quest: plan rebuilding conflicted lockfiles from the base's copy - #359
After quest land removed moq-dev/moq#7318 with merge_conflict, the fixer's merge of main (229973492b) rebuilt bun.lock from the PR's side. That undid moq-dev/moq#7443 and brought back two moderate bun audit advisories (GHSA-3g3m-2fjr-6pw4, GHSA-g3hv-75wg-m249). The land check missed it because bun audit runs only in Nightly (evidence). The quest replaces assets/land-fix.md's bare "regenerate lockfiles" with a rule: start from the base's copy, then run the package manager's minimal resolve so only the PR's own dependency changes get added.
Decision (maintainer, 2026-11-01, /quest-plan in moq-dev/moq):
✅ Plan it: start from the base's lockfile and regenerate, size S, in the land fixer epic (m0)
The epic Goal's fixer bullet now names the lockfile rule; the quest sits third in Required, after Attempt budget.
Registry fetches already shipped in moq-dev/quest#356, so the deleted network.md link became a note that the prompt allows them.
protected.md was replaced by Protected edits as ready commits. flake.lock stays protected, so it left the Goal's list; a fixer-written flake.lock that comes back as a ready commit follows the same rule.
Review threads: the fixer hands back when the PR's manifest no longer admits a version the base moved to; manifest changes the package manager makes (go mod tidy) must trace to the PR; the epic's docs paragraph no longer claims to finish the epic, and moved to the end of Plan.

A land fixer merge on moq-dev/moq#7318 rebuilt bun.lock from the PR's
side, undoing main's glob/minimatch advisory fix (moq-dev/moq#7443).
Plan the fixer prompt rule that starts from the base's lockfile and
regenerates with the package manager.

Walkthrough
The land fixer documentation adds a plan to rebuild conflicted lockfiles from the base branch’s copy, apply the pull request’s merged manifest changes, and run a minimal package-manager resolve. It also specifies restrictions, change-trace requirements, and hand-back behavior if rebuilding fails. The README adds the goal, records a motivating incident, and links to the plan.
Merge Risk: Moderate · previous review 0b65c
The plan can lose lockfile-only updates and leaves protected flake edits unreachable. Clarify both before merging.

Align the lockfile quest with the restructured land fixer epic: registry
fetches already shipped (#356) and protected edits now return
as ready commits, so flake.lock stays protected. Hand back when the PR's
manifest no longer admits a version the base moved to, and hold manifest
changes the package manager makes (go mod tidy) to the same trace rule.
Reword the epic's docs paragraph so it no longer claims to finish the epic.

Unverified finding
Verification ran but could not confirm this finding. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.
Qualify the automatic lockfile guarantee.
lockfile.md hands back when rebuilding fails, changes are not traceable, or the merged constraints reject the base version. These README statements say that every conflicted lockfile is rebuilt and omit those exceptions. Add the hand-back condition to both statements.

When a PR changes only a lockfile, this procedure restores the base lockfile, applies no manifest change, and runs a conservative resolve. Bun can retain the base lockfile's versions when package.json is unchanged, which can discard the PR's version or security update.
Add a hand-back rule for lockfile-only updates, or define how the fixer preserves and validates the PR's lockfile diff.

Make the protected flake.lock path reachable.
assets/land-fix.md still forbids fixer edits to flake.lock. The protected-edit quest only handles the result after validateFix rejects it. State the prompt change or dependency that authorizes the fixer to create the flake.lock edit before nix flake lock can run.
