Updates lodash from 4.17.21 to 4.18.1

Release notes

Sourced from lodash's releases.

4.18.1

Bugs

Fixes a ReferenceError issue in lodash lodash-es lodash-amd and lodash.template when using the template and fromPairs functions from the modular builds. See lodash/lodash#6167

These defects were related to how lodash distributions are built from the main branch using https://github.com/lodash-archive/lodash-cli. When internal dependencies change inside lodash functions, equivalent updates need to be made to a mapping in the lodash-cli. (hey, it was ahead of its time once upon a time!). We know this, but we missed it in the last release. It's the kind of thing that passes in CI, but fails bc the build is not the same thing you tested.

There is no diff on main for this, but you can see the diffs for each of the npm packages on their respective branches:

4.18.0

v4.18.0

Full Changelog: lodash/lodash@4.17.23...4.18.0

Security

_.unset / _.omit: Fixed prototype pollution via constructor/prototype path traversal (GHSA-f23m-r3pf-42rh, fe8d32e). Previously, array-wrapped path segments and primitive roots could bypass the existing guards, allowing deletion of properties from built-in prototypes. Now constructor and prototype are blocked unconditionally as non-terminal path keys, matching baseSet. Calls that previously returned true and deleted the property now return false and leave the target untouched.

_.template: Fixed code injection via imports keys (GHSA-r5fr-rjxr-66jc, CVE-2026-4800, 879aaa9). Fixes an incomplete patch for CVE-2021-23337. The variable option was validated against reForbiddenIdentifierChars but importsKeys was left unguarded, allowing code injection via the same Function() constructor sink. imports keys containing forbidden identifier characters now throw "Invalid imports option passed into _.template".

Docs

  • Add security notice for _.template in threat model and API docs (#6099)
  • Document lower > upper behavior in _.random (#6115)
  • Fix quotes in _.compact jsdoc (#6090)

Commits

Updates picomatch from 2.3.1 to 2.3.2

Release notes

Sourced from picomatch's releases.

2.3.2

This is a security release fixing several security relevant issues.

What's Changed

Full Changelog: micromatch/picomatch@2.3.1...2.3.2

Changelog

Sourced from picomatch's changelog.

2.3.2 (2026-03-23)

Fixed

  • Avoided an exception when a glob pattern contains constructor (#144, 3f4f10e).

Security

  • Backported the extglob-quantifier ReDoS fix from 4.0.4. Risky repeated extglobs are now safely rewritten or treated as literals by default; positive numeric maxExtglobRecursion values allow limited nesting, while false disables the safeguard (CVE-2026-33671, eec17ae).
  • Prevented inherited object properties from being interpreted as POSIX character classes (CVE-2026-33672, fc1f6b6).
Commits

Updates ws from 8.18.3 to 8.21.3

Release notes

Sourced from ws's releases.

8.21.3

Bug fixes

  • The server now correctly rejects permessage-deflate offers if the incoming client_max_window_bits parameter value is smaller than its configured clientMaxWindowBits (e97a20ea).

8.21.2

Bug fixes

  • Fixed a test for CITGM (2eb3be0b).

8.21.1

Bug fixes

  • Empty fragments are now counted toward the limit (a2f4e7c0).
  • The default values of the maxBufferedChunks and maxFragments options have been reduced (f197ac65).

8.21.0

Features

  • Introduced the maxBufferedChunks and maxFragments options (2b2abd45).

Bug fixes

  • Fixed a remote memory exhaustion DoS vulnerability (2b2abd45).

A high volume of tiny fragments and data chunks could be sent by a peer, using modest network traffic, to crash a ws server or client due to OOM.

import { WebSocket, WebSocketServer } from 'ws';
const wss = new WebSocketServer({ port: 0 }, function () {
const data = Buffer.alloc(1);
const options = { fin: false };
const { port } = wss.address();
const ws = new WebSocket(ws://localhost:${port});
ws.on('open', function () {
(function send() {
ws.send(data, options, function (err) {
if (err) return;
send();
});
})();
});
</tr></table>

Warn Low
Potential code anomaly (AI signal): npm js-yaml is 65.0% likely to have a medium risk anomaly

Notes: The script functions as a straightforward JSON↔YAML translator CLI with standard error handling. The primary security concern is the use of yaml.loadAll without a safeLoad alternative, which could enable YAML deserialization risks if inputs contain crafted tags. To improve security, switch to a safe loader (e.g., yaml.safeLoadAll or equivalent) or ensure the library is configured to restrict risky constructors. Overall, no malware indicators were observed; the risk is confined to YAML deserialization semantics.

Warn Low
Potential code anomaly (AI signal): npm lodash is 78.0% likely to have a medium risk anomaly

Notes: The alert describes a Lodash-style template compiler (challenge_toolkit-1.2.0rc2/node_modules/lodash/template.js) that uses dynamic code generation via the Function constructor, with an evaluate mode that can execute template content as JavaScript. If an attacker controls the template string or options (evaluate, interpolate, imports), it can lead to arbitrary code execution in the application context. No explicit malware indicators are present, but the ecosystem vulnerability stems from the inherent security risk of dynamic template compilation.

Warn Low
Potential code anomaly (AI signal): npm ws is 75.0% likely to have a medium risk anomaly

Notes: The code implements a standard EventTarget-like mixin for wrapping event listeners and dispatching events to user callbacks. There are no suspicious patterns such as dynamic code execution, hardcoded secrets, or network activity. The risk is contingent on what the consumer does inside their handlers; the snippet itself does not introduce malware or data leakage mechanisms beyond normal event dispatch. Overall security risk is low in isolation.
