  • package.json: drop private, publish publicly, add repository/homepage/keywords
  • clear dist/ before every build; stale files (the removed MCP code) were in the tarball
  • prepublishOnly runs typecheck and tests
  • Release workflow: publishes on a v* tag via npm trusted publishing (OIDC, no token)
  • README: install from npm, release steps

CAP-4819 Perspective CLI: new repo with agent SKILL.md + developer docs

Build a perspective command-line tool on top of the External API, and document it on developers.perspective.co.

Scope

  1. New private repo Perspective-Software/perspective-cli (TypeScript, Node ≥ 22.12):
    • perspective auth login — stores and validates an API key (prompt, stdin or --api-key). PERSPECTIVE_API_KEY for CI.
    • REST commands for every documented /v1 endpoint: workspaces, contacts (list/get/create/set), metrics (kpi/chart/insight).
    • JSON on stdout by default when piped; stable exit codes; errors on stderr as JSON.
    • SKILL.md so coding agents (Claude Code etc.) know how to drive it.
  2. Draft PR on developer-docs adding a "CLI" section (overview, install, authentication, command reference, agents/SKILL.md) plus intro and llms.txt entries.

Out of scope

  • Publishing to npm (needs an org decision on the package name and public visibility).
  • Release automation / binaries.
  • MCP server and OAuth login — the CLI wraps the External API only.

📝 Walkthrough

The package is configured for public npm publishing. Package metadata and scripts now support publication checks and build cleanup. A GitHub Actions workflow publishes the package when a v* tag is pushed and matches the package version. The README installation command now uses the published npm package.

The first tagged release is not ready to rely on this workflow: the package is not publicly available, and trusted publishing requires a first publication. Complete that bootstrap step before using the release tag.
