fix(api): allow "/" in CRE names for /rest/v1/name and MCP get_cre_by_name - #1148
Conversation
…_name
45 of the 522 CREs on opencre.org have a "/" in their name ("MFA/OTP",
"Deploy/build", ...). The /rest/v1/name/<crename> route used the default
converter, so those requests never reached find_cre and the SPA catch-all
answered with HTML and a 200. The MCP client rejected "/" in every path
parameter, so get_cre_by_name could not ask for them either.
Use the path: converter for the name route (the OpenAPI path is
unchanged) and let the MCP client accept "/" inside crename only, still
rejecting "..", "?", "#" and empty segments.

Reject unsafe CRE name segments before the exact-name query.
The CSV import path accepts names such as a/../b and a//b. Database.add_cre persists those names unchanged. The changed find_cre route forwards crename to the exact-name query without rejecting those segments, so a stored unsafe-name CRE can be returned.

Looks good — path converter for CRE names with / plus a tight MCP sanitize exception for crename only. Thanks @Aryan-Pardeshi.
Fixes #1147
Problem
45 of the 522 CREs on opencre.org have a
/in their name, for exampleMFA/OTP,Deploy/buildandVirus/malware protection. Two things stop them from being looked up by name:/rest/v1/name/<crename>uses Flask's default converter, which doesn't match/, so/rest/v1/name/MFA/OTPnever reachesfind_cre. The SPA catch-all answers instead, with HTML and status 200. Encoding the slash as%2Fdoesn't help, because the WSGI server decodes the path before routing._sanitize_path_valuerejects/in every path parameter, soget_cre_by_name({"crename": "MFA/OTP"})fails before any request is sent.Approach
application/web/web_main.py: the name route now uses<path:crename>.werkzeug_rule_to_openapi_pathstrips the converter, so the documented path stays/rest/v1/name/{crename}and the OpenAPI guardrail is unaffected. The/rest/v1/id/<creid>route and the node routes are unchanged.application/mcp/rest_client.py:/is allowed only forcrename. Leading, trailing and doubled slashes,..,?and#are still rejected. Every other path parameter (creid, ntype, name) keeps the single-segment rule. The value is still percent-encoded withquote(safe=""), soMFA/OTPis sent asMFA%2FOTP.One routing side effect:
/rest/v1/name/<x>/sectionid/<y>now routes tofind_cre, which returns 404 unless a CRE has that full name. Before, it went tofind_node_by_namewithntype="name", which isn't a node type.Testing
web_main_test.test_find_by_name: a CRE namedMFA/OTPis returned as JSON for both/rest/v1/name/MFA/OTPand/rest/v1/name/MFA%2FOTP, and/rest/v1/name/MFA/missingreturns 404. Onmainthis test fails: the response is the SPA HTML.mcp_public_tools_test.test_parity_get_cre_by_name_with_slash: MCP and REST return the same data forMFA/OTP. Onmain, this fails withcontains unsafe characters.mcp_public_tools_test.test_slash_only_allowed_in_cre_names:../MFA,MFA/../user,/MFA,MFA/,MFA//OTPandMFA?x=1are still rejected forcrename, and/is still rejected forget_node.web_main_test,mcp_public_tools_testandopenapi_guardrail_testpass (85 tests).python -m unittest discover -s application/tests -p "*_test.py"gives 1044 tests. 7 fail, and the same 7 fail onmain. They are Windows-specific (charmapencoding, file locking, path separators), which is what I ran on locally.black --checkandscripts/check_openapi_guardrail.pypass. mypy reports no errors in the changed modules.
