Problem

  1. Every Debian base-ISO bump 404s (e.g. Update Debian base ISO to debian-13.7.0-amd64-netinst.iso #727, debian-13.7.0). Debian keeps the newest point release under debian-cd/<version>/ and only moves it to cdimage/archive/ once a newer one supersedes it. The generator only tries the archive.
  2. cdimage.debian.org resolves to two addresses (mirror.accum.se), and one of them (194.71.11.173) is currently unreachable. BusyBox wget gives up on the first address, so ISO builds fail intermittently depending on the DNS answer.
  3. A failed wget -O leaves a partial file in images/, which the next local build reuses and then fails the checksum.

Fix

  • download_iso <path> <name> <url> [fallback_url...] tries URLs in order. Debian passes debian-cd/ first, then archive/.
  • Download with curl -fsSL --retry 3 --retry-connrefused --connect-timeout 30 (already in the build image). curl moves on to the next resolved address.
  • Remove the partial file after a failed attempt.

Ubuntu keeps its single URL; checksum verification is unchanged.

Verification

Unblocks #727.

Debian only moves a point release into cdimage/archive once it has been
superseded, so the archive URL 404s for the current release. That broke
every automated base ISO bump (e.g. #727, debian-13.7.0). Try debian-cd
first and fall back to the archive.

Download with curl instead of busybox wget. cdimage.debian.org resolves
to two addresses and one of them is currently unreachable; wget gives up
on it while curl moves on to the next one. Partial downloads are removed
so a failed attempt is not reused by the next build.
