Closes #321.

The badge linked to LICENSE at the root and no such file existed. The only
licence statement anywhere was the SPDX string in the manifests — which tells a
tool which licence applies, but not a human the terms or who holds the
copyright. Distribution channels and corporate review processes look for the file.

The holder

Copyright (c) 2026 Baptiste Parmantier — the one thing the repository did not
contain and could not be guessed, so it was asked rather than inferred. It is the
name every commit is signed with.

Reaching the published crates

Each of the four published crates carries a symlink to the root file, the same
shape CLAUDE.md already uses here. Cargo resolves the link when packaging, so
the .crate ships the text and not a dangling link — verified by unpacking:

$ tar tzf target/package/rustmotion-core-0.7.1.crate | grep -i licen
rustmotion-core-0.7.1/LICENSE
$ tar xzOf ... rustmotion-core-0.7.1/LICENSE | head -3

Test

the_license_badge_points_at_a_file_that_exists_and_names_a_holder, next to the
other README/manifest invariants in audit_ws_k.rs: the file exists, is the MIT
text, names a holder, and each published crate's copy resolves to the same content.

Gate

cargo fmt --all --check clean · cargo clippy --workspace --all-targets --features rustmotion/studio -D warnings clean · cargo test --workspace 1793 passed.
