I am a software developer building an Islamic application focused on providing users with access to the Qur’an, Hadith, recitations, and related Islamic resources.
Your purpose in using this API
I intend to use the API in an Islamic application to provide users with searchable and structured access to Hadith collections. The Hadith data will be displayed within the application alongside other Islamic content, with appropriate attribution to Sunnah.com and the original Hadith collections.
The API will primarily be used for retrieving Hadith content programmatically rather than for bulk redistribution.
API rate limits
Maximum requests per second: 5
Maximum requests per day: 20,000
These are reasonable starting limits for a small/early-stage application. If you expect significantly different traffic, it’s better to state your actual expected usage rather than artificially requesting a high limit.
Is your use case better served by having an offline dump of hadith data or programmatic API access?
Programmatic API access
I would prefer programmatic API access because the application needs to retrieve Hadith data dynamically and integrate it with its search and browsing functionality. An offline dump may be useful in the future for caching and offline functionality, but API access is the primary requirement for the initial version.
What are the languages in which you would like Hadith data?
Arabic and English
If available, I would also be interested in additional translations in the future, but Arabic and English are the primary languages required for the initial application.
What programming language will your API client be in?
JavaScript / TypeScript (Node.js)
The application backend and API integration will primarily use Node.js/TypeScript.
