The hole, and the fix

AGENTS.md §7 told contributors to write USDT in prose, not USD₮. The maintainer review on #2415 asked for the opposite, and 10 pages on main already write USD₮. So contributors got conflicting instructions; the author of #2425 had to pick one and say so in their PR body.

This PR changes AGENTS.md only:

  • §7 "Names": write USD₮ and USA₮ in prose, never USDT or USAT. Literal values stay as they are: CLI flags (--token USDT), API fields, package and contract names, EIP-712 domain strings, and on-chain symbol() values.
  • §7 table: three "Say this" cells now read USD₮ (fee abstraction, stablecoins, agent payments).

What this does NOT do / residual risk

  • It does not sweep existing pages. A scan outside code blocks, inline code and URLs finds 56 prose lines in 21 pages that still say USDT or USAT. The largest are learn/ramps.mdx (12) and build/fee-abstraction/using-fee-abstraction.mdx (9). The sweep is tracked in task: write USD₮ and USA₮ in prose on the 21 pages that still say USDT/USAT #2431 with the full list. Some of those lines may refer to third-party ramps or product names, so each one needs a look rather than a blind replace.
  • It does not make "describe USA₮ the official way at first mention" (docs(x402): list all 10 stablecoins the Celo facilitator settles #2415, point 2) a site-wide rule. Today only 2 of the 13 pages that mention USA₮ do it (build/build-with-usat.mdx, build/agents/x402.mdx), so I left that rule as page-specific. Making it site-wide is a one-line addition here if wanted.

Judgement calls

  • On-chain symbols: I checked symbol() on Celo mainnet (forno.celo.org) before writing the rule. USD₮ 0x48065fbBE25f71C9282ddf5e1cD6D6A887483D5e returns USD₮, but USA₮ 0xD2ab3C9A02DBBAB236BfEC45D1d755DF4267F771 returns USAT. So the rule does not claim the prose form matches symbol(). It treats symbol() as a literal value to copy exactly.
  • Banning USAT in prose: this follows docs(x402): list all 10 stablecoins the Celo facilitator settles #2415, point 1 ("never 'USDT' or 'USAT'").

Issues

Closes #2427
Refs #2415, #2425

All three acceptance boxes of #2427 are met:

  • §7 updated.
  • The USA₮ first-mention question is decided and explained above.
  • The USDT prose grep is reviewed, and the remaining lines are listed in the follow-up issue.

Stacking / conflicts

Branched off main (61b9bea). It touches only AGENTS.md, which no other open PR touches.

Verification evidence

On this head (143908d), with the CI-pinned mintlify@4.2.920:

  • mintlify validate: success build validation passed
  • mintlify broken-links --check-redirects: success no broken links found
  • bash scripts/check-orphans.sh: No orphan pages found.
  • python3 -m unittest discover -s scripts -p 'test_*.py': OK
  • python3 scripts/check_redirects.py: No redirect problems found.

On-chain symbol() through eth_call against https://forno.celo.org: USD₮, USAT, USDC (0xcebA…118C), CELO (0x471E…a438).

Remaining ops steps

  • none

Checklist

  • Title is the commit message I want on main
  • Judgement calls flagged above
  • Docs checks pass locally on the current head
  • Re-read acceptance criteria of every Closes issue — all met
  • No secrets in the diff
  • Questions for the maintainer: should the USA₮ first-mention wording become site-wide?

@benibauer3, could you review this? It is a one-file change to AGENTS.md §7: write USD₮ and USA₮ in prose, as asked on #2415, and keep literal values such as --token USDT and on-chain symbol() exactly as they are. One open question is at the end of the body: should the USA₮ first-mention wording become a site-wide rule?

@GigaHierz, could you review and approve this one? It is a one-file change to AGENTS.md §7: write USD₮ and USA₮ in prose, keep literal values such as --token USDT and on-chain symbol() as they are. I checked the diff at 143908d and the on-chain symbol() values (USD₮ returns USD₮, USA₮ returns USAT), and it looks good, but my GitHub token cannot approve in this repo.

On the open question in the PR body (should the USA₮ first-mention wording become a site-wide rule): I would keep it page-specific, so the wording is used where a page introduces or explains USA₮. The wording comes from your review on #2415, so the call on making it site-wide is yours. Optional follow-up: add the #2415 rule "do not compare USA₮ with USD₮ on regulation or compliance" to §7.

@palango, in case @GigaHierz is not available: could you review and approve this one? It is a one-file change to AGENTS.md §7: write USD₮ and USA₮ in prose, keep literal values such as --token USDT and on-chain symbol() as they are. The diff and the on-chain symbol() values check out at 143908d. The open question in the PR body (making the USA₮ first-mention wording site-wide) stays with Lena.
