fix(relay): report the certificate-selecting SNI and keep certificates a fact - #6509
Conversation
Quest-Claim: b5cdac5f54b62195
…s a fact The auth request's `server_name` is now the SNI that selected the relay's certificate on every transport: HTTPS reads and WebSocket upgrades take it from the TLS stream, and neither the `Host` header, `:authority`, nor a WebTransport CONNECT host stands in for a missing one, on either listener stack. Hidden-route discovery follows the grant's `peer` flag instead of any verified certificate, and the auth client bounds the reply it reads. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Quest
One judgement call, open to challenge: the reply bound is a 1 MiB constant. The quest asked for a bound, and this value bounds the memory each admission in flight holds while leaving room for grants with thousands of patterns. Suggested follow-up: the (Written by Claude Opus 5.5) |

Document the TLS-over-TCP exception
Clarify that tls:// stream sessions also report no server_name. In this commit's moq-tokio path, tcp::Listener::accept_pending discards the rustls connection metadata and spawn_tcp_loop constructs Link { ..Default::default() }, so a hostname-based TLS TCP dial reaches auth with server_name: None even though it is neither plaintext nor IP-literal. As written, operators may configure hostname-scoped auth expecting these documented conditions to cover tls:// and unexpectedly refuse those cluster links.

Fixed in 42ebdc3: the auth page now lists the tls:// TCP listener among the cases with no server_name. Reporting its SNI (and a client certificate) would need qmux::tls::Server::accept to expose the rustls connection, so that is left as a follow-up rather than added to this PR.

quest/m1/auth-contract.md: the auth request reports what the connection actually negotiated, and a client certificate stays a fact for the auth server.Changes
server_nameis the certificate-selecting SNI. The HTTPS listener reads the SNI off the rustls stream (HttpStream::server_name) and hands it to/announced,/fetch, and the WebSocket upgrade's link. Plain HTTP andws://report none instead of theHostheader or:authority, since the auth request has no field that would tell a server the value was client-chosen.request_for(tokio) and the io_uring path no longer substitute the CONNECT authority or URL host when the client sent no SNI (an IP-literal dial).Cluster::scopeandscope_sessionderive hidden-route visibility from the grant'speerflag instead ofrequest.tls.is_some() || is_lan_path(..). The LAN credential's grant already setspeer, so it keeps the exemption, and a gateway request whose path merely looks like/.clusterno longer gets it.moq_auth::Clientreads at most 1 MiB of a reply, chunk by chunk, before parsing. A longer grant is an outage; a longer 401/403 body is a plain refusal.moq_auth::Request::server_name,Grant::peer, the JS contract mirror,doc/bin/relay/auth.md, anddoc/bin/relay/cluster.mdnow say what the code does. The cluster page documents the rolling-upgrade exemption where operators read aboutpeer. The consumer for every change is the relay's auth contract itself: an auth server that scopes by hostname, and the mesh's hidden
