Motivation

The organization sub-accounts API can list and create sub-accounts but not delete them. The new DELETE /api/organizations/{organization_id}/sub_accounts/{sub_account_id} endpoint needs an SDK method.

Changes

  • SubAccount::deleteSubAccount(int $subAccountId) – sends the delete request and returns the 204 response
  • unit tests for the success, forbidden and not-found cases
  • examples/sub-accounts/all.php gets a delete block that deletes the sub-account the example just created; the sub-accounts example is now linked from both READMEs

How to test

Use a token with organization admin permissions and an organization that has at least two sub-accounts (deleting the last one deletes the organization).

  • $subAccounts->deleteSubAccount($id) with an existing sub-account id – returns a response with status 204; the sub-account disappears from getSubAccounts()
  • call deleteSubAccount($id) again with the same id – throws HttpClientException with a 404 not-found message
  • call it with a sub-account id from another organization – throws HttpClientException with a 404 not-found message
  • call it with a token that only has sub-account management permissions – throws HttpClientException with a 403 message
  • call it with an invalid token – throws HttpClientException with a 401 message
  • run MAILTRAP_API_KEY=... MAILTRAP_ORGANIZATION_ID=... php -d variables_order=EGPCS examples/sub-accounts/all.php – prints the list, the created sub-account and 204; the created sub-account is gone from getSubAccounts() afterwards
  • README.md and examples/README.md render the new sub-accounts row next to the API tokens row

Walkthrough

The SubAccount API now supports deleting a sub-account. Tests cover successful deletion and HTTP 403 and 404 responses. The example calls the deletion method, and the README files list the sub-account operations.

Changes: Sub-account deletion

Layer / File(s) Summary
Deletion API and validation
src/Api/General/SubAccount.php, tests/Api/General/SubAccountTest.php
deleteSubAccount sends a DELETE request for the specified sub-account and processes the response. Tests cover HTTP 204, 403, and 404 responses.
Example and documentation updates
examples/sub-accounts/all.php, README.md, examples/README.md
The example saves the created sub-account ID, calls deleteSubAccount, and prints the response status. Both README files list the sub-account operations.

Make the deletion example opt-in.

When this runnable example executes, $subAccounts->deleteSubAccount(12347) can permanently delete that sub-account and, if it is the organization’s last sub-account, the organization. Require explicit environment values before calling deleteSubAccount().

Proposed safeguard
-    $subAccountId = 12347;
+    $subAccountId = (int) ($_ENV['MAILTRAP_SUB_ACCOUNT_ID'] ?? 0);
+    if ($subAccountId <= 0 || ($_ENV['CONFIRM_SUB_ACCOUNT_DELETION'] ?? '') !== 'yes') {
+        throw new RuntimeException('Set MAILTRAP_SUB_ACCOUNT_ID and CONFIRM_SUB_ACCOUNT_DELETION=yes to run deletion.');
+    }

Confirm that the equivalent Mailtrap app examples remain accurate.

Make the deletion example opt-in.

The sample deletes hard-coded sub-account 12347 without confirmation. It can delete an unrelated sub-account or the organization if it is the last sub-account. Read the ID and an explicit confirmation from environment variables before calling deleteSubAccount().

Please also confirm that the equivalent Mailtrap app examples remain accurate.

Update the deletion flow before the deleteSubAccount() call to read the
sub-account ID and explicit confirmation from environment variables, and skip
deletion unless both are valid and confirmed. Check the equivalent Mailtrap app
