fix(layer): remove urllib3 from the Lambda layer again - #8556
Merged

Conversation
Restore the layer cleanup that removes urllib3 together with the other boto3 dependencies, so functions keep using the urllib3 shipped by the Lambda runtime. Relax the auth extras pin to urllib3>=2.7.0, the version the runtime ships today, and document that the layer relies on the runtime copy. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Issue number: closes #8555
Summary
Changes
urllib3*in the layer cleanup step (layer_v3/docker/Dockerfile) and in the e2e layer builder (tests/e2e/utils/lambda_layer/powertools_layer.py), so the layer again removes all boto3 dependencies and defers to the Lambda runtime.urllib3pin in thejwt,oauth2andallextras from>=2.8.0to>=2.7.0, the version the Lambda runtime ships today (checked in 10 regions, Python 3.10 to 3.14). The auth functional suite passes unchanged on urllib3 2.7.0.User experience
Before: the next layer release would ship urllib3 2.8.0 in
/opt/python, replacing the runtime's urllib3 2.7.0 under the runtime's botocore for every layer user, including those not using auth. After: the layer ships no urllib3, as it always did. Auth via layer uses the runtime's urllib3. Customers who want a specific urllib3 version install the
jwtoroauth2extra and package it with the function.By submitting this pull request, I confirm that you can use, modify, copy, and redistribute this contribution, under the terms of your choice.
