add hidden race checks for real and interpolated frames, including runs limited to four cpu cores. uses the renderer changes in patchzyy/aurora-wiicompiled#6.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added hidden-window mode for boot races while keeping audio enabled. Hidden and headless modes require a boot race; headless mode continues to silence audio. Fatal popups are suppressed in both modes.
    • Added per-frame timing traces and a command-line analyzer for reviewing stutter and presentation cadence, with configurable warmup and timing anchors.
    • Added a Windows benchmark runner with configurable test runs and per-run and aggregate results. It can flag display-limited interpolation targets.
  • Documentation
    • Clarified how to enable per-frame timing traces.

Walkthrough

The runtime now emits benchmark readiness and frame timing data for hidden CPU races. A new analyzer evaluates frame-trace CSV files, and a Windows benchmark runner executes configured test matrices and records results.

Changes: Frame-trace benchmarking

Layer / File(s) Summary
Runtime trace instrumentation and hidden race launch
aurora-main, runtime/include/perf_stats.h, runtime/src/hle/boot_race.cpp, runtime/src/main.cpp, runtime/src/perf_stats.cpp, .github/workflows/build.yml, .github/workflows/recomp-test.yml
The runtime accepts --hidden for boot races, reports readiness once in the CPU-driven branch, and sends elapsed-frame and wait durations to Aurora. Frame tracing enables timing collection without performance-log output. The subproject reference and .NET workflow versions are updated.
Trace parsing and stutter analysis
runtime/tools/analyze_stutters.py, runtime/tools/test_analyze_stutters.py
The analyzer validates trace files, selects timing anchors, calculates cadence and stutter evidence, and reports interpolation status. Tests cover trace formats, timing anchors, display limits, and analysis results.
Benchmark matrix setup and execution
runtime/tools/benchmark_stutters.py, runtime/tools/test_benchmark_stutters.py
The Windows runner validates inputs, prepares isolated benchmark cases, launches hidden races, analyzes recorded traces, and writes case and aggregate results. Tests cover configuration generation, validation, readiness polling, and process shutdown.

Minor · Reject incomplete traces before writing benchmark results. · benchmark_stutters.py:315-321

🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Reject incomplete traces before writing benchmark results.

The timeout path stops the game before analyze(). analyze() can report lost samples or a truncated final row, while the current gates still pass when only a small tail is missing. The runner then persists stutter statistics that can omit a stutter at the end of the measurement.

Suggested fix
         result = analyze(trace, args.warmup, fps or 60)
+        if result["lost_trace_samples"] or result["truncated_final_row"]:
+ raise RuntimeError(f"{label}: incomplete trace; see log")
         log_text = (output / f"{label}.log").read_text(encoding="utf-8", errors="replace")

In the benchmark result validation after analyze(), reject incomplete traces
when result["lost_trace_samples"] or result["truncated_final_row"] indicates
missing data, before persisting benchmark results. Keep the existing validation
gates unchanged.

fixed: traces with lost samples or a truncated final row are now rejected before saving results. ci now uses an exact sdk version to avoid the broken download redirect.
