What's in 0.8.1

• Bundled Redis keeps accepting writes when a snapshot fails (fix: keep the bundled Redis accepting writes when a snapshot fails [ENG-1707] #56, ENG-1707): stop-writes-on-bgsave-error no in redis.commonConfiguration, plus the memory and disk headroom snapshots need.
• Images 2026-07-26-006 (also from fix: keep the bundled Redis accepting writes when a snapshot fails [ENG-1707] #56):
  • the director returns an error instead of exiting when Redis rejects a write (currents#4301, currents#4310);
  • the writer no longer writes unrotated pm2 log files into its PM2_HOME volume (currents#4302);
  • the dashboard no longer initializes Sentry on-prem (currents#4304);
  • tr-steps:*:upload-state expires after 2h instead of 24h, and term_marker keys hash the term value (ENG-1535).

The changelog adds a hand-written line for the image update. The squash merge of #56 kept only the Redis fix in its title.

Upgrade note

Changing redis.commonConfiguration rolls the bundled Redis pod. Redis reloads its last snapshot from the volume on start, and services reconnect once it's up. With a large dataset the reload takes a while, so plan the upgrade for a quiet window. Installs using their own Redis are unaffected.

Testing

Local install on Docker Desktop Kubernetes, upgrading from 0.8.0 / 2026-07-26-004 to this chart with the rebuilt 2026-07-26-006 images:

• After a snapshot failed for lack of disk, Redis kept accepting writes, its default probes stayed healthy, nothing restarted, and a Playwright run recorded completely.
• On 0.8.0 the same failure made Redis answer even PING with MISCONF, so its liveness probe restarted it. Restarting loses writes since the last good snapshot.
• With stop-writes-on-bgsave-error forced back to yes, the 006 director returned 500s and didn't restart.
• The 2h tr-steps TTL, the hashed term_marker keys, the empty writer PM2_HOME/logs, and the absence of the Sentry DSN from the dashboard bundle were all confirmed on the 006 images.

After merge

Run the Release Charts workflow (workflow_dispatch) to publish currents-0.8.1.
