Feature request: ARM64 (arm64-v8a) app support #38

Description

@Raulsc9

Hi,

I’m currently using dockerify-android for CI/testing and noticed that the emulator reports:

ro.product.cpu.abilist = x86_64,x86

This prevents installation of many modern Android apps that ship native libraries only for arm64-v8a, resulting in:

INSTALL_FAILED_NO_MATCHING_ABIS

Since many Play Store apps no longer provide x86/x86_64 builds, ARM64 support (or an ARM translation layer) would significantly improve compatibility.

Are there plans to support ARM64 system images or ARM translation in the near future?

Thanks for the project.

    ARM translation can be archived in short term. I will work on that and give you an update.
    Thanks for your feedback 🙏

    Hello. This feature still in progress?
    I was try
    --env ARM_TRANSLATION=1
    but
    adb shell getprop ro.product.cpu.abilist is showing x86_64,x86 and adb shell getprop ro.dalvik.vm.native.bridge is showing 0

    Fixed in v1.0.0. 🎉

    @Raulsc9 — your original ask is implemented. After enabling ARM_TRANSLATION=1:

    $ adb shell getprop ro.product.cpu.abilist
    x86_64,x86,arm64-v8a,armeabi-v7a,armeabi

    ARM-only Play Store APKs (and arm64-v8a sideloads) install and launch cleanly.

    @snaike00 — your report was what flagged the broken first attempt. That early implementation had two real problems: the upstream libhoudini download was failing silently behind a 502, and even when files landed the install never rebooted the device for the new properties to take effect. Both fixed, plus the translation engine itself was swapped to Google's ndk_translation (Chrome-OS-Android-11 prebuilts) which matches the emulator's API 30. After pulling shmayro/dockerify-android:1.0.0, getprop ro.dalvik.vm.native.bridge returns libndk_translation.so and ARM apps install/run. Sorry about the false start.

    How to use:

    # docker-compose.yml
    environment:
      ARM_TRANSLATION: 1

    Then docker compose up -d. If you want it as a proper Magisk module (toggleable from the Magisk app), also set ROOT_SETUP: 1.
