Summary

Restores _org_profile/README.md to the dense scholarly layout from comphy-lab/.github@55ebba4 so the publications sync workflow no longer re-clobbers the elegant redesign with the old badge/OSS Insight wall.

On 2026-09-21 the sync bot copied the outdated badge-wall template wholesale into comphy-lab/.github/profile/README.md. The fix is the template itself — the workflow cp step is intentional and unchanged.

Changes

  • Replaced emoji/badge/widget _org_profile/README.md with the dense scholarly profile (research themes, curated featured-repos table, join/contact).
  • Preserved <!-- RECENT_PUBLICATIONS_START --> … <!-- RECENT_PUBLICATIONS_END --> markers and the current three recent publications matching comphy-lab.org/research.
  • Pointed People/Opportunities links at the live /team and /join paths (404s on /people and /opportunities).
  • Noted in README.md that _org_profile/README.md is the source of truth and must stay dense (sync copies it wholesale).

Not changed

  • .github/workflows/sync-org-profile-publications.yml cp behavior
  • scripts/sync_org_profile_publications.py marker-update logic

Test plan

  • Confirmed publications markers survive python3 scripts/sync_org_profile_publications.py
  • Confirmed no badge walls / OSS Insight / profile-view counters / emoji section headers
  • After merge, next sync should push this dense README to comphy-lab/.github/profile/README.md

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation
    • Updated the public lab profile with a concise overview, research themes, contact links, featured repositories and publication information.
    • Clarified that the profile is the source of truth and is copied to the public organisation profile during sync.

Replace the badge/OSS Insight widget wall in `_org_profile/README.md`
with the dense scholarly layout from comphy-lab/.github@55ebba4 so the
publications sync no longer re-clobbers the redesign. Keep publication
markers and the current three recent pubs; document that the template
is the wholesale source of truth for the org profile.

Review: Restore dense scholarly GitHub org profile source template (#119)

Summary

+29/−242 across 2 files. This restores the dense scholarly org-profile template and records that the sync workflow copies that file wholesale. Publication markers and the three current papers remain intact. No P0/P1.

Findings

None.

Missing Tests

No code path changed. content-rules and build succeeded on this head. The publications-marker contract is still enforced by scripts/sync_org_profile_publications.py.

Verification Steps

  • _org_profile/README.md still contains RECENT_PUBLICATIONS_START / RECENT_PUBLICATIONS_END and the three current papers.
  • .github/workflows/sync-org-profile-publications.yml still copies _org_profile/README.md wholesale to profile/README.md in comphy-lab/.github.
  • https://comphy-lab.org/team and https://comphy-lab.org/join resolve; /people and /opportunities 404, matching the stated link correction.
  • Featured repository links resolve. The restored contact address matches the cited scholarly template.
