description to state that `--no-default-features` compiles but disables
`quic::driver`, and that enabling `quic` still includes the unconditional
`moq-net` dependency, preventing consumers from taking the driver alone.

The driver is moq-quic's tokio runtime, so the quest moves in-tree code only and adds no quinn, noq, or web-transport dependency. Keep it in m2, since the cut ships the driver hidden, and record option 1 as provisional until the maintainer decides. The Wire change becomes the first commit, and Drop web-transport-trait's open question now covers only quic::web. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The maintainer chose moq_tokio::quic: no new crate and no feature on moq-quic. moq-net moves behind a default feature that every transport enables, and a driver-only feature drops quic's other dependencies. That breaks default-features = false builds without a transport, so the quest moves to m1 with a MIGRATE entry in its plan. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

It is a moq-tokio API break, not QUIC stack work, and the new rank stays clear of the m1 lines moq-dev#6083 edits. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

- Around line 74-75: Clarify the `quic::web` statement in the quest: specify
that only its feature and dependency placement remains unchanged, while
`quic::web::Session` still drops `Deref` and receives the replacement adapter
implementation required by `Drop web-transport-trait`; keep `quic::backend`
unchanged.
- Around line 87-88: Correct the QUIC migration guidance in the Unreleased
section of MIGRATE.md: state that the moq-net feature enables moq-net-backed
APIs, while the quic feature must be enabled to retain quic::Connection and
quic::Error exports.

Decisions (maintainer, 2026-10-20) are recorded in the quest: the driver stays at (Written by Claude Opus 5.5) |
Problem
moq-quichas no supported async driver of its own. The one moq-dev ships,moq_tokio::quic::driver, is#[doc(hidden)], and moq-tokio requires moq-net even without thequicfeature, so an application that wants moq-quic's send groups,reset_at, and receive leases under a different MoQ stack, or under no MoQ stack, has to fork quinn's async layer again.Approach
Adds
quest/m1/quic-driver.md, an [M] quest: the driver stays atmoq_tokio::quic::driver, becomes documented public API, and builds without moq-net.transport::Wire, with driver-owned counters.web-transport-traitwith it, move behind a default feature that every transport feature also enables.quic::driveralone.quicenables it plus the backend and WebTransport layers, so a driver-only build drops reqwest, notify, kio, http, web-transport-proto, rustls-native-certs, and dns-lookup.full, rustls, rustls-platform-verifier, x509-parser, serde, toml, tracing-subscriber, usage-rs, plus rcgen and rustls-webpki from the crypto-provider feature).It follows the maintainer's 2026-10-20 direction, recorded in moq-dev/moq#6083:
moq-quicpowers qmux and WebTransport, and moq takes no new work in, or dependency on, moq-dev/web-transport, noq or quinn. The Goal requires the driver-only tree to hold no crate from any of them.quest/m2/drop-web-transport-trait.mdnow leaves onlyquic::web's visibility open. This branch's changes merge cleanly with #6083; the only conflict in a test merge isquest/m1/quic/group-reset.md, between #6083 and main.Decisions
Round 1 (taken by the iterating agent, recommended options)
Wirechange land?quic::webRound 2 (maintainer: "moq-tokio::quic I think?")
moq-quic-tokiocratetokiofeature on moq-quicmoq_tokio::quic::driver, with moq-net optional. It stays adriversubmodule, sincequic::Connectionandquic::Erroralready name the MoQ backend's types.default-features = falseand no transport feature losesclient,connect,connection,listen,origin,transport, their root re-exports, and themoq_netre-export, so it lands before the cut with ars/moq-tokio/MIGRATE.mdentry. Ranked after the public model audit.Impact
