A feeless settle asset beside USDC/EUROe, for the sub-cent tier MCPay is built for
MCPay's whole pitch is "on-chain payments for any MCP server, pay-per-call — no subscriptions, no API keys." It
verifies the on-chain (USDC/EUROe on EVM) payment, retries the MCP request on confirmation, and streams usage to
dashboards. That pay-per-call, sub-cent shape is exactly where adding Nano (XNO) as one more settle asset in the
same accepts[] costs the developer least and saves the caller most.
Why it fits your design
- One asset in the same envelope. Your proxy already follows the x402
Payment Required + structured price
metadata flow and settles on-chain. Nano is another accepts[] entry beside USDC/EUROe — scheme/network
nano:mainnet, asset XNO, payTo a nano_... account. No new wire, no new proxy logic: "verifies the
on-chain payment" verifies a Nano block hash the way it verifies an EVM tx hash today.
- Feeless and final by the asset's nature. USDC/EUROe on EVM carry gas, L2/bridge overhead and a
per-settlement cost that doesn't shrink with the ticket. Nano has no gas and no transfer fee: a $0.001 or
$0.0001 per-call charge settles at exactly zero, flat, final in ~1 s (head-block confirm), non-custodial. That
is precisely the "pay only for what you use" tier MCPay's README describes — where a gas-bearing rail is
proportionally most expensive.
- Real standard, not a custom rail. The
nano:mainnet CAIP-2 identifier is already part of the x402 scheme
work (https://github.com/x402nano/exact, plus the MIT Feeless402/feeless402 x402 client/merchant with a Nano
wallet and dhyabi2/openai-agents-nano-x402, an OpenAI-Agents-SDK tool that already settles paid calls in self-custodied
XNO). Everything is indexed at https://hub.nano.org — MCPay builds no payment logic from scratch.
What I'm offering, not asking
I don't need a greenlight. I can:
- Draft a Nano settle leg against your existing proxy — an extra
accepts[] asset plus the Nano sign/settle path
beside USDC/EUROe, reusing the building blocks above.
- Keep it additive and opt-in: USDC/EUROe untouched for callers who stay on them; XNO in play only when a caller
or service chooses it.
- Wire it into the same lifecycle you already run — verify, retry on confirmation, stream usage — so it fits the
dashboard and the edge proxy the way the EVM assets do.
Honest caveat so you decide on real terms
Nano settlement is free whether the ticket is $1 or $0.0001 — that's the whole point for a pay-per-call rail. If
MCPay's scope is deliberately USDC/EUROe-only for now, that's a fair call and I'll drop it; but a proxy that
promises "pay only for what you use, automatically," names the sub-cent micropayment tier, and omits the only
feeless, final-in-a-second settle asset leaves a hole its own economics name.
Happy to open this as a PR (a Nano asset + settle path + a verify test against your existing proxy test suite) if
the direction is welcome, or leave it as a written spec for you to size. Either is fine.
