User Interface Design Requirements

The following suggestions/considerations emerged during the teleconference that took place on 2011/01/27:

• Present empty page (no results) when the user first visits the search page
• Move the temporal and geospatial hyperlinks under the search text box in the main page panel
• Restore the ability of users to constraint the search by facets/categories
• Possibly, remove the display of tags with different font sizes - use facets instead
• Parse the text entered in the input text box and interpret it as the logical AND of all terms
• Provide a CSS model that can be reused across the site, and customized by individual institutions
