Add/support Ubuntu 22.04 for Linux global gestures #102

Closed

Description

@ishaan-dandekar

Problem

Filee's global gesture/shortcut functionality does not work on Ubuntu 22.04.

In Settings → Shortcuts, Filee reports:

Global input detection failed: Failed running the global hook: ErrorLinuxLoadBackend (10)

Environment

  • Ubuntu 22.04
  • x86_64
  • X11 session
  • GNOME / Mutter
  • SharpHook 8.0.0

The bundled native libraries appear to require a newer glibc than Ubuntu 22.04 provides.

For example:

libuiohook-x11.so:
libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.38' not found

libuiohook-xrecord.so:
libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.38' not found

Thanks for the report! Ubuntu 22.04 support is in #113 and will ship in the next release.

The X11 hook backends and rhwp are now built on Ubuntu 22.04 (glibc 2.35), so the same Linux package runs on 22.04 and newer. CI now checks that no file in the package needs a newer glibc, and runs the package on a real 22.04 image: the app starts, the global input hook starts, and HWP → PDF converts.

If the hook still can't load, Filee now explains what to do (X11 session, sudo apt install libxtst6 libxt6) instead of showing an error code.
