Description
This PR restores functionality from MuseScore 3 that allows plug-ins to be ‘dockable’ — i.e. to display their interface in a resizable panel within the score window, initially docked on the right. This will allow users to interact with the score without a floating plug-in window covering it, which for some plug-ins (such as my in-progress Proofreading plugin, would be a very useful addition.
Docked plugins used to be available in MuseScore 3, but was this feature was removed in MuseScore 4. This PR reinstates the facility.
I have tried to keep the changes as minimal as possible. The code uses existing docking functions, including MuseScore's control of resizing, floating and redocking the panel. Only one docked plugin at a time is supported; running another docked plugin will replace it. Closing the panel, disabling the plug-in or switching scores or parts will close and dispose of the active plugin.
Ordinary plug-ins retain their existing behaviour. You can even run a dialog plugin while the docked plugin is open.
I tested the plugin by building MuseScore and using a test dockable plug-ins (attached here). I manually tested resizing, floating, redocking, keyboard focus, score interaction, undo/redo, panel closure and switching between dockable plug-ins.
Other technical aspects
DockPanelView.dockfrom MuseScore 3 for the API.dockAreacurrently reports "right" (I decided to have a right-only plugin panel).Complete only if applicable:
