fix(core): docusaurus serve keeps the baseUrl when merging slashes (AI-assisted) - #12891
serve-handler merges repeated slashes in its redirects, but with a baseUrl, docusaurus serve strips the baseUrl from the request before calling serve-handler. These redirects drop the baseUrl and end on the homepage: /base//file redirects to /file, then to /base/.
docusaurus serve now merges repeated slashes itself and keeps the baseUrl: /base//file redirects to /base/file. This happens before the other redirects, whatever the trailingSlash value. With trailingSlash: undefined, /base//file used to serve file.html directly, and now redirects to /base/file first. Without a baseUrl, serve-handler still handles these requests.
Test Plan
pnpm test packages/docusaurus/src/commands/serve:
The /base//file rows and the /base//example.com rows of the "stays on this host" edge cases keep the baseUrl
The "drops the baseUrl when serve-handler merges slashes" edge case test is flipped to "keeps the baseUrl when merging slashes"
The serve handler now collapses repeated slashes in paths under non-root base URLs and redirects to the normalized path. Updated tests cover file serving, 404 responses, and redirect behavior.

Summary
Normalize paths before redirect selection packages/docusaurus/src/commands/serve/requestHandler.ts, packages/docusaurus/src/commands/serve/__tests__/requestHandler.test.ts
When baseUrl is not /, the handler collapses repeated slashes in the pathname and preserves the query string in the redirect. Tests verify normalized file paths and 404 responses for paths resembling external hosts.
meta/docusaurus#12883: Both PRs change redirect behavior for non-root baseUrl paths.
meta/docusaurus#12871: This PR extracts getRedirectLocation, which this change updates to normalize repeated slashes.
meta/docusaurus#12865: Both PRs address redirect handling in relation to removing baseUrl.
Merge Risk: Low · previous review c4b9f
Sites configured with a baseUrl such as /base// cannot load because redirects loop. Conventional base URLs are unaffected; merge only with awareness of this bounded compatibility regression.

Test query preservation when merging slashes.
The duplicate-slash tests omit query strings. A future change could drop search from the merge redirect without failing them. Add a query-bearing request and assert the full redirect location.

Preserve the configured base URL when merging slashes.
When baseUrl is /base//, requests to /base// redirect to /base/, which redirects back to /base//. This prevents the site from loading. Merge repeated slashes only after the configured base URL.

Motivation
serve-handler merges repeated slashes in its redirects, but with a
baseUrl,docusaurus servestrips thebaseUrlfrom the request before calling serve-handler. These redirects drop thebaseUrland end on the homepage:/base//fileredirects to/file, then to/base/.docusaurus servenow merges repeated slashes itself and keeps thebaseUrl:/base//fileredirects to/base/file. This happens before the other redirects, whatever thetrailingSlashvalue. WithtrailingSlash: undefined,/base//fileused to servefile.htmldirectly, and now redirects to/base/filefirst. Without abaseUrl, serve-handler still handles these requests.Test Plan
