# DR64³ × DT64 × CausalEdge64: epistemic-awareness research scratchpad

**2026-10-27. Status: research breadcrumb / scope capture, NOT executable, admitted, benchmarked or merge-authorized.**
**Owner boundaries:** DT64-Q0 attests immutable/replayable semantics; DR64/RelAlg/Quack/mask-risc operate on borrowed, typed coordinates; CausalEdge64 carries edge-level evidence; Thought-Git carries speculative independent worlds; source owner owns real existence, absent/coverage proof, physical snapshot, authorization and effects. This document is a memory checkpoint, not a new authoritative spec or ABI.

## Operator's uninterrupted thought chain (preserve all of it)

1. **Methods land onto existing algebra; algebra is mapped.** Multiple dimensionally distinct mappings onto the SAME reusable polyfill under different ON/WHEN/DO, scope, source identity and versions are normal. Never delete two 'redundant methods' as the semantic unit of a counterfactual ablation.
2. **Normal business-rule convergence.** Odoo taxability may arise from multiple valid contributing rules; tax rates are source-qualified subordinate rules; a shared business determination can be routed to two distinct ledger destinations. Many-to-one convergence is distinct from one-to-many typed fanout, and neither is an automatic ambiguity or permission to use OR/SUM/last-wins. Real Odoo law and effect ordering require source attestations.
3. **Logical ON×WHEN×DO is not necessarily a physical cube.** CFA #1813–#1818 and physical candidate #1819 (ON×DO 256² bitmap + separately source-witnessed Quack WHERE populations) must cross-reference, not compete. 64 is local block width, not a guaranteed global axis size. Source #44 slice 1 measures ON 194 × WHEN 5 provisional × DO 219; its eight cooccupied cells have ON=unattested, not proof of real conflicting rules.
4. **DR64³ holographic addressing.** Think three typed existing dimensions A×B×C, as SPO or Identity×Property/Edge×Predicate, bound to exact source identities. 64³ gives 262,144 *logical coordinate opportunities*, 32 KiB only if densely materialized as a Boolean cube. Avoid inventing identities or facts from pairwise joins. Presence is the attested relationship indicator; admissibility and discovery are different properties. 'Relationship exists', 'known absent under a complete source scope', and 'not discovered/UNKNOWN' must be distinct.
5. **Multiple coordinate views sharing the same base address.** `Identity × Property/Edge × Predicate` where predicates are ON, WHEN, DO or typed guard-expression bindings; and `Identity × Property/Edge × CausalEdge64` where an edge record is *payload/evidence*, not by default 2^64 new tensor coordinates. A common typed address can carry different semantic projections. Preserve mapping multiplicity and separately reusable recipes.
6. **DT64 immutable replayable binding.** Its claimed value is source-attested identity, predicate/schema/catalogue versions, source owner, ACTUAL pinned snapshot, class/rail interpretation, global/local focus witness, codebook generation, completeness/ACL scope and borrowed input lane. Version labels alone never prove physical immutability; stale detached Quack Keep is known to produce 1,032 vs fresh 31 rows (#1792) and must not escape without owner-issued dependency witness. Versioned meaning and replay are goals with open admission gates.
7. **3-input Boolean kernel, not magical 3D hardware.** Existing `mask-risc::fuse` / `ternlog_dispatch` and `ndarray::simd::mask_ternlog` compute any Boolean function of **three ALIGNED input bit planes**. RelAlg aligns axes, handles typed semijoins/gathers and projections; TERNLOGQ folds aligned populations. Three dimensional axes ≠ three bit-plane operands. Presence × applicability × epistemic eligibility may be an AND3 once aligned, while K3 knownness requires additional evidence planes and Boolean operations.
8. **CausalEdge64 semantic payload.** Canonical v2 fields: S/P/O indices 0..23; NARS f/c 24..39; Pearl 3-bit SPO projection 40..42; 43..45 orientation; 46..49 signed i4 (activation *or* inference-mantissa by declared reading); 50..52 novelty/wisdom rung *or* plasticity by declared reading; 53..58 W 6-bit field (LIVE thought-layer 0+63 by 2026-10-17 operator decision, NOT a pointer; canonical layout.rs retains a stale 'corpus root' label; sealed CE64 W cannot serve as durable thought/evidence ID); 59..63 single EpistemicState5 = topology2 × certification3, 24 meaningful codes + 8 reserved. These overlapping readings are NOT concurrent independent values. Reading requires class/rail/generation/provenance declaration, not unchecked unpacking; W=6 bits is not a full immutable witness and has no durable pointer semantics after sealing. Pearl mask is a projection selector, not proof that a causal effect is established.
9. **Epistemic derivation over a population.** The current `lance_graph_contract::epistemic_state5::facts_population(required)` returns a u32 mask over 32 Epi5 CODEs, not a 4,096-row DR64 mask. Project source-witnessed CausalEdge64 records back to their pre-existing DR focus positions under declared class/rail/generation, then derive e.g. Direct×Supports, IndirectUnknown×Causes, Unknown×Open. Never conflate code-domain masks with row-domain masks or aggregate different evidence roots into fictional independent corroboration.
10. **Sudoku / fixed-point population propagation.** Derived masks across many cells can implement eligibility = present AND applicable AND epi-eligible using TERNLOGQ, followed by RelAlg projections, delta/frontier propagation to deterministic fixed point; no new interpreter. Negatives require actual completeness scope. Preservation of identity/method multiplicity, K3, intermediate traces, provenance, and source-specific laws is the oracle. Dense/sparse, gathers, cache/rebind and iteration overhead must be measured, not assumed. A mask instruction is not an entire 64³ tensor computation.
11. **Causal/epistemic awareness, not authority.** A DR64³ relation can be queried through activation, SPO/Pearl and EpistemicState5 projections, yielding a version- and scope-qualified **awareness eligibility surface**, NOT proof of subjective consciousness, permission to mutate a source, or causal certification. Compare activation-derived eligibility changing while certification stays fixed and vice versa.
12. **Thought-Git constructive synthesis, not only conflict detection.** T0 immutable baseline and T1..T63 alternative world slots. Each world's simultaneously valid mapped rules can lawfully converge; mutually exclusive sibling worlds cannot be silently unioned into a posted state. Test-only odoo-rs #45 lands all 16 hypothetical guard-world thoughts via `next_version`, whose legitimate general-purpose same-landing union can create a nonexistent combined scenario. Correct the **caller-level world boundary**, not necessarily the general oracle. Test-local NARS equal-weight revision must not turn hypothetical worlds into independent empirical evidence or promote candidate laws.
13. **Upstream harvesting and optional learning.** odoo-rs #44/#45 and OGAR #363 merged. #44 RecomputeDag last-emitter behavior loses edges in multi-emitter cases; #45 synthetic guards are provisional. OGAR reader: 939 types, 518 verbs, 2,756 edges, 4,861 chainable pairs; 102 rejects and 508 unresolved mean incomplete coverage; its consistsOf/isPartOf noninverse relationship is not a deletion instruction. Odoo account_move_line `balance` 4 emitters and debit/credit multi-output are potential mapping examples, NOT verified simultaneous tax convergence or dual-ledger routing. Optional ARM/NSL/ONNX rankings are hypothesis prioritization, not admission. Legal ontology and rule-convergence / 'es kommt darauf an' is a later **domain probe**, not license to author laws.

## Design question to carry into staged PRs

Can one typed, immutable source-bound DR64³ coordinate view be lowered through existing Quack/RelAlg to population-wide Boolean and relational folds; and can a CausalEdge64 epistemic/activation projection over the same addresses enable *deterministic Sudoku-like constraint propagation and bounded, auditable counterfactual hypothesis generation* without making absent facts true, inventing triples, silently mixing worlds, upgrading certification, or authorizing effects?

## Proposed order (proposals only)

- EAW-0: capture + evidence / ownership ledger (this scratchpad).
- EAW-1: DR64³ relationship-presence, completeness and exact 3D coordinate contract; test fabricated pairwise triangle vs independently attested presence.
- EAW-2: CausalEdge64 declared lens to derived epistemic/activation DR64 population, with 59..63 and aliasing guards.
- EAW-3: RelAlg + TERNLOGQ aligned three-plane mask fold and fixed-point Sudoku dry-run with independent oracle + cost.
- EAW-4: Thought-Git isolated-world conditional synthesis, ARM/NSL/evidence-root dependency and law admission gates.
- EAW-5: Real source-harvested Odoo/OGIT + law/tax/routing/legality integration, optional and strictly separate source authority.

## Research safety / epistemic firewall

No new runtime, physical DR³ ABI, binding store, evaluator, planner, cache service, learned promotion, permission inference or source system write. All staged PRs docs-only and reviewable. Every executable probe requires its own later authorization and a red/green falsifier. Operator-rejected closed PR #1812 is quarantined and may NOT supply evidence, patterns or code. Existing #1813–#1819 owners remain intact; EXO-50 is append-only coordination, NOT approval.

## Live audit correction, 2026-10-27 (check against EXO-50 before writing stages)

- Operator's EXO-50 decision 2026-10-17, repeated 2026-10-20 (EXO-51/54, PR #1597/#1628): CE64 **W 53..58 is the live thought layer 0+63, never a pointer or immutable corpus evidence root**. After Lance sealing, slot reuse makes W non-durable and readers MUST not rely on it for replay. The historical `causal-edge::layout.rs` description ('corpus root handle') is stale relative to the operator's decision. Epistemic provenance is in separate source witness / evidence ledger, not W as an evidence identifier. Do not silently change this field or update other owners' code in EAW docs.
- Operator WIRE-50=A (#1640; EXO-146): bits 50..52 are pyramid-ordered `Option<Maturation3>` under its admitted reading, **presence externally**, `0` not Wisdom. The old `plasticity()` and `novelty_wisdom()` readers overlap these bits. Actual adopted implementation remains OPEN per EXO-146; project only under a declared reading and do not call the old reader canonical activation permission.
- 46..49 legacy opcode versus signed activation i4 also awaits the **C40 / ISA-LEGACY** correction (EXO-146); no undeclared reinterpretation. That is a preexisting owner task, not a new EAW implementation authorization.
- Bits 59..63 Epi5 are one code of Topology2 × Certification3; `EpistemicState5` declares it by `(classid,rail,generation)` and qualified provenance. Operator's Epi5 product is canonical, not the old legacy reasoning-band interpretation.
- DR64³ currently a LAB holographic gap inventory (D-DR64C-A), production third-axis NFR-OP-2 OPEN. D-RU-2 existing let planes and mask-risc ternlog are already native; the stage work must benchmark rather than reimplement.
- EXO-140 ADMISSION-B individual Semijoin/EqU32Via/Gather call-site classification OPEN; never hide a value-addressed join in `lift`. EXO-109 independent oracle; EXO-133 synthetic-world verdict caveat; EXO-135 evidence-to-law promotion firewall; EXO-132 carrier closure; EXO-73 lawful recursion driver OPEN.
- Existing #1813..#1818 are *open* (some review-ready, bases still draft); #1819 independent main-based OPEN. #1818 is physically stacked on optional CFA-4 and is not yet detached. Odoo #44/#45 and OGAR #363 merged. #1812 operator-rejected closed-unmerged quarantined.
