Summary

  • Bump actions/checkout and actions/setup-node from v6 to v7, and JamesIves/github-pages-deploy-action from v4.8.0 to v4.9.0. The v7.0.0 release notes list an ESM migration and a block on fork checkouts under pull_request_target. Neither workflow uses that trigger.
  • CI now runs on pull_request for every PR, including PRs from forks, and on push only for main. This avoids running CI twice for each push to a PR branch. A pull_request run builds the PR merged into main. Past branches opened PRs within minutes of their first push, so dropping branch-push runs loses little. Use a draft PR to get CI on unfinished work.
  • Adds a Prettier check that runs before the build. A failure shows a warning annotation and does not fail the job. The check runs first because prebuild runs prettier --write, which hid formatting problems from CI.
  • Adds a concurrency: deploy group to CD so back-to-back merges deploy in order instead of overlapping.

Testing

  • npx prettier --check . passes locally on this branch.
  • CI on this PR passed with the new action versions and the format check.
  • After the trigger change, a push to this branch started only one pull_request run and no push run.
  • CD changes run only on main, so they get their first real run after merge.

- Bump actions/checkout and actions/setup-node to v7, and
  github-pages-deploy-action to v4.9.0.
- Run CI on pull_request too, so PRs from forks get checked.
- Add a Prettier check before the build. It warns on failure and does
not fail the job; the prebuild step rewrites formatting, so CI never
  surfaced it before.
- Add a concurrency group to CD so overlapping deploys queue instead
  of racing.

Branch PRs ran CI twice, once per event. The pull_request run covers
every PR, including forks, and tests the merge with main.
