Plans quest/m0/model-routing/kix-sessions.md, the follow-up the maintainer picked at moq-dev/quest#494's design checkpoint. kix iterate and merge jobs on an existing PR write no PR text, so their sessions leave no Implementer: line in ## Models.

Changes

  • New quest [S] kix records its follow-up sessions in m0's model-routing epic, before the moq-dev pins. It requires Commits and PRs record their models #494's quest.
  • Review fixes (agent's choices, for the implementer to revisit):
    • The Goal names the reviewer pick among the readers: quest context's Reviews section passes --exclude-model for "each implementing model the PR body records" (assets/CONTEXT.md:119), so a model a kix iterate session coded with must not review the PR locally.
    • A session records its line when it first publishes changes, at a checkpoint as well as deliver, matching the "adds its line when it first pushes" rule; a merge job that only lands adds none.
    • Readers trust the marked comment only when a GitHub App wrote it, since any commenter can copy a hidden marker. kix posts comments with its installation token (cloudflare/src/github/service.ts, #authorized), so its comments are App-authored.
    • The cited mechanism is precise: the runner's deliver sends no pull for iterate and merge jobs (src/runner/job.ts, pulled), so cloudflare/src/jobs/publish.ts returns before GitHubService.deliver.

Decisions

Settled with the maintainer in /quest-complete on 2026-11-04:

  • How should kix iterate/merge sessions be recorded?
    • ✅ A kix PR comment that the audits also read
    • Rejected: edit only the body's ## Models and exempt it from the review-record check; drop it
  • Which milestone?
    • ✅ m0, model-routing epic
    • Rejected: m1

Validation

  • just check passed on 2638536.
  • just test not run: the change is quest Markdown only, which quest check (in just check) validates.

Models

  • Size: XS
  • Implementer: Claude Code, claude-opus-5-5, unknown effort
  • Implementer: Claude Code, claude-opus-5-5, high effort

Review

Codex, gpt-6.1-sol, low effort (quest review --size XS --exclude-model claude-opus-5-5), round 1 on 2638536: no findings.

Before the round, the reviewing session checked the quest against cloudflare/src/jobs/publish.ts, cloudflare/src/github/review.ts, and #494's branch (quest/m0/model-routing/implementer) and fixed the gaps listed under Changes. The facts hold: iterate and merge jobs write no PR text, and a body edited last by anyone but the author voids its ## Review record (cloudflare/src/github/review.ts:142-143).

✅ No new issues found.

Reviewed changes: a docs-only quest-plan PR — a new quest and one epic-README row. Every source-level fact the plan cites was checked against the checkout at head 2638536, and bun run --silent quest check passes (76 documents ok).

  • New plan quest/m0/model-routing/kix-sessions.md — plans an app-authored PR comment to record kix iterate/merge sessions beside the PR body's ## Models section, with the readers the record already serves (--exclude-model in quest context's Reviews section, the m1 model check, quest usage). The cited mechanism holds: src/runner/job.ts:538 sets pulled for exactly these workflows, a pulled deliver omits pull (job.ts:742), and cloudflare/src/jobs/publish.ts:313 returns before GitHubService.deliver (:324) — no PR text is written on an existing PR. The void claim also holds: cloudflare/src/github/review.ts named() strips the author's ## Review record when the last body editor isn't the author, and kix's comments carry its installation token via #authorized (cloudflare/src/github/service.ts:469). The checkpoint tool (job.ts:599) publishes without a pull, so recording at checkpoint matches the "first push" rule. The quoted --exclude-model wording is verbatim at assets/CONTEXT.md:119.
  • Epic README entry — added in the model-routing table before the moq-dev pins, accurately summarizing the quest.
  • Dependency — the plan's narrative matches PR #494's record (the maintainer deferring exactly this follow-up there), and the Required entry anchors it by quest link rather than assuming the branch.

One sequencing note, not a defect: guidance saying "The runner already computes the line for deliver" describes the tree after #494 lands, which the Required section already orders.

quest land watch: the merge queue removed this pull request at 2638536 because its merge_group build failed (failed_checks).

The land fixer works on it in the background, and the watcher re-enqueues it at the back of the queue once it is fixed or judged flaky, or hands it back here with what it needs.

codex / Codex land fixer note:

The PR only adds planning documents and introduces no checks or runtime changes. It merges cleanly with the current base. All 1080 CLI tests and 538 Worker tests passed on that merged checkout, along with the CLI build, Worker build, deployment dry run, seeded checks, quest validation, and formatting checks. No branch changes were needed. The queue failures appear intermittent: the pull_request synchronize case of “withholds candidates after %s %j until a refresh rereads occupancy” timed out after 5000ms, and the push refs/heads/trunk case reported “expected [] to be null”. Both passed in the full Worker rerun. There is no evidence that this documentation-only PR caused those failures.

quest land watch: re-enqueued this pull request at 2638536, at the back of the merge queue, unchanged, since the land fixer judged the failure flaky: cloudflare/test/projects.test.ts: withholds candidates after %s %j until a refresh rereads occupancy (pull_request synchronize; push refs/heads/trunk).
