare one source-traceable proposal-development note with a question, proposed method, milestones, alternative explanations, and limits. Label it an unexecuted exercise, not a funded project or research result. |
| [ ] | P2-04 | to do | Rae reviews the sample and confirms retained claims and contribution wording with source passages available. |
| [ ] | P2-05 | to do | Add a technical AI/ML paper brief after selected-section reading and domain review. The first conceptual note alone does not establish technical ML proficiency. |
| [ ] | P2-06 | to do | Tailor selected samples, CV, fit statement, and availability to the current application. No application submission, employer contact, or credential claim is included here. |

## P3: later Wiki reconciliation

Queued after the public-facing baseline. Freshness and completeness of either Wiki layer have not been established by the site-description review. Canonical project repositories and relevant open drafts must be compared with both layers before selecting updates. This plan records later work; no Wiki entries have been transferred.

| Check | ID | Status | Deliverable and evidence |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [ ] | P3-01 | to do | Audit freshness and coverage across the public Wiki, private layer, canonical project repositories, and relevant open drafts. Record source revisions, stale or conflicting entries, missing routes, and unresolved provenance in an appropriate private audit location. Extend existing maintenance records where suitable. |
| [ ] | P3-02 | to do | Prepare small, source-linked candidate updates for private review before public draft PRs. Confirm wording, provenance, visibility, and canonical placement with Rae; preserve stable entity IDs and keep substantive work in its project home. Public builds continue to consume only public sources. |

The public [Wiki overlay contract](https://github.com/Root-Sequence/wiki/blob/main/PRIVATE_OVERLAY.md) defines the shared identities and visibility boundary. Source comparison is still to do; recent activity alone does not establish that the private layer is current. Suitable material can be deliberately transformed for public use after review.

## Approved mission wording

Rae approved this exact sentence in chat on **2026-10-17 (Pacific)**, responding “sounds perfect actually” to the selected mission sentence:

> Root Sequence is an independent interdisciplinary research initiative started by Rae Lovejoy, exploring how intelligence, technology, and social systems shape one another.

This records approval of the mission sentence. The accessibility and AI-contribution wording, research-method introduction, and evidence wording were subsequently approved as recorded below. Work-sample endorsement, merging, and exact-source website publication remain separate pending decisions.

## Approved accessibility and contribution wording

On **2026-10-17 (Pacific)**, Rae approved the proposed site and README wording by responding “love” after requesting a draft before implementation. The approved versions are writing blocks `76142` (site) and `58317` (fuller README) in the project chat. They adapt the existing [accessibility explanation](research/papers/coherent-systems/AI-ASSISTANCE.md#why-i-use-ai-accessibility-and-developing-the-work).

The approved site text is applied to the existing disclosure panel and the organization profile. The full approved README text is applied to [research/README.md](research/README.md#accessibility-ai-assistance-and-contributions), with a concise route from the main README. This records approval of these passages and their implementation in draft PRs. It does not approve every research claim, the work sample, or the exact website source for release.

## Approved research-method wording

On **2026-10-17 (Pacific)**, Rae approved the two-paragraph research approach in writing block `19546` and explicitly requested its implementation before moving to evidence wording. The exact passage is applied to the site's existing disclosure panel, the research README, and the organization-profile draft. The canonical detailed research method remains in `research/method.md`; this is its public introduction, not a claim of a validated method or approval of individual research results.

## Approved evidence wording

On **2026-10-17 (Pacific)**, Rae approved the revised two-paragraph evidence passage in writing block `47208` and explicitly requested its application to the drafts. The exact wording is applied to the site disclosure, research README, and organization profile. It explains source inspection and interpretation, then distinguishes proposed tests from reported results. It does not establish that any particular source has been appraised or any study replicated.

Rae also requested more natural prose throughout the drafts, without repeated list rhythms. Nearby introductions were edited for that preference. Previously approved mission, method, and accessibility/contribution wording remains verbatim. Reference tables and genuine reference lists remain where they help readers find material.

## Approved homepage research-method entry

On **2026-10-17 (Pacific)**, Rae approved writing block `92184` and explicitly requested its application to the draft. The title is now “How Root Sequence approaches a question.” Its description and development-status sentence are applied verbatim to the existing homepage entry and English translation data. The link still points to the canonical `research/method.md`. This approves the entry wording; it does not validate the workflow or authorize website publication.

## Approved homepage working-paper entry

On **2026-10-17 (Pacific)**, Rae approved writing block `68425` and explicitly requested its application to the draft. The description and review-status sentence are applied verbatim to the existing “Coherence Is a Systems Property” entry and English translation data. Its title and source destination are unchanged. The adaptive-continuity / dynamic-coherence description is next for review. This approves the public description; the canonical paper and its substantive author-review status remain unchanged.

## Approved homepage adaptive-continuity entry

On **2026-10-17 (Pacific)**, Rae approved writing block `32716` and explicitly requested its application to the draft. The description and review-status sentence are applied verbatim to the existing “Adaptive continuity and dynamic coherence” entry and English translation data. Its title and canonical source link remain unchanged. The epistemic-discoverability / knowledge-routing entry is next for review. This is passage approval; the underlying framework remains an AI-assisted synthesis with author review incomplete.

## Approved homepage knowledge-routing entry

On **2026-10-17 (Pacific)**, Rae approved writing block `74863` and explicitly requested its application to the draft. The description and review-status sentence are applied verbatim to the existing “Epistemic discoverability and knowledge routing” entry and English translation data. Its title and canonical source link remain unchanged. Legible Systems is next for review. This approves the public description; it does not validate the underlying design proposal or authorize website publication.

## Approved homepage Legible Systems entry

On **2026-10-17 (Pacific)**, Rae approved writing block `96184` by responding “perfect.” The description and status sentence are applied verbatim to the existing Legible Systems entry and English translation data. The title and canonical source link remain unchanged. Reading Trails is the last entry awaiting review. This approves the public description, not the design principle’s efficacy or exact-source website publication.

## Approved homepage Reading Trails entry

On **2026-10-17 (Pacific)**, Rae approved writing block `50297` and explicitly requested its application to the draft. The description and status sentence are applied verbatim to the existing Reading Trails entry and English translation data. Its title and canonical source link remain unchanged. All six homepage research descriptions have now completed passage review. This does not approve the resources’ contents, the underlying research corpus, or exact-source website publication.

## Approved short organization bio

On **2026-10-17 (Pacific)**, Rae approved writing block `61582` by responding “indeed.”

> Independent interdisciplinary research exploring how intelligence, technology, and social systems shape one another.

This completes wording review (P1-04). It does not authorize a live organization-bio change. The wording remains in this review branch until Rae separately requests its publication.

## Accepted About explanation and invitation

On **2026-10-17 (Pacific)**, Rae accepted writing block `86204` by replying “better” and requested inclusion of the earlier invitation: “You can follow work already underway or bring a question of your own.” The two-sentence explanation is applied verbatim as the About lead, followed by the invitation as a separate paragraph before the topic examples. The founder credit is in the existing Credits and reuse disclosure. This is approval of the explanation and invitation; broader layout review (P1-08) and exact-source publication remain separate.

## Review package and update log

- 2026-10-17: checklist created after live audit. Public source work is on `docs/professional-refresh-phase-1-2026-10-17`; private project material remains in its existing repositories.
- 2026-10-17 (Pacific): Rae confirmed the repository-only placement of draft-only research (P1-02 complete) and requested review of the homepage research descriptions. P1-07 now tracks that review. The first proposed passage introduces the research method; the website source remains unchanged pending passage review.
- Source/copy preparation and selected browser checks completed. The 11 site tests and Idea Trail graph/index pass; reader-check failures match the 15-error base. See [site validation](site/VALIDATION.md). Both draft PRs are open, unmerged, and mergeable at verification.

- Review the canonical repository first, then the profile. The profile overlap has been reconciled; existing research and commons drafts remain open for separate substantive review.
- **Next supported review:** Inspect the three completed documentation candidates and approve their publication as a bounded batch. Root #46 includes the existing public Intelligence Ecology page’s reading-path repair, clear README navigation, and the 15 documentation fixes. Profile #10 and Wiki #15 reflect current repository visibility. Separate homepage/description proposals are in the local review handoff. Work-sample review and private/public Wiki reconciliation remain later work.

Current status: **23 done, 5 to do, 1 in progress, 0 blocked** across 29 tasks. P1-06 navigation repair is complete. P1-11 remains in progress for the final documentation and live-settings publication decisions. No merge or deployment follows from the cleanup request alone.

## Accepted name context and first related-project description

On **2026-10-17 (Pacific)**, Rae approved writing blocks `30857` (contextual name introduction in the AI/accessibility paragraph) and `69418` (Coherent World), explicitly requesting their application to the draft. Both are applied verbatim in the visible HTML and English translation data. The founder credit remains in Credits and reuse, and Coherent World retains its private/speculative status and existing novel link. **Related-project passage review: 1/7 complete; No One Noticed next.** P1-08 remains in progress; no new task or publication approval is implied.

## Accepted No One Noticed description

On **2026-10-17 (Pacific)**, Rae approved writing block `83520` and explicitly requested its application to the draft. The exact passage is applied to HTML and English translation data, including the shared project-panel summary. The novel remains in progress with no public site. **Related-project passage review: 2/7 complete; Coherent Computing next.** P1-08 remains in progress, and publication approval remains a separate pending decision.

## Accepted revised Coherent Computing description

On **2026-10-17 (Pacific)**, Rae approved the revised writing block `46179` after clarifying that the research extends beyond an OS-only summary. The exact broader passage is applied to HTML and English translation data, including the shared project-panel summary. The private design work and implementation hold remain untouched; its “Computing research · No public release” label is retained. **Related-project passage review: 3/7 complete; Community Infrastructure next.** P1-08 remains in progress, and exact-source publication approval remains a separate pending decision.

## Accepted Community Infrastructure and concise project openings

On **2026-10-17 (Pacific)**, Rae accepted writing block `57203` with “Explores” replacing the repeated Community Infrastructure name, and requested equivalent concise openings for Coherent Computing (“Explores”) and Coherent World (“Brings”). All three are applied in HTML and English translation data, retaining the rest of the accepted passages and existing status labels. **Related-project passage review: 4/7 complete; Being Human(e) next.** P1-08 remains in progress; exact-source publication approval remains separate.

## Being Human(e) passage and provisional status

On **2026-10-17 (Pacific)**, Rae authorized applying writing block `72841` and the updated “Practical field guide · In development” status, clarifying that the guide is not authoritative. The description is applied verbatim, and its panel explicitly says the observations are provisional and open to disagreement and revision. The old unverified website-not-built claim is removed; no new external link or private Atlas material is added. **Related-project passage review: 5/7 complete; Museum of Ordinary Life next.** P1-08 remains in progress; exact-source publication approval remains separate.

## Accepted Museum of Ordinary Life description

On **2026-10-17 (Pacific)**, Rae approved writing block `60427` and requested its application to the draft. The exact passage is applied to HTML and English translation data, including the shared project-panel summary. The independent-archive label and existing panel explanation of separate fictional-reuse permissions remain. No Museum source, collection permissions, or story canon is changed. **Related-project passage review: 6/7 complete; Root Sequence Wiki next.** P1-08 remains in progress, and exact-source publication approval remains separate.

## Accepted Wiki description and later reconciliation plan

On **2026-10-17 (Pacific)**, Rae approved writing block `81962` and requested its application to the draft. The exact passage is applied to HTML and English translation data, including the shared project-panel summary. **All 7/7 related-project descriptions are reviewed and applied; P1-09 is done.** P1-08 remains in progress for closing copy, page notes, panels, and full-page flow. A factual maintenance correction removes an obsolete reference to light-theme controls from Reading help.

Rae also identified later work to bring suitable material from the private Wiki into public view, subject to checking whether the private layer is itself current. P3-01 and P3-02 queue source reconciliation and privately reviewed publication candidates. Only architecture/collaboration boundaries were consulted here; no Wiki freshness audit or content transfer was performed. Exact-source website publication approval remains separate.

## Accepted Take part wording

On **2026-10-17 (Pacific)**, Rae approved writing block `36791` and requested its application before footer review. The exact introduction, discussion and correction passages, link labels, and public-route note are applied to HTML and English translation data. The existing Discussions, issues, and contribution-guide URLs remain, along with explanatory panels and the note that nothing is submitted from this page. No private contact route is added. P1-08 remains in progress; the footer is next, starting with Sources and page history. Exact-source publication approval remains separate.

## Accepted Sources and page history wording

On **2026-10-18 (Pacific)**, Rae approved writing block `92508` and requested its application before reviewing Accessibility and reading choices. The four paragraphs are applied verbatim to visible HTML and English data, with source links placed within the prose. The obsolete fixed-revision claim is removed; the earlier paper review remains linked as a historical discussion. P1-08 stays in progress (1/4 footer passages complete). The builder’s preview/publication wording is updated for the new draft sentence and source date, while `approval.json` remains unchanged and publication remains blocked pending separate exact-source approval.

## Accepted Accessibility and reading choices wording

On **2026-10-18 (Pacific)**, Rae approved writing block `43872` and requested its application before reviewing Privacy and this preview. The exact reading-controls paragraph, JavaScript/translation explanation, accessibility target and unfinished-review qualification, and reporting link are applied to visible HTML and English data. The W3C references are inline; all destinations and the native disclosure remain. P1-08 stays in progress (2/4 footer passages complete). This approves explanatory prose, not WCAG conformance, a completed accessibility audit, or website publication.

## Accepted Privacy and this preview wording

On **2026-10-18 (Pacific)**, Rae accepted writing block `70629` by responding “good, next.” The approved four paragraphs are applied to visible HTML and English data, including emphasis on Reading. They describe page behavior, local reading choices, preview status, and the unverified hosting-policy boundary. The builder’s publication-state substitutions are updated for the changed preview wording; the historical exact-source approval is unchanged. P1-08 remains in progress (3/4 footer passages complete); Credits and reuse is next. This prose acceptance does not approve publication or establish provider logging practices.

## Accepted Credits and reuse wording

On **2026-10-18 (Pacific)**, Rae accepted writing block `58216` by responding “Nice, next.” The exact founder credit, scoped CC0/reuse explanation, and font credit are applied as three paragraphs in visible HTML and English data. All four existing destinations remain, with references inline. **Footer wording: 4/4 reviewed and applied.** P1-08 remains in progress for project-panel context and full-page review. No license, permissions, research status, or publication approval is changed.

## Accepted Coherent World panel refinement

On **2026-10-18 (Pacific)**, Rae approved writing block `64930` and explicitly requested its application before reviewing the No One Noticed panel. The approved project description remains unchanged. Its repetitive extra paragraph is removed, and the access note now reads: “The project is being developed privately. There’s no separate public website linked here.” The shared renderer supports an absent extra paragraph without an empty row; the script CSP hash is updated. The obsolete World-specific preview/release substitution is removed because this access wording works in either edition. No private material, project status, historical approval, or publication state changes. P1-08 remains in progress; No One Noticed is next.

## Accepted No One Noticed panel refinement

On **2026-10-18 (Pacific)**, Rae accepted writing block `97625` by responding “ok.” The approved science-fiction description and type remain unchanged. Its repeated extra paragraph is removed, and the status note reads: “The manuscript is still in development. There’s no public website linked here.” The existing optional-extra behavior omits the removed paragraph without an empty row. The configuration change’s script CSP hash is updated, and the obsolete novel-specific preview/publication substitution is removed. No manuscript, canon, historical approval, or publication state changes. P1-08 remains in progress; Coherent Computing is next.

## Accepted Coherent Computing panel refinement

On **2026-10-18 (Pacific)**, Rae approved writing block `85306` and explicitly requested its application before Community Infrastructure panel review. The exact note reads: “This is research and design work. There’s no public release to try yet.” It replaces the extra paragraph using the existing development-note style. The approved broader computing-system/lifecycle description and no-public-release type remain unchanged. Only the panel configuration and note data change, with the script CSP hash refreshed. No Computing project source, implementation hold, historical approval, or publication state changes. P1-08 remains in progress; Community Infrastructure is next.

## Accepted Community Infrastructure panel refinement

On **2026-10-18 (Pacific)**, Rae approved writing block `42851` and explicitly requested its application before Being Human(e) panel review. The note reads: “These are design proposals in private development. There’s no public service linked here.” It replaces the repeated extra paragraph using the existing development-note style. The approved description and private-development type remain unchanged. Only Community’s panel configuration and note data change, with the script CSP hash refreshed. No Community project source, private material, historical approval, or publication state changes. Being Human(e)’s public repository and START-HERE were verified for a proposed reading link; the panel and guide remain unchanged pending review. P1-08 stays in progress.

## Accepted Being Human(e) panel refinement

On **2026-10-18 (Pacific)**, Rae approved writing block `73608` and explicitly requested its application before Museum panel review. The approved description, in-development type, and provisional note remain verbatim. Removed the long extra paragraph and added “Explore the guide on GitHub” linking to the verified public `Root-Sequence/beinghumane-guide` repository. Project actions now support an optional label while existing website actions keep their default label. The CSP hash is refreshed. No guide source, private Atlas material, historical approval, or publication state changes. P1-08 remains in progress; Museum permissions context is next.

## Accepted Museum of Ordinary Life panel refinement

On **2026-10-18 (Pacific)**, Rae accepted writing block `62749` by responding “ok nice.” The exact permission note is applied, naming No One Noticed and retaining the boundary between real-archive sharing and fictional reuse. The approved description, independent-archive type, and website link remain unchanged. The note uses the shared qualifier style; only its configuration and English entry change, with CSP refreshed. No Museum source, contributor permission, license, historical approval, or publication state changes. P1-08 remains in progress (6/7 panel refinements applied); the Wiki’s repeated paragraph is next, followed by full-page review.

## Wiki panel and supported page pass

On **2026-10-18 (Pacific)**, Rae accepted the proposed Wiki repetition cut by replying “Ok, continue.” The cut is applied, completing 7/7 panel refinements. The seven-section flow and selected wide/narrow, keyboard, reading-control, and script-free checks are complete. See the [dated record](site/COPY-REVIEW.md#wiki-panel-and-full-page-review-october-18-2026-pacific). This completes P1-08, with full accessibility review and exact-source publication acceptance still separate. P1-10 records the remaining companion-profile consistency work; its OS-only Coherent Computing introduction needs to reflect the broader approved scope.

## Website publication and README consistency: October 19, 2026 (UTC)

Rae explicitly instructed: “Website changes approved. Publish and continue with org readme consistency etc.” This supersedes the earlier website-only publication hold. It does not approve the research corpus, applicant exercise, organization-profile draft, or other repository changes for merging.

Published the reviewed page/publisher digest `8dcd150886446fe180c985b87cc8f913b5d920ad81d8d422de208e46d634847e` through website-only PR #47. The local approved release and live apex/www HTML share SHA-256 `11688c47ffdde09879de721d6fe0982d2bc596ffaa5f0680334d05cd354cce8f`. Pages run `39211072192` succeeded; a browser load confirms the current mission, `index, follow`, published footer, and no desktop overflow. See the [release receipt](AUDIT.md#website-publication-and-organization-readme-consistency-2026-10-19).

Organization draft #10 now reuses the approved site framing, invitation, project descriptions and evidence limits. Its founder reference has context, its Computing summary retains the wider lifecycle scope, and the AI/accessibility explanation stays available in native details. Six research entries are curated without changing their evidence status. The public source/fragment destinations resolve in current main; the fuller accessibility route no longer depends on an unpublished README heading. The rendered GitHub disclosure opens by keyboard. This is a prepared consistency draft, not publication approval. The canonical website source on this branch is reconciled exactly with published main; older dated review records retain their historical limits.

## Accepted organization README opening: October 19, 2026 (UTC)

Rae accepted writing block `49216` by responding “ok.” Its revised middle paragraph is applied verbatim to `Root-Sequence/.github/profile/README.md` in draft #10, commit `9928465d37767c297c2db4d94c4b663cd38c4a20`:

> The work asks how the systems we build shape what becomes possible next. This means looking beyond whether a design achieves its immediate goal to consider how it changes the conditions people depend on.

The mission and invitation remain unchanged. A source diff confirms that this paragraph is the only profile-file change; the GitHub-rendered draft shows the accepted text. No website source, live organization profile, research status, or other project content changes. P1-11 is in progress. The next proposal reviews “Read one part” and its navigation descriptions while retaining the existing destinations; no navigation change has been applied. Passage approval does not authorize publishing the whole organization README or remaining repository drafts.

## Accepted organization README navigation: October 19, 2026 (UTC)

Rae accepted writing block `64283` and explicitly requested application and continued review. The exact “Where to begin” heading, six link descriptions, and Discussions public/account/privacy note are applied in existing organization draft #10, commit `16b13249bddad95c1351d52c23ff22d9f215efae`. Source comparison confirms that all seven navigation destinations, including the methods/evidence/AI-use fragment, are unchanged and later sections are untouched. The rendered GitHub draft shows the new heading, descriptions, and participation note.

P1-11 remains in progress. The selected-research heading and research-method description are next for short passage review; their source is not changed. The current evidence/review limits remain. Existing root #46 and organization #10 are reused, with no additional PR, merge, deployment, or wider-backlog consolidation. Passage approval remains separate from whole-profile publication.

## Accepted organization research heading and method entry: October 19, 2026 (UTC)

Rae accepted block `84526` by replying “Nice,” continuing the established passage-review sequence. Applied its exact “Selected research and writing” heading and research-method description in existing organization draft #10, commit `8b44b6a9b2dbb987b101f5f7364e42b2306bcc29`:

> A guide to examining a connection between ideas and finding research that can help us assess it.

The method link, column labels, and explicit developing/unestablished-usefulness note remain. Source comparison confirms that all destinations and the five later rows are unchanged; the GitHub-rendered heading/row matches the accepted text. README research-row review is 1/6 complete under P1-11, separate from the previously completed homepage-description review and any scientific validation.

The working-paper row is next. Its canonical living-paper charter was checked for the institutional context and existing AI-assisted/author-review/peer-review limits before proposing a concise description. No manuscript, website, remaining table row, source-inspection record, or review status changes. Both existing PRs remain draft; no additional PR or merge is included.

## Accepted organization working-paper entry: October 19, 2026 (Pacific)

Rae accepted block `69137` by replying “ok.” Applied its exact working-paper description in existing organization draft #10, commit `a394d11409bfe0b68067dc8dd5b28c44701859ce`:

> Explores how the institutions around an intelligent system shape what it does, including problems that can arise even when it meets its operator’s goal.

The paper link and its AI-assisted/incomplete-author/no-peer-review qualification remain unchanged. Source comparison confirms that the description is the only profile change; the rendered GitHub row matches the accepted wording. README research-row review is 2/6 complete under P1-11. This approves the public description, not the underlying manuscript or research claims.

Adaptive continuity and dynamic coherence is next. The canonical framework’s working orientation, history/path-dependence map, continuity vocabulary, and evidence boundary were checked before proposing a concise description. The AI-assisted synthesis and cross-field-mechanism qualifications remain. No framework, website, remaining table row, evidence status, private source, additional PR, or publication change is included.

## Accepted organization adaptive-continuity entry: October 19, 2026 (Pacific)

Rae accepted block `97204` by replying “ok.” Applied its exact adaptive-continuity/dynamic-coherence description in existing organization draft #10, commit `20a494074d67ab0292470cb96151bf55d807a6fb`:

> Explores how earlier changes shape a system’s options, and how it can adapt while preserving or rebuilding its capacity to continue.

The framework link and AI-assisted/incomplete-author/cross-field-mechanism qualifications remain. Source comparison confirms that only this description changed; the GitHub-rendered row matches the accepted wording. README research-row review is 3/6 complete under P1-11, separate from approval or validation of the framework itself.

Epistemic discoverability and knowledge routing is next. The canonical working design concept’s core question and evidence boundary were read to ground its proposed short description; this is not a new appraisal of its cited literature. The existing AI-assisted-design-proposal and unestablished-usefulness qualifications remain. No framework, website, other row, evidence status, additional PR, or publication change is included.

## Accepted organization knowledge-routing entry: October 19, 2026 (Pacific)

Rae accepted block `31857` by replying “ok.” Applied its exact epistemic-discoverability/knowledge-routing description in existing organization draft #10, commit `bf2fb08995b4bcc0bdd6652e14b6ad10e9df5e00`:

> A design concept for finding relevant research when you don’t yet know the terms to search for. Suggested routes should explain why they might help.

The concept link and AI-assisted-design-proposal/incomplete-author/unestablished-usefulness qualification remain. Source comparison confirms that only this description changed; the GitHub-rendered row matches the accepted text. README research-row review is 4/6 complete under P1-11. The underlying proposal’s review/evidence status is unchanged.

Legible Systems is next. The canonical design principle’s core idea, progressive-legibility explanation, and evidence boundary were read to ground the next short description. No new usability result or appraisal of external guidance is claimed. Its developing-design/evaluation-needed qualification remains. No website, source concept, other row, extra PR, merge, or publication change is included.

## Accepted organization Legible Systems entry: October 19, 2026 (Pacific)

Rae accepted block `46380` by replying “ok.” Applied its exact Legible Systems description in existing organization draft #10, commit `54e187e6724bd15e200d7b4d6a6b78b31c0e8b91`:

> Design guidance for systems that are straightforward to use, with deeper explanations available when you need to repair a fault or question a decision.

The source link and developing-design/usability-evaluation-needed qualification remain. Source comparison confirms that only this description changed; the GitHub-rendered row matches the accepted wording. README research-row review is 5/6 complete under P1-11. Passage approval does not validate the principle or establish a usability result.

Reading Trails is the final research row awaiting review. Its canonical index’s purpose, suggested reading paths, and inclusion/evidence boundary were read for the next concise description; this is not a new audit of its linked resources or their freshness. Its developing-collection/AI-assisted-starter/author-review and claim-evidence qualifications remain. No website, source principle, other row, extra PR, merge, or publication change is included.

## Organization Reading Trails entry applied: October 20, 2026 (Pacific)

Rae requested “continue” after proposed block `73591`. Following the established apply-and-review sequence, its exact Reading Trails description is applied in existing organization draft #10, commit `3bcfbbff68d75db61622a849cc27890a98403d06`:

> Keeps track of places worth exploring that turn up during research. The notes explain why a resource might be useful and suggest somewhere to begin.

The source link and developing-collection/AI-assisted-starter/author-review/claim-evidence qualification remain. Scoped source comparison confirms that only this description changed, all six evidence notes match their prior text, and all destinations are retained. The committed README was fetched at its exact commit and matches the staged text byte-for-byte. No browser render or full test suite was rerun for this prose-only edit.

README research-row review is 6/6 complete under P1-11; the organization profile as a whole remains in draft. The next proposed passage addresses the existing “Projects keep their own scope” heading and its registry introduction. Its existing project registry and ecosystem map were read for fit. The seven homepage project descriptions already carry across; the three extra entries (Liberated Intelligence, Universal Coherence Framework, Liberation Mass) remain for focused wording review. No project framing change is applied yet. No new PR, merge, website/source-research edit, evidence-status change, or publication is included.

## Accepted organization project-section opening: October 20, 2026 (Pacific)

Rae accepted block `86420` by replying “ok.” Applied its heading and introduction verbatim in existing organization draft #10, commit `caa55adfff28d33e1386d646ac24901f971dd507`:

> ## Selected related projects
>
> These projects share questions and each sets its own direction. The [project registry](https://github.com/Root-Sequence/.github/blob/main/PROJECT_REGISTRY.yml) records where their work is maintained.

Scoped source comparison confirms that only this heading and introduction changed. All link destinations, project descriptions, and six research evidence notes remain. Exact-commit GitHub source readback matches the staged text. No browser render or full test suite was rerun for this prose-only edit.

P1-11 remains in progress. Liberated Intelligence is next, the first of three additional entries absent from the homepage; all six research rows and the project-section framing are now reviewed and applied. Its current public README was read to ground a short proposal in its research and creative inquiry, with possible personhood remaining an open question. This source read does not validate a consciousness claim or establish a working/released system. The next description is proposed in chat and has not been applied. Both existing drafts remain for review; no new PR, merge, website/source-research edit, evidence-status change, or full-profile publication is included.

## Accepted organization Liberated Intelligence entry: October 20, 2026 (Pacific)

Rae accepted block `25794` by replying “ok, continue.” Applied its description verbatim in existing organization draft #10, commit `5d327ea3a30c434aa6f38d780bb6ca5836699190`:

> Explores how ownership and control shape intelligence, including what it would mean for an artificial system to have agency or refuse a demand. The project combines research with creative work, keeping questions about possible personhood open.

Only the existing entry's description changed. Its destination, the other project descriptions, and all six research evidence notes remain. Scoped comparison and exact-commit GitHub source readback confirm the accepted text; no browser render or full test suite was rerun for this prose-only edit. The project remains exploratory; passage approval establishes neither artificial personhood nor a working/released system.

P1-11 remains in progress. Additional project-entry review is 1/3 complete, with Universal Coherence Framework next. Its current public README was read to ground the next proposal, retaining the distinction between proposed cross-field comparisons and demonstrated usefulness, and its current AI-assisted/awaiting-author-review status. The underlying framework and its evidence were not newly appraised. The next description is proposed in chat and has not been applied. Both existing drafts remain open for review; no new PR, merge, website/source-research change, evidence-status upgrade, or full-profile publication is included.

## Accepted organization Universal Coherence Framework entry: October 20, 2026 (Pacific)

Rae accepted block `60832` by replying “Ok good.” Applied its description verbatim in existing organization draft #10, commit `8491809761e7b2780822ed2b329075c9a569edac`:

> Explores how systems hold together or change, and whether comparing patterns across fields can help us understand them. The framework’s usefulness hasn’t been established, and its current model is AI-assisted and awaiting author review.

Only this entry's description changed. Its destination, all other project descriptions, and all six research evidence notes remain. Scoped comparison and exact-commit GitHub source readback confirm the accepted text. No browser render or full test suite was rerun for this prose-only edit. Approval of this description does not validate the framework or complete author review.

P1-11 remains in progress. Additional project-entry review is 2/3 complete, with Liberation Mass next. Its current public README and START-HERE.md were read to ground a concise description of the experimental gathering format, including its practical and ritual purposes, voluntary participation, and rotating responsibilities. This source read does not establish that gatherings have taken place or that outcomes have been evaluated. The orientation also flags an unresolved contribution-licensing conflict; no general reuse promise is added and no licensing change is attempted. The next description is proposed in chat and has not been applied. Both existing drafts remain open for review; no new PR, merge, website/source-research change, evidence-status upgrade, or full-profile publication is included.

## Accepted organization Liberation Mass entry: October 20, 2026 (Pacific)

Rae accepted block `91468` by replying “Nice.” Applied its description verbatim in existing organization draft #10, commit `5a8c91dde0323e6a23aceafc1f5fa1cf82c7644e`:

> Develops an experimental gathering format that connects collective action with shared ritual and celebration. Responsibilities rotate, while consent and access shape how people take part.

Only this entry's description changed. Its destination, all other project descriptions, and all six research evidence notes remain. Scoped comparison and exact-commit GitHub source readback confirm the accepted text. No browser render or full test suite was rerun for this prose-only edit. This approves the description, not a claim that gatherings or evaluated outcomes already exist. The separately noted contribution-licensing conflict remains unresolved.

Additional project-entry review is 3/3 complete. Together with the seven site-approved descriptions already carried across, all ten organization project entries have completed wording review. P1-11 remains in progress: the whole profile, remaining repository front-door documents, and their publication decisions are not yet complete. The next short passage is the commons collaboration note. The live source PR #43 remains open, draft, and unmerged; its proposed arrangements are not adopted governance. The public `contributing.md` and existing approved site passages were read for fit. Approved stewardship, project-boundary, method, evidence, AI/accessibility, and credit wording are retained rather than reopened. The next wording is proposed in chat and has not been applied. No new PR, merge, website/source-research change, evidence-status upgrade, or full-profile publication is included.

## Accepted organization commons note and profile review: October 20, 2026 (Pacific)

Rae accepted block `38271` by replying “ok.” Its exact wording is applied in organization draft #10, commit `aaaf425d666944c3e8a0fb1dc4e277377daf03d9`:

> Contributions can question the work as well as extend it. The [commons collaboration proposal](https://github.com/Root-Sequence/root-sequence/pull/43) explores ways to share responsibility and make clear who can decide what. It leaves room for disagreement and for people to leave or develop a separate version. This remains a proposal for review.

The overall profile pass also standardized the four previously unbolded linked project labels to match the other six entries and reused the approved site heading “Contributing across projects” before the collaboration paragraphs. A scoped comparison confirms that all other prose, every link destination, all ten project descriptions, and all six research evidence notes are unchanged. Exact-commit GitHub source readback matches the staged file.

GitHub's rendered preview shows the current commit, section headings, six research rows, all ten project entries, the accepted commons note, contextual founder/AI contributions, and credits. The native methods/evidence/AI disclosure opens by click and closes by keyboard Enter. The overall check is a source and rendered-reading pass, not a full accessibility audit or new appraisal of the research. No runtime suite was rerun for these Markdown-only changes. Local handoff screenshots preserve the contribution section and both disclosure states.

Organization-profile passage review is complete. P1-11 remains in progress because publication of organization draft #10 and review/publication of the remaining root documentation are separate decisions. Root draft #46 also retains applicant material awaiting P2-04 review; it must not be merged wholesale on the basis of profile approval. The next proposed passage explains the research repository's scope beneath its already approved mission; it has not been applied. No new PR, merge, deployment, live organization setting, source-research change, or evidence-status upgrade is included.

## Accepted research-repository README scope: October 21, 2026 (UTC)

Rae accepted block `74629` by replying “ok.” Its exact paragraph replaces the prior explanatory paragraph beneath the already approved mission in `README.md`, within existing root draft #46:

> This repository holds research and developing ideas that connect different parts of Root Sequence. Individual projects keep their own direction and maintain their detailed work separately.

The resulting README blob is `c98f3b0c9a4a8b9a70550d22923082a4ae1256e4`. A scoped comparison confirms that this is the only README change; the mission, evidence/review paragraph, contextual founder/AI-accessibility paragraph, all destinations, and remaining sections are unchanged. The new wording identifies this repository's shared scope without implying that it owns the individual projects' work.

Validation: all 11 site checks pass, and the Idea Trail graph/index check passes using the already existing isolated validation environment. No dependency or generated-index change was made. The reader-document check reports 15 errors; a read-only comparison using the unchanged HEAD version of the sole changed README reproduces the exact same error messages. They remain the one broken relative link and fourteen missing inbound links in living-paper notes tracked under P1-06. There is no new documentation-check error. This does not validate the research or complete a general accessibility review.

P1-11 remains in progress. The short evidence/current-review paragraph beneath this scope note is next for review; its proposed wording is not applied. The working paper remains AI-assisted with author review incomplete, and the material does not establish a finished theory or validated universal framework. Organization profile #10 remains ready for a separate publication decision, not approved for merging by this passage acceptance. Both existing draft PRs are retained. No merge, deployment, live organization setting, source-research/evidence-status change, or applicant-sample approval is included.

## Accepted research-repository README evidence note: October 21, 2026 (Pacific)

Rae accepted block `90617` by replying “Ok.” Its exact paragraph replaces the previous evidence/current-review note in `README.md`, within existing root draft #46:

> Work here ranges from research notes to experimental tools. Evidence and review status vary, and the working paper is AI-assisted and still awaits author review. The material does not establish a finished theory or a validated universal framework.

The resulting README blob is `d23d28d25244707e2b17252f68878f6a142e9e7f`. Scoped source comparison confirms that this is the only README change. The accepted mission and scope paragraph, contextual founder/AI-accessibility explanation, all destinations, and remaining sections are unchanged. Acceptance of the description does not complete author review or validate the research.

Validation: all 11 site checks pass, and the Idea Trail graph/index is valid and current using the existing isolated environment. The reader-document checker reports the same 15 errors with both the edited README and its unchanged HEAD version; the outputs match exactly. The existing P1-06 issues remain one broken relative link and fourteen missing inbound links in living-paper notes. No dependencies, graph, generated index, or site source changed. No browser pass or fresh appraisal of research evidence is claimed.

P1-11 remains in progress. The next proposed navigation section would consolidate the inline “Read next” and repeated role/routing block while retaining all seven existing destinations. The repository map and ecosystem map remain the scope authorities. The already approved AI/accessibility introduction is retained rather than reopened. The navigation proposal is presented in chat and has not been applied. Organization profile #10 still awaits a separate publication decision, and applicant samples remain under P2-04. No new PR, merge, deployment, live organization setting, source-research change, or evidence-status upgrade is included.

## Public documentation cleanup prepared: October 23, 2026 (Pacific)

Rae requested finishing the repository cleanup as a focused pass. The working draft now incorporates current public main without overwriting the newer system-relative-limits or What If It All Works material. The proposed navigation from block `18476` is reused under this broader cleanup request; this record does not invent a separate passage approval. Previously accepted mission, scope, evidence, methods, and AI/accessibility wording remains.

The public Intelligence Ecology page retains its argument and all existing section headings. Its conceptual/hypothesis status is clearer, four links to private project documents become explicit access notes, and public research/working-paper routes are available. The page does not acquire unreviewed citations or claims of completed tests. It is now included in the research index alongside the existing research entries.

All 15 reader-document errors are repaired through the existing supporting-record index and one corrected relative path. These are navigation edits under the living paper's instructions, not changes to its findings or review status. All 238 Markdown files pass the reader check, all 11 site checks pass, and the Idea Trail graph/index remains valid and current. The existing Wiki build-fix candidate passes MkDocs 1.6.1 strict build and its public/private boundary check with eight public repositories, 35 canonical entities, and 14 project lenses.

The unfinished proposal-development exercises are preserved byte-for-byte at revision `58002e0b547bac6e49b3b38b4c9a0171fe0e7d5a` and on `review/work-samples-2026-10-23`. They are removed from the publication candidate and its curated research index. P2-04 review is still to do; no manuscript endorsement, application action, or new research result is recorded.

Existing root #46, organization #10, and Wiki #15 remain the review homes. No additional cleanup PR was created. Repository metadata repairs remain proposed; visibility, permissions, licenses, DNS, release gates, and private source are unchanged. The public/private Wiki freshness comparison remains P3 work. See the [dated audit](AUDIT.md#public-repository-cleanup-2026-10-23).

Rae clarified why Liberated Intelligence is private: it needs substantial revision and updates and is not ready for public inspection. The existing drafts now state that status in the organization profile, ecosystem map, Wiki project index, and historical overview. Its broad public role remains visible, without directing readers to private drafts or presenting the historical overview as current project work. This clarification does not approve publication of the three cleanup PRs. P1-11 remains in progress.

## Current reality
-This is an active, public, evolving body of writing, research, maps, and small tools. Some material is mature; some is exploratory, historical, or explicitly speculative. The canonical research method formalizes a route–synthesize–test–build workflow for cross-field questions. Working Epistemic Contrast and Deliberative Inquiry methods add contrast before convergence, evidence-weighted revision, and shared understanding before consequential decisions without replacing domain-native methods. The September 25 Public Seed website source has exact-source approval and a successful GitHub Pages deployment for the approved commit. # Research
Root Sequence is an independent interdisciplinary research initiative. This index offers starting points in the research and explains how to read the work’s current evidence and review status.

## Research approach

Root Sequence starts with questions that cross fields. We break them into smaller questions, identify the research and methods that can address each one, and examine how the findings connect.

Differences between fields, competing explanations, and unanswered questions stay visible. Evidence and criticism can change the argument or show that a proposed connection does not hold.

The [research method](method.md) and [method router](method-router.md) contain the full workflow and field-specific routes.

## Selected work and its current evidence

| Start with | What is available | Evidence and review limits |
| --- | --- | --- |
| [Intelligence Ecology](../concepts/intelligence-ecology.md) | Asks how the conditions around an intelligent system affect which behaviors are rewarded or able to persist. | Developing conceptual proposal; this page does not report empirical tests or a completed literature review. |
| [Research method](method.md) and [method router](method-router.md) | Workflow and field-specific routes for decomposing questions and testing claims | Developing method; no claim of novelty or demonstrated general effectiveness. |
| [Coherence Is a Systems Property](papers/coherent-systems/README.md) | Working paper, [claims ledger](papers/coherent-systems/claims.md), and [source-inspection map](papers/coherent-systems/notes/source-map.md) | AI-assisted v0.1-dev; author review incomplete; no independent validation of the framework. |
| [Adaptive continuity](../concepts/dynamic-coherence.md) | A working framework with [lineage and prior art](dynamic-coherence-lineage.md) | Cross-domain synthesis; analogy is not evidence of one shared mechanism. |
| [Epistemic discoverability and knowledge routing](../concepts/epistemic-discoverability.md) | A design concept for finding relevant research when you don’t yet know the terms to search for. | AI-assisted design proposal; author review incomplete. Its usefulness for finding research hasn’t been established. |
| [Legible Systems](../concepts/legible-systems.md) | A design principle about understanding, questioning, repair, and exit | Design argument; not a measured usability result. |
| [Reading Trails](reading-trails/README.md) | Curated routes into fields and intellectual history | Orientation resources; inclusion does not establish support for a claim. |

## How to read evidence and status

The source notes should let readers follow a claim back to the work supporting it. They should explain how closely we examined the source and where we have gone beyond it to offer an interpretation.

A test we propose is still an idea until it has been run. When reporting results, we describe how they were obtained, including whether anyone else has independently repeated the work. Unresolved questions remain visible after publication.

The [repository map's labels](../root_map.md#labels-describe-different-things) distinguish document role, maturity, evidence, and canonical scope. A developed document can still contain an unsupported claim.

- **Empirical or formal result:** name the originating study or proof, its scope, and what was actually inspected. A cited result is not a Root Sequence replication.
- **Synthesis or interpretation:** an argument connecting sources, open to competing accounts and domain review.
- **Hypothesis or proposed test:** a question and possible method; not an executed experiment or positive result.
- **Normative commitment or design principle:** a position about what should matter, with its reasons and tradeoffs.
- **Speculation, metaphor, or fiction:** an exploratory form, not evidence that the imagined mechanism works.

Source records distinguish finding a reference from examining it. Reading an abstract or checking selected passages does not amount to appraising the full text. Reproducing an analysis and independently repeating a study also need their own records. Explain what remains uncertain and what could change the conclusion. The [canonical method](method.md) contains the full workflow.

## Accessibility, AI assistance, and contributions

Rae Lovejoy uses AI both as an accessibility aid and as a tool for developing Root Sequence. Ideas often emerge through questions, fragments, observations, and conversations across connected subjects. AI helps gather that material, organize it, explore relationships, compare ideas with existing research, and develop drafts that can be reviewed in manageable pieces.

Rae contributes the motivating questions, conceptual direction, ideas and connections, examples, constraints, objections, and decisions that shape the work. AI contributes substantive synthesis, drafting, critique, literature discovery, and some code and repository work. It also proposes additional ideas, connections, and interpretations that Rae may adopt, revise, or reject. Some ideas develop through this ongoing exchange, so their origins cannot always be cleanly separated.

This assistance supports Rae’s participation throughout development and review. AI output is not evidence, and generated drafts do not automatically represent Rae’s endorsement. Source checking, author review, independent evaluation, and publication approval are recorded separately. The working paper remains a draft with author review incomplete.

### Source and review records

The working paper's [detailed assistance record](papers/coherent-systems/AI-ASSISTANCE.md) preserves the earlier accessibility explanation, actual assistance, and supported review process. Agreement among AI responses is not peer review.

For new work, record the date, tool and model when available, affected artifact, substantive assistance, source locators and inspection scope, and human corrections or approvals. Unrecorded model settings remain unknown. Respect each project's privacy, consent, and publication boundaries.
