Plans the follow-ups the maintainer settled in a /quest-plan interview on 2026-11-01. The sources were that day's /quest-complete sessions and moq-dev/quest#290's milestone split. Branched from main after #290 landed. Main then merged moq-dev/quest#350 without conflicts.

New quests

m0, land work (ranked with the existing land quests):

m0, CLI and agents (at the end of m0, before the recurring Review harness check):

m0, kix:

m1:

Edits to existing quests

Decisions (user, 2026-11-01, /quest-plan)

The maintainer picked all 15 and accepted these milestones. Land items in m0 go next to the land quests, and the rest go at the end of m0.

  1. Fixer-container TLS: ✅ plan it, [S], in the host-land epic, with the fix in kixelated/nixos
  2. CRITICAL comment on a merged PR after a post-squash tree_mismatch: ✅ plan it, [XS], m0
  3. status-landing: ✅ move from m2 into m0, beside the land quests
  4. quest review against the merge base, and on a detached HEAD: ✅ plan it, [S], m0
  5. Stub cleanup, plus quest init refreshing unedited outdated stubs: ✅ plan it, [S], m0
  6. Merge-driver upkeep (quest check --fix or similar, upgrading old drivers, keeping quest-pinned current): ✅ plan it, [S], m0
  7. Worktree hooks in this repository: ✅ plan it, [S], m0
  8. Live-check Claude's other worktree routes: ✅ plan it, [S], m0
  9. Spotlight off in this repo's macOS CI: ✅ plan it, [XS], m0
  10. quest review through a gateway or provider: ✅ plan it, [S], m0, passing the variables through instead of blocking them
  11. opencode adapter on @opencode/sdk 2.x: ✅ plan it, [M], m0
  12. Runners publish the App's quest review check: ✅ plan it, [M], m0 kix
  13. The inbox flags a missing review before the merge click: ✅ plan it, [S], m1
  14. Re-plan the 5-minute worker/coordinator split and gate tickets: ✅ plan it, [M], m1
  15. Edits to existing quests (Setup PR, protected-commit, host-land, ci-read-only, review-harness): ✅ all

Not planned: CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR breaking tests is covered by Agent test environment, which queued moq-dev/quest#340 finishes. The moq-dev/moq quest pin bump is planned separately in moq's own tree.

Choices made without asking

  • Placement of the Setup PR question. The interview said to place it but not where. I used Pick repositories after installing the App #349's own suggestion: a short form shown only on rows with no Quest files.
  • Review harness stays last in m0. The new CLI and agent quests sit just above Review harness check, the milestone's recurring closing check, not below it.
  • Review handles expired logins was narrowed, so its environment-credential work isn't planned twice. That work moved to Review through a gateway, along with the 2026-10-30 decision behind it. The new decision replaces that decision's "strip what redirects billing" for the gateway and provider variables. The title and m0 link text changed with it.
  • Worktree hooks here cites quest: plan rebuilding conflicted lockfiles from the base's copy #359 as one of its sources, as the brief gave it. Neither quest: plan rebuilding conflicted lockfiles from the base's copy #359's body nor its threads mention hooks or PATH, so that link may be a typo.

Checks

  • quest check and quest check --base origin/main: 96 documents ok.
  • just check passes.

Fifteen follow-ups the maintainer settled in a /quest-plan interview:
land work (fixer TLS, squash-mismatch comment, landing status), CLI and
agent fixes, runner review checks, and two m1 quests. Also brings
existing quests in line with #349, #276's close, validateFix, #246, and
#341.

#339 finishes and deletes review-login, including reviewing
with credentials from the environment. Narrowing it here would conflict
with that deletion, and the gateway quest would plan that work twice.

Walkthrough

The change adds and updates planning documents across the m0 and m1 milestones. The plans cover review behavior, landing and merge workflows, skill and worktree handling, CI and runner tooling, Kix project setup, and worker caching. Milestone indexes gain links to several plans, and the m2 index removes its current landing-status entry.

Merge Risk: Low · previous review ae3fa

This PR only adds and updates planning documents, so nothing changes at runtime. Several plans leave gaps that could cause security or correctness problems when implemented: review-check conclusion mapping, reviewer independence, and the scope of gateway passthrough. Tighten those plan sections before merge, or accept them as follow-ups.

- #351's gate (`cloudflare/src/github/review.ts`) already counts a
completed, successful `quest review` check run by this App on the exact
head. Nothing writes one yet, and the author's `## Review` record never
counts on a commit an App committed, so every runner head needs a person's
approval today.
- The runner process, not the agent, runs the review, so the agent cannot
fake it. It sends the result to kix over a new runner protocol message.

Map the review result to the check conclusion.

quest review exits with code 0 when it reports findings. If the runner maps process completion to a successful App check, the land gate can accept a head that still has findings. The plan does not state this mapping. Add it so that a successful check requires an empty findings list.

Suggested plan addition
 - The runner process, not the agent, runs the review, so the agent cannot
fake it. It sends the result to kix over a new runner protocol message.
+- Map the review result to the check conclusion. Publish `success` only
+ when `findings` is empty. Publish a non-success conclusion when it is not.
+ `quest review` exits 0 when it reports findings, so do not map process
+ completion to `success`.

Add a test for the findings path.

Enforce an independent reviewer account before accepting the App check.

The goal requires the other vendor's account, but the runner protocol carries only an opaque account ID. It does not carry or validate the agent and reviewer vendors. quest review also accepts an explicit reviewer harness without comparing it to the agent account. Define the binding and reject same-vendor or unavailable-reviewer runs before publishing a successful check.

Track the nixpkgs pin bump as a separate quest.

This plan allows the nixpkgs bump to land in the same PR as the SDK migration. Track that pin bump as its own quest and make this quest depend on it instead.

As per coding guidelines, “A release or pin bump that unblocks work is its own quest.”

- [moq-dev/quest#339](https://github.com/moq-dev/quest/pull/339) lets a
reviewer keep the credential its own CLI reads from the environment, and
passes `CODEX_API_KEY` when `codex login status` fails. It still strips the
variables that send requests to a gateway or another provider, and blocks
credentials while one is set, as the review-login quest's 2026-10-30
decision asked. That decision kept stripping variables that redirect
billing. This one supersedes it for the gateway and provider variables in
the Goal, because the maintainer routes reviews through them on purpose.
- Reuse the gateway and cloud-routing tests from closed

- Keep the managed agents' (`quest agent`) account isolation as it is. If a
credential is still stripped on purpose, the error names the variable
instead of saying "not logged in".

Scope provider passthrough to quest review.

quest review and managed agents share STRIPPED. If these provider variables are removed from that shared filter, launchEnvironment() also passes them to quest agent alongside its selected key. That breaks the plan's requirement to preserve managed-agent account isolation.

Use a review-only filter, keep STRIPPED unchanged for launchEnvironment(), and test allowed and denied variables on both paths.

Introduce a review-only environment filter for `quest review` so its
provider-variable passthrough does not change the shared `STRIPPED` behavior
used by `launchEnvironment()` for managed agents. Preserve managed-agent account
isolation, and add tests verifying allowed and denied variables on both review
and managed-agent paths.

- [moq-dev/quest#348](https://github.com/moq-dev/quest/pull/348)'s merge
fixes were reviewed from a differently named local branch, because the PR's
branch was checked out in another worktree. `review()` refuses a detached
`HEAD` ("check out the branch to review") and keys the session state by
the branch name. Accept a detached `HEAD`, and key its session so that
later rounds on the same work resume it, for example by the PR or by a
name passed on the command line.

Specify the detached-session identity.

The plan lists a PR or a command-line name, but does not define the required input, precedence, or behavior when neither is available. A branch-derived key resumes only when worktrees use the same branch name; it does not identify a detached checkout or a differently named local branch. Define a stable repository-scoped key and test two rounds from detached worktrees without session collisions.

Clarify the detached-HEAD session identity used by review(): define a stable

State when removal occurs.

SubagentStop releases a checkout. WorktreeRemove removes it. A stopped subagent remains restorable through SubagentStart. Clarify that “removed” is later WorktreeRemove cleanup, not a stop-time action. Otherwise the acceptance test can require behavior that breaks resume.

Update the checkout lifecycle description to distinguish `SubagentStop`
releasing a checkout from the later `WorktreeRemove` cleanup that removes it;
preserve the ability to restore a stopped subagent through `SubagentStart`.

kix's inbox shows, on each PR item, when no review counts on its head yet,
with the reason the land gate would give. A maintainer sees it before
picking merge, instead of having the click refused.

Align the flag condition with the land gate.

land-review.md permits landing without a counted review after a conflict-free base merge or an unchanged reviewer patch. The current goal can flag those allowed cases as missing review. Define the inbox flag from the same exact-head predicate, including its exemptions and repository-specific review rules.

Update the Kix inbox flag condition to reuse the land gate’s exact-head review
predicate, including its conflict-free base-merge and unchanged-reviewer-patch
exemptions and repository-specific review rules, so it flags only PRs the gate
would refuse for lacking a counted review.
