scripts/bump-version.sh reads the current version from the two lockstep files (python/pyproject.toml, python/src/donkey_kit/__init__.py), offers a PEP 440 pre-release-ladder menu (dev counter / aN / bN / rcN / final), confirms the new version, then cuts a release/bump-<v> branch off develop, edits both files, opens a squash PR into develop, and enables gh auto-merge so it lands on CI green. `gh auth status` (no host) checks every configured host and exits non-zero if any unrelated one has a stale token (e.g. a broken git.soma.salesforce.com keyring entry), even when github.com is fully authenticated via GH_TOKEN.
