What changed

  • Paths: compile_all.py, serve.py, drive.mjs, xref.py and packet_table.py now use $NOSRECOMP_WORK (default C:\tools\re\work on Windows, ~/re/work elsewhere). emcc comes from $EMCC or PATH. On Linux, drive.mjs uses Playwright's bundled Chromium and drops the d3d11 ANGLE flag.
  • tools/decompile.sh: runs Ghidra headless on its own (borlanddelphi cspec) and exports functions.txt. IDR is Windows-only, so this script does not use it.
  • lift.py: these changes replace the seeds IDR used to provide.
    • It reads the unit initialization and finalization routines from the PackageInfo the entry point passes to @InitExe. Ghidra missed 617 of the 691.
    • An aligned relocated pointer to a Delphi prologue (push ebp/ebx/esi/edi followed by a push, mov ebp, esp or a stack adjustment) is accepted as a routine.
    • The sanity walk over other relocated pointers now goes up to 256 instructions. It stops when it reaches two zero bytes (data) or an aligned push ebp; mov ebp, esp (the next routine). Without those stops, a pointer to a string literal placed before a routine decoded as code and swallowed that routine.
  • Double-clicks at low frame rates: the input ring now carries the time the page saw each event, and the double-click test uses that time. Input reaches the game one state change per frame, so at about 1 fps the second click used to arrive far outside the 500 ms window.
  • PORT_LOG_INPUT / PORT_LOG_RECV (URL params): log every input event and every socket read, not only the first few.
  • recomp/web/iterate.py: the browser counterpart of iterate.ps1. It runs drive.mjs, seeds the first missing function, re-lifts and rebuilds.
  • README: new Linux section.

How it was verified

Tested on Ubuntu 24.04 against the current Gameforge client (build 5989), patched with DeveloperTools' ClientPatcher (127.0.0.1, default-to-Entwell, noscore_gf stub). Ghidra 12.1.4 plus the lifter cover 90.3% of code bytes, and Emscripten builds nostale.wasm. In headless Chromium (SwiftShader), the client went through login, the server and channel lists, character select and into the world. There it opened the inventory, double-clicked an item, answered a qnai dialog, and the fairy was worn. This is the verification run for NosCoreIO/NosCore#2575.

Known limits: with SwiftShader, NosVille renders at about one frame every 7 seconds, and the client falls behind on the server's movement packets. A small map like Chicken Farm Path runs at about 1 fps. A window with an empty body opens on entering the world. It closes with its ✕, but closing it hit a missing routine before the prologue stop was added.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added Linux support for the decompilation and browser-build workflow, with configurable work-directory and compiler locations.
    • Added an option to automatically iterate browser builds and process newly discovered code.
    • Expanded function discovery using initialization and finalization tables.
  • Bug Fixes
    • Improved mouse-event timing and input handling in browser builds.
    • Enabled continued receive and input logging when the corresponding options are set.
  • Documentation
    • Added Linux setup instructions and details about required tools and platform limitations.

Paths default to $NOSRECOMP_WORK (~/re/work off Windows) and emcc comes from PATH. decompile.sh runs Ghidra alone,
since IDR is Windows-only. To make up for IDR's seeds, the lifter takes unit initialization and finalization routines
from the init table the entry point passes to @initexe, and walks relocated method pointers up to 256 instructions
before giving up on them. iterate.py is a seed loop over the browser build for machines without the native one.

Walkthrough

The pull request adds Linux-oriented pipeline configuration and function discovery, passes browser event timestamps through the input ring, and changes the receive logging condition.

Changes: Linux Pipeline and Function Discovery

Layer / File(s) Summary
Work directories and pipeline commands
tools/decompile.sh, recomp/wasm/compile_all.py, recomp/web/drive.mjs, recomp/web/serve.py, tools/packet_table.py, tools/xref.py, README.md
Scripts use environment variables and platform-specific defaults for work paths and tools. The new decompilation script runs Ghidra’s headless analyzer. The README adds Linux prerequisites and pipeline commands.
Function seed discovery and iteration
recomp/lift.py, recomp/web/iterate.py
The lifter recognizes additional prologue and initialization-table seeds. The iteration script runs the browser driver, checks its log for missing-code addresses, and invokes the lifter and web compiler for new addresses.

Browser Input Timestamps

Layer / File(s) Summary
Timestamped input event flow
recomp/web/worker.js, recomp/web/index.html, recomp/port/hle_user32.c
The input ring uses five-integer records with timestamps. Input polling passes mouse-event timestamps to click timing logic.

Receive Logging

Layer / File(s) Summary
Receive log control
recomp/port/hle_misc.c
ws_recv continues detailed logging when PORT_LOG_RECV is set, in addition to logging the first 20 receives.

The Linux pipeline works with the default work directory. With a custom NOSRECOMP_WORK, the documented lift step reads the wrong files. The iteration script can also seed a stale address or stop without reporting a failed browser run. Fix these two issues before merging; the timestamp source is a small follow-up.

Docstring coverage is 30.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 10 functions across 11 files. (2 skipped: 2 unsupported.)

A long method only referenced from a VMT never reached its ret within the sanity walk and was joined to the routine
before it, so a call through the VMT landed on a label instead of an entry. An aligned relocated pointer to a
push-register prologue is now an entry outright. iterate.py takes --before to reset the servers between rounds and
prints the stop when it is not a missing function.

Input reaches the game one state change per frame, so at a frame every second the second click of a double-click was processed well past the 500 ms window. The ring now carries the page's event time and the double-click test uses it. PORT_LOG_INPUT and PORT_LOG_RECV log every input event and every read.

- Around line 38-39: Update the iteration around subprocess.run and the
subsequent full.log read so each round can only consume a log produced by that
round, by removing the prior log or using a unique log path. Update drive.mjs to
report login or scenario failures distinctly from a completed run, and have the
iteration handle that failure rather than treating it as a successful run with
no missing-code entry.
