What and why

tools/polar-ellipse/planted.py (numpy only) writes elliptical-ring 4D cubes with an analytic radial background, the analytic polar-grid truth, exact and noisy ring points for the ellipse fit, and band-limited image pairs for Fourier resampling, with truth.json and tolerance rationale (CuboKit tasks 17 and 18). No py4DSTEM was run and no upstream pin is claimed; the Mac pin scripts add those. Docs/tools only, no Sources.

Self-checks in the container (python3 -I): conic fit recovers exact points to 1e-14, noisy points to about 0.015 px; Fourier resample reference agrees to 1e-14.

Checklist

  • swift test -c release passes (not applicable: no Swift changes)
  • Generator runs clean in the container with python3 -I
  • Pinned numbers unchanged (no fixtures touched)
  • README written

…er resample

Elliptical-ring cubes with analytic radial background, exact and noisy ring points, band-limited resample pairs.

Done: the generator runs clean with python3 -I and its truth is self-checked. Next: the Mac session adds the upstream pins.
