fix(ci): resolve the lockfile from npmjs and update simple-git to 4.0.2 - #2
The ubuntu-latest CI job fails on main. The failing step is "Audit production dependencies" (npm audit --omit=dev --audit-level=high). It reports two critical findings: simple-git 3.36.0 and its dependency @simple-git/argv-parser (advisory GHSA-v5rq-49vh-5v5c). A change can merge only when every check passes, so this fixes the cause.
The lockfile also had 16 resolved entries (8 packages, each listed twice) on a third-party mirror, registry.npmmirror.com. That host returns 403 in some environments, which breaks npm ci.
Scope
File
Change
package.json
simple-git goes from ^3.22.0 to ^4.0.2. New script check:lockfile.
package-lock.json
Regenerated with npm install --package-lock-only --registry=https://registry.npmjs.org/. Every resolved URL now points at registry.npmjs.org. simple-git 3.36.0 to 4.0.2, @simple-git/argv-parser 1.1.1 to 2.0.1, @simple-git/args-pathspec 1.0.3 to 1.0.4.
src/services/gitService.ts
simple-git 4 has no default export, so the import is now import { simpleGit, SimpleGit } from 'simple-git'. No other code changed.
scripts/check-lockfile-registry.js
New. Fails if any lockfile entry resolves outside https://registry.npmjs.org/.
.github/workflows/ci.yml
New step "Check lockfile registry" before npm ci. Actions stay pinned by SHA.
Kept on purpose
All other dependency versions. For the 396 entries whose version did not change, the integrity value is identical to the old lockfile.
The remaining npm audit findings (8, in undici through the dev-only packaging tool). They are not production dependencies and the CI step does not check them.
The CI audit step failed with two critical findings in simple-git 3.36.0.
Version 4.0.2 is the first fixed release, and 3.x has no fix.
Version 4 has no default export, so gitService.ts now imports the named simpleGit.
The lockfile had 16 resolved URLs on a third-party mirror.
Point every resolved URL at registry.npmjs.org. The integrity values are unchanged.
Add scripts/check-lockfile-registry.js and a CI step that fails on any other registry.

Walkthrough
The CI workflow checks package-lock.json registry URLs before dependency installation. The project adds scanner tests and updates the simple-git dependency range and import.
Changes: Lockfile Registry Check
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Lockfile validation and CI wiring .github/workflows/ci.yml, package.json, scripts/check-lockfile-registry.js, scripts/check-lockfile-registry.test.js
The scanner checks packages and legacy dependencies entries for string resolved URLs outside https://registry.npmjs.org/. It reports offenders and handles read, parse, and unsupported-layout errors. Tests cover clean and offending v1 and v3 lockfiles. The npm script runs the tests and scanner, and CI invokes it before dependency installation.
simple-git Update
Layer / File(s)
Summary
simple-git dependency and import update package.json, src/services/gitService.ts
The simple-git dependency range changes from ^3.22.0 to ^4.0.2. gitService.ts uses the named simpleGit import; SimpleGit remains a named import.
The lockfile check runs before dependency installation on every CI operating system. No merge-blocking issue is established.
Security architecture risk: Low · up to f1a61
The change strengthens dependency-installation controls without adding application permissions or entrypoints. No introduced security concern was established; remaining uncertainty concerns the upgraded Git dependency’s behavior.
Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The new control operates on dependency-fetch inputs in CI. Its test entrypoints do not create an application attack path, and the workflow change does not grant additional runtime authority.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
inferred — Lockfile-controlled package URLs now pass through validation before the CI installation step. Both self-tests and validation must succeed. This is a URL-origin control, not a complete dependency-provenance or installation-sandbox guarantee.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
inferred — The checker performs no persistent writes or network operations. Its failure paths occur before dependency installation, so interrupted or repeated validation does not leave a partially applied registry configuration requiring cleanup.

Explanation
The Verification section lists each check, command, result, and relevant numbers. The PR adds a lockfile self-test and CI registry check. The lockfile diff independently supports the parity claims: 396 same-version entries retain integrity, 3 packages change version, and no entries are added or removed. The reported registry, install, audit, lint, compile, smoke, packaging, and runtime results provide evidence for the remaining accuracy and performance claims.
Full details: Tests Not Weakened
Explanation
No test was deleted, skipped, ignored, or weakened. The diff contains no test-file deletions or tolerance changes. It adds scripts/check-lockfile-registry.test.js with v1, v3, clean, offending, and missing-layout cases, and check:lockfile runs that self-test before the registry check.

The lockfile check read only the packages map.
A v1 lockfile keeps its entries in the dependencies tree, so the check found nothing.
Scan the packages map and the nested dependencies tree.
Fail if the lockfile has neither of them.
Add a self-test with one v1 fixture and one v3 fixture, and run it before the check.
