Removes .github/CODEOWNERS. It has never worked.

  • Its only line is * simplify9/reviewers, which is missing the @. GitHub's CODEOWNERS check reports "Invalid owner" on line 1, so no review has ever been requested through it.
  • The reviewers team it names was deleted on 2026-11-04 during the org teams cleanup.
  • Review is still required. The org ruleset "Default branch: PR + team approval" requires an approval from @simplify9/code-reviewers on every PR into main, and this PR does not change that.

Nothing changes except the "Invalid owner" error goes away.

Before merging, note: a push to main runs this repo's publish/deploy workflow, which has no path filter. Merging this PR as-is would publish a new patch version (or redeploy, for SW-Surl-api) with no code change. Squash-merge with [ci skip] in the commit subject to avoid that.

  • No application code changed.

Risk

risk:low

Security-sensitive areas

  • No security-sensitive code or configuration changed.

Test coverage impact

  • No test coverage changed. No test results were provided.

Operational concerns

  • .github/workflows/nuget-publish.yml runs on every push to main and has no path filter. Merging this change to main may trigger publishing workflows.
  • Confirm the required team approval and use the repository’s intended merge procedure to avoid an unintended publish or deployment.

The .github/CODEOWNERS entry assigning simplify9/reviewers as code owners was removed.

The deletion is mergeable with release-owner awareness: this metadata-only merge matches the release workflow trigger and may cause unnecessary release activity. Coordinate the merge accordingly.

Explanation

The title "chore: remove CODEOWNERS (invalid owner, never requested reviews)" matches the only change in the changeset, which deletes .github/CODEOWNERS. It names the action and the reason, and it stays short.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description states the removal of .github/CODEOWNERS and explains why: the single entry * simplify9/reviewers lacks the @ and reports "Invalid owner". It also covers the review requirement that remains and a merge warning about the publish workflow. It fits the changeset.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation
