Why

Yarn 1 (1.22.22) with a committed yarn.lock is the standard package manager for these repos. This library still used npm's package-lock.json.

What changes

  • package-lock.json becomes yarn.lock with npm's exact versions, tarballs and integrity hashes.
  • package.json: packageManager: yarn@1.22.22.
  • .github/workflows/npm-publish.yml: npm install becomes yarn install --frozen-lockfile. npm publish stays.
  • .gitignore: ignore package-lock.json.

Proof

Check Result
npm lock vs yarn.lock 509 to 509 packages, 0 added, 0 dropped
yarn install --frozen-lockfile (node 24 and node 12) OK, yarn.lock unchanged (prepare runs tsc)
yarn build OK
yarn test 2 suites, 8 tests passed
yarn lint OK

Notes / risks

  • npm-publish.yml triggers on master, but the default branch is main, so it has never run on a push. I left that and its Node 12 setup unchanged, apart from the install line.
  • The consumer install docs (npm install @simplify9/simplyapiclient axios) are unchanged. They describe the consumer's package manager, not this repo's.
  • The branch has 2 commits (the .gitignore change landed separately). Squash on merge.

Yarn 1.22.22 with a committed yarn.lock is the standard package manager.

- package-lock.json (the only lockfile) converted to yarn.lock with npm's exact
versions, tarballs and integrity hashes: 0 versions added, 0 dropped.
- package.json: packageManager yarn@1.22.22.
- npm-publish.yml: yarn install --frozen-lockfile instead of npm install;
  npm publish is unchanged.
- .gitignore: ignore package-lock.json.

Consumer install instructions in README.md and INSTALLATION.md still say
npm install: they describe the consumer's package manager, not this repo's.
The converter wrote Yarn's two header comment lines twice. Comment lines only; the file now matches what Yarn itself writes (parse + stringify round-trip is byte-identical).

Review in Change Stack →

Summary
  • What changed: Dependency installation now uses yarn install --frozen-lockfile. The repository tracks yarn.lock, ignores package-lock.json, and declares Yarn 1.22.22 in package.json. The publish step remains npm publish.
  • Risk: risk:low.
  • Security-sensitive areas: The publish workflow and dependency installation changed. The workflow still uses GITHUB_TOKEN for registry authentication. No credential or permission changes are reported.
  • Test coverage impact: The PR description reports that yarn build, yarn lint, and yarn test passed; it reports 2 test suites and 8 tests. These results were not independently verified here.
  • Operational concerns: CI now depends on Yarn 1 and the committed yarn.lock. The workflow still triggers on master, uses Node 12, and publishes with npm. The PR description notes that the default branch is main; confirm the trigger matches the intended deployment branch.

The package manifest pins Yarn 1.22.22. The publish workflow installs dependencies with Yarn and a frozen lockfile. .gitignore ignores package-lock.json.

This PR moves installs to Yarn 1 with a frozen lockfile and does not appear to break the publish flow. The publish workflow still relies on default token permissions; adding explicit least-privilege permissions is a small follow-up that should not block the merge.

Enforce the declared Yarn version in CI.

The packageManager field does not make a plain run: yarn command select Yarn 1.22.22. This step uses the runner's preinstalled Yarn binary. A runner image update can change that binary and break or alter the frozen-lockfile install. Install or activate Yarn 1.22.22 with a pinned mechanism before this step.
