Summary

Phase 2 of the config rebrand (follows #35; replaces #36, which GitHub auto-closed when its stacked base branch was deleted on merge). Hard rename — old locations are no longer read.

.opencode/ → .codev/

  • Project walk-up and ~/.codev discovery in both config subsystems (packages/opencode/src/config/paths.ts, packages/core/src/config.ts)
  • Config-dir gates and TUI config dir filters, TUI theme discovery, plugin install root, TUI plugin theme install, codev agent create, codev mcp add candidates, session plan directory (.codev/plans), and the plan-file permission patterns
  • UI tips, skill descriptions, bundled customize-opencode skill content, specs, and docs (EN + ES)

XDG app dir codev-code → codev (packages/core/src/global.ts)

  • Global config is now ~/.config/codev/; data/cache/state/log/tmp dirs follow (~/.local/share/codev, etc.). Existing installs will re-seed; old codev-code dirs are abandoned by design.
  • Docs' global-path mentions updated to ~/.config/codev/

Docs/policy

  • DIVERGENCES.md: updated the global.ts and exercise-environment rows, added a config-dir rename row, and fixed the known-gaps note (~/.local/share/codev)
  • AGENTS.md (CLAUDE.md symlink target): default branch corrected dev → main, with a DIVERGENCES.md row

Deliberately kept: ~/.opencode/bin install/uninstall paths (binary location, not config), the ai.opencode.managed MDM plist domain, opencode.ai URLs, @opencode-ai/* package names, and identifier names like ProviderV2.ID.opencode / theme asset keys.

Test plan

  • bun typecheck in packages/core, packages/opencode, packages/tui, packages/app, packages/desktop, packages/session-ui (pre-push turbo typecheck green)
  • Full bun test in packages/core (1075 pass) and packages/app; test/config, test/plugin, test/skill, test/server, test/tool, test/agent, test/cli, test/provider in packages/opencode — green (two known-flaky tui epilogue tests also fail on main)
  • HttpApi exerciser coverage mode: 208 pass / 0 fail
  • Smoke: scratch project with .codev/agents/smokey.md + codev.jsonc and a decoy .opencode/agents/ — codev agent list shows only the .codev agent, config loads, and ~/.config/codev/ + ~/.local/share/codev/ are created

Hard rename of config directories from .opencode to .codev: project
walk-up and ~/.codev discovery in both config subsystems, TUI config and
theme discovery, plugin install root and TUI plugin theme paths, agent
create, mcp add candidates, session plan paths, and permission patterns.

Also renames the XDG app dir from codev-code to codev, so the global
config lives at ~/.config/codev/ (data, cache, state, log, and tmp dirs
follow). Old .opencode/ dirs and codev-code XDG dirs are no longer read.

Out of scope: ~/.opencode/bin install paths (binary location) and the
ai.opencode.managed MDM plist domain.

UI tips, skill descriptions, bundled skill/command content, specs, and
docs (EN + ES) updated to match.

The dogfooding config dir must follow the discovery rename or the
repo's local agents, commands, skills, and tools stop loading. Inner
opencode.jsonc becomes codev.jsonc, internal path mentions updated, and
the opencode-local reference now points at ~/.local/share/codev.
