feat: embed follow badge for profiles matching activity graph
Summary
Users can now generate and embed a compact SVG follow badge on their GitHub profile README or repository headers (e.g. [](https://dev-null.sh/@handle)).
When readers click the badge, it links directly to the user's profile on /dev/null so they can follow them. The badge is designed to be visually consistent with the existing Activity Graph embed, supporting Light, Dark, and Auto theme modes.

Auto: Dynamically adapts to viewer's prefers-color-scheme
Design alignment: The badge card background, border stroke, typography, and lane accent dot strictly mirror the styling of the commit activity graph card.
Structured as a single card (<rect class="card" ... rx="4"/>) matching the Activity Graph's card visual architecture.
Contains the /dev/null brand icon (.ink), text brand (.ink), user lane indicator dot (<circle class="lane" .../>), and follow handle message (.ink.mono).
Uses CSS classes (.card, .ink, .muted, .lane, .l0) with font stacks Geist and Geist Mono.
Implements the exact same LIGHT and DARK color palettes as CreateUserActivityGraph.
Supports light, dark, and auto theme modes. Auto mode embeds @media (prefers-color-scheme: dark) so the badge automatically flips theme inside GitHub READMEs based on the viewer's OS/browser mode.
Streamlined UserBadgeController to a single public show() action returning SVG responses, matching UserActivityGraphController and adhering to project architecture rules (ArchTest).
Added route GET /@{user:handle}/badge.svg with throttle:activity-graph and cache.headers:public;max_age=3600;etag.
Added a shareable “follow” badge in SVG format, with light, dark, and automatic theme options.
Added a badge preview and embed snippet alongside the activity graph embed. Switch between graph and badge, choose a theme, and copy the snippet for the selected option.
Added badge links to user profiles. Badges support public caching and conditional requests.

Walkthrough
The change adds a themed SVG follow badge endpoint for user profiles. The profile editor now provides graph and badge embed tabs, previews, and Markdown snippets.
The action builds a follow message, calculates its width, selects light, dark, or automatic styles, and renders the SVG template. Unit tests check the generated SVG and text helpers.
Serve badge from profile route app/Http/Requests/ShowUserBadgeRequest.php, app/Http/Controllers/UserBadgeController.php, routes/web.php, tests/Feature/Controllers/UserBadgeControllerTest.php
The route serves the generated SVG with public caching. The request resolves the theme query value. Feature tests cover caching, themes, lane colors, throttling, and missing profiles.
The profile page supplies a badge URL. The embed component adds graph and badge tabs, previews, theme-aware snippets, and a fallback badge URL. Tests cover the profile URL and rendered embed options.

Merge Risk: Low · up to 8bd05
The badge feature is mergeable with a bounded accessibility issue: keyboard and assistive-technology users do not get the navigation promised by the embed selector’s tab semantics. Use button-group semantics or complete the tab interaction.
Security architecture risk: Minimal · up to 8bd05
The badge exposes existing public profile information through a read-only endpoint, retains established request limits, and constrains inputs before generating SVG. No material security risk introduced or worsened by this change was identified.
Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
observed — Anonymous callers gain a new per-profile SVG retrieval surface containing the public handle and visual lane color. The inspected renderer does not query private activity or acquire account-changing authority; the existing public activity graph already consumes the same lane contract.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — Attacker-selected theme input becomes an enum before rendering, and handle-derived text remains escaped at the SVG boundary. The potential raw-style injection path is constrained by fixed palette construction and validation on the inspected production lane-write paths; no request-reachable markup or CSS injection path was established.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
observed — The new endpoint retains the neighboring activity graph’s throttling and public cache-header policy rather than adding an unthrottled rendering path. These declarations establish application-level controls, not verified production proxy cache behavior.

Full details: Title check
Explanation
The title "feat: embed follow badge for profiles matching activity graph" matches the main change. The PR adds an embeddable SVG follow badge served at a new badge.svg route, and a settings UI tab that copies Markdown for it. The title also names the Activity Graph alignment, which the objectives describe. Some details, such as the theme handling and the throttled route, are not in the title, which is expected.
Full details: Docstring Coverage
Explanation
Docstring coverage is 14.29% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 7 functions across 12 files.

Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win
Use semantics that match the embed-type controls.
The buttons declare a tab widget, but they have no arrow-key handling or associated tab panels. Keyboard users can reach each button with Tab, but the declared widget does not provide tab-widget navigation. Use a named button group with aria-pressed, or implement the full tab interaction. Based on learnings, ARIA widgets need widget-appropriate keyboard access.
