What

Four new blog posts that follow on from Bootstrapping a private EKS cluster with Argo CD. All are marked draft: true, so merging this doesn't publish anything. They only show up in npm run dev.

Post Slug Planned date
Day 2 on a private EKS cluster /blog/private-eks-day-2/ 24 Oct
EKS upgrades without the drama /blog/eks-upgrades-without-drama/ 31 Oct
What we find when we audit a Kubernetes platform /blog/platform-audit-findings/ 7 Nov
Cluster access for a growing team with Tailscale /blog/private-eks-tailscale/ 14 Nov

Each one has a generated hero image (src/assets/blog/generated/*.jpg) with its source SVG committed alongside, following the pattern from the first EKS post.

Why

  • Day 2 and Tailscale continue the private EKS series: getting load balancers, DNS and secrets working, then giving a growing team access without handing everyone AWS roles.
  • Upgrades covers the most common follow-on question, with a private-cluster angle: EKS upgrade insights from CI.
  • Audit findings shows the kind of thing a platform review turns up, for people who might hire us for one.

Before publishing

  • The example repo links point at main. The Day 2 and Tailscale code exists only on a local day-2-add-ons branch of HeyalSolutions/eks-private-argocd-bootstrap and hasn't been pushed yet. It needs merging before these posts go live, or the file links will 404.
  • Audit post: has <!-- TODO --> comments where real client anecdotes or numbers would help. All the findings are written generically.
  • Tailscale post: check the tailscale.com/cap/kubernetes grant syntax against Tailscale's docs, and whether the CI identity needs to own tag:k8s-operator to create the operator's federated identity. The Terraform validates, but it hasn't been applied.
  • Upgrades post: the pricing ($0.10 vs $0.60 per cluster-hour) and the end of AL2 AMIs from 1.33 are worth a final check.

Checked

  • npm run build passes. Drafts are excluded from the build.
  • All four posts render in the dev server, including the new inline diagram in the Tailscale post in dark mode. Internal links and anchors resolve.

… findings

Four follow-ups to the private EKS + Argo CD post, all marked draft: true
so merging doesn't publish them:

- Day 2 on a private EKS cluster: AWS Load Balancer Controller,
external-dns and External Secrets via Pod Identity and Argo CD, plus a
comparison of human access options (SSM recommended).
- Cluster access for a growing team with Tailscale: the Tailscale operator's
API server proxy and subnet router, tailnet policy in Terraform, and
workload identity federation so neither CI nor the operator stores a
  secret.
- EKS upgrades without the drama: support windows and cost, upgrade
order, upgrade insights from CI on a private cluster, and rollback.
- What we find when we audit a Kubernetes platform: ten common findings
with a check and smallest fix for each.

Each has a generated hero image with its source SVG alongside.
