Auto night mode (
MODE_NIGHT_AUTO_BATTERY) uses the battery saver state in AppCompat, butTheme.usingNightMode()checked the system dark setting for it. So with battery saver on and the system in light mode, the app loaded dark resources but still applied light-mode tweaks such as the white theme and dark status bar icons.usingNightMode()now usesPowerManager.isPowerSaveModefor auto, matching AppCompat.
