Validation limits reporting to supported sources, sinks, and catalog formats. Tests cover counters, report timing, transport measurements, echo feedback, and report size limits. `moq import --stats` names a stats track in the catalog the import builds and fills it with what each rendition has written: frames, payload bytes, and video keyframes, with the connection's transport. `moq export --echo <name>` publishes the feedback a catalog solicits, counting what the export reads and its newest arrival. `moq export stats` and `moq export echo` print either as JSON lines. moq-mux counts at the container producer and the source, so every container import and export shares the counters. Capture encoders, gateways, `archive`, and `ts --program all` refuse `--stats`; MSF catalogs refuse `--echo`. Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Count a buffered frame once the container writes it, not on the way in: an abort discards the buffer. - Refuse `--echo` for an MSF catalog detected from a `.msf` broadcast, not only one named. - Refuse an echo name starting with `.`, which discovery hides. - `export echo` replaces a reader on a restart, lets one drain after its broadcast ends, and bounds the lines it queues for stdout. - A report track that refuses a write is closed with the cause and reported once, instead of logged at debug every second; a failed import aborts its stats track with the import's error. - The stats integration test joins `tests/integration`; the arrival test fakes the wall clock. `--epoch` makes instances one publisher of identical tracks, and a stats track carries this instance's own counts and transport, so the pair is refused. Each `.echo` feedback broadcast now announces a fresh epoch like every other CLI publish, so a replaced viewer reads as a restart. The echo target is a struct instead of a tuple, and the CLI page drops the edge cases and unshipped fields the API docs and quest already carry. spawn_import gained a shared-epoch argument on main, which pushed it past clippy's argument limit; the stats report now attaches to the returned Publish instead, still before any track is declared. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
--epoch is gone (moq-dev#5967), so its refusal of --stats goes with it; the stats report asks Demand::wanted (moq-dev#5930) whether anyone reads it. Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Takes moq-dev#5848's merge of main. The decoder's stats handle is `report` there, so the MPEG-TS snapshot closure becomes `report_mpegts`; main's `unplaced` and `refused` counters are omitted at zero like the rest, and the stats doc names them; a declared break is not a gap (moq-dev#5815). Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- `export stats` and `export echo` read a report with a 1 MiB cap on its reconstructed state, so patches that keep adding keys end the read instead of growing the sink. - `export echo` keeps a reader whose broadcast ended, so a start at the path replaces it, and aborts it after 5 s: the final snapshot still drains, and a track that outlives its route no longer leaves a reader behind. - A stats registry keeps the first 1,024 rendition IDs; a catalog that keeps renaming its renditions no longer grows it, or each report, without bound. Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Takes moq-dev#5848's bounds on the report sinks: a 1 MiB cap on a report's reconstructed state, a 5 s drain for an ended echo reader, and 1,024 rendition IDs per stats registry. Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…en prefixes At its 1,024 names a stats registry now drops the renditions no track counts into before it refuses a name, and logs once when every entry is live. `export stats` reads the connection root when `--connect` names the broadcast, as the other point exports do. `export echo` asks for hidden routes when its prefix names one. Takes moq-dev#5848's fixes for the review of this PR's last head: ended renditions make way at a registry's cap, `export stats` reads the connection root, and `export echo` finds a hidden prefix's feedback. Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…readers At the registry cap, a new rendition ID now evicts a single ended one, so the others keep their final counts. `export echo` forgets a reader once its drain passes instead of on the next `End`. Summary before merge: the review findings on d3c4b72 are fixed (eviction at the cap, reaping drained echo readers) or answered on their thread (no global echo reader cap), and main is merged in with the (Written by Claude Opus 5.5) |
The media reports from #5848 landed on main with the old `delta_ratio` config. Port them like moq-stats: the plain track sets `deltas: false`, the compressed track advertises a refresh ratio of 8, and each write answers a joiner past it with a fresh snapshot group. Replaces #5783, which GitHub closed when #5643 merged and its branch was deleted. Rebased onto main, which now carries #5643; nothing else changed.
Problem
#5643 defines the publisher's
statssnapshot and the viewer's.echofeedback, but nothing in Rustwrites either. The Rust reporters
quest asks moq-mux to count what each rendition carries and the CLI to publish it.
Approach
This is the import and export half. The quest file now holds the rest: the capture encoders,
moq play --echo, and gateway--stats.catalog::Producer::media/media_rawattach acounter to each track a container importer writes: frames, payload bytes, and keyframes for video.
Sourcecounts what an exporter reads: frames, bytes, and the newest arrival (timestampandwall).catalog::Producer::stats()andSource::stats()return them keyed by rendition ID. Everycontainer import and export shares them. Counts are cumulative for the process: a rendition that
ends keeps its final counts, and one that returns under the same ID continues them. A registry
holds 1,024 rendition IDs at most: past that, each new one replaces one that has ended, and with all
of them live it logs once and leaves a new one out. An fMP4 import counts samples as frames.
moq import --statsnamesstats.json(and its.z) in the catalog'sstatssection whilethe importer still holds its reservation, so the section rides the first catalog. It writes about
once a second while subscribed, with the connection's RTT, estimated send rate, and loss. At EOF it
writes the final counts whether or not anyone subscribes, and the import holds the track through
--linger, so a late subscriber still reads them. It covers the stdin imports.import capture, the gateways,
archive, andts --program allrefuse it: the capture encoders create their tracksdirectly and do not count yet, and
--program allbuilds a catalog per program.moq export --echo <name>follows the catalog'sechosection and publishes<prefix>/<name>.echowithfeedback.json(and its.z). Each catalog update reconciles it, andthe broadcast is retracted when the export ends. The catalog finishing does not end it, since the
export still drains its delayed tail.
--echocovers the stdout container exports, and refuses--catalog-format msf, which carries noechosection.moq export stats/moq export echoprint reports as JSON lines.statsfollows abroadcast's stats track until the broadcast ends, reading the connection root when
--connectnames the broadcast.
echoprints{"broadcast", "feedback"}for every.echobroadcast under--broadcast, hidden prefixes included when named, reading one that ends for 5 s more for itsfinal report. Both stop reading a report whose reconstructed state passes 1 MiB.
doc/bin/cli.md§ Stats and feedback,doc/concept/stats.md, and the quest rewritten forthe remaining half.
.echofeedback broadcast announces a fresh epoch, like every other CLI publish, so areplaced viewer reads as a restart.
