Ports the moved NTSC-U effect class and two vtable thunks into the function map so vtable-only methods get translated, and adds the game id to the fatal log; also brings over the perf branch (--race boot options, perf stats, gx batching, indirect-call fast path).

Fixes #345

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Start a race from the command line with --race, optionally specifying a course ID. Use --race-cpu to enable CPU-driven mode.
    • Enable performance statistics with MKW_PERF_STATS to see frame timing summaries in the logs.
  • Bug Fixes
    • Unrecognized command-line options now report which options are supported and where to configure the host.

Walkthrough

This PR adds command-line boot-race configuration and CPU-driven race hooks. It adds performance timing and changes GX-worker publication. It also updates NTSC-U address mappings, adds native interrupt-call mappings, changes guest CPU dispatch, and enables LLVM hot/cold splitting for translated builds.

Changes: Boot Race

Layer / File(s) Summary
Parse and route boot-race options
runtime/include/boot_race.h, runtime/src/hle/boot_race.cpp, runtime/src/main.cpp
The runtime parses --race, --race=<course id>, and --race-cpu. Course IDs accept decimal or hexadecimal values from 0 through 0x1F. Unrecognized options produce an error listing the accepted race options.
Initialize race scenarios and CPU-driven hooks
runtime/src/hle/boot_race.cpp
The section hook initializes a selected race with 12 racers and fixed VS settings. CPU-driven mode changes controller handling, CPU-status results, RNG seeds, and deactivated-pad results.

Performance Measurement and GX Worker

Layer / File(s) Summary
Define and collect performance statistics
runtime/include/perf_stats.h, runtime/src/perf_stats.cpp
The new PerfStats API records scoped wait durations and frame timings when enabled by MKW_PERF_STATS. It logs average, median, p95, and maximum busy milliseconds every 240 samples.
Measure runtime waits and frame presentation
runtime/include/aurora_events.h, runtime/src/hle/audio/ax_mix.cpp, runtime/src/hle/gx/gx_worker.cpp, runtime/src/hle/vi.cpp
Wait scopes cover deferred frame begin, audio mixing, GX tail waits, and VI pacing. VI records each presented frame.
Batch GX-worker publication and cache tail observations
runtime/src/hle/gx/gx_worker.cpp
The GX worker publishes after at least 2048 bytes accumulate, publishes pending work before waiting, caches observed tail positions, and publishes after its final command on stop.

NTSC-U Mappings and Guest CPU Dispatch

Layer / File(s) Summary
Update NTSC-U address mappings and map entries
projects/mkwii-ntsc-u/region_port.json, runtime/include/guest_abi/guest_versions.inc, projects/mkwii-ntsc-u/MAP.txt
Three NTSC-U address boundaries and their corresponding destinations change. The map adds address entries and two named object entries.
Add pure typed-native interrupt calls
runtime/include/guest_abi/dispatch.h, runtime/include/guest_abi/native_cpu_calls.inc
The dispatch traits identify pure typed-native calls. Mappings are added for OS interrupt disable, enable, and restore functions.
Add indirect-dispatch fast paths and compile option
runtime/include/guest_abi/dispatch.h, runtime/cmake/PublicProducts.cmake
Indirect calls and jumps try an unguarded raw-target path before falling back to slow paths. Translated compilation enables LLVM hot/cold splitting.

Race boot options, GX batching, and the NTSC-U torch crash fix show no concrete runtime failure in the reviewed evidence. The remaining issue is that the optional performance statistics can under-report frame-busy time. This is a small, low-risk follow-up that does not block merging.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title "fix ntsc-u crash on courses with torches" is a partial match. The PR objectives say it ports the moved NTSC-U effect class and two vtable thunks so vtable-only methods are translated, and it fixes issue #345, a crash during race setup. The title names the crash and the NTSC-U scope, which is the main reported problem. The changeset also contains much more: --race boot options, performance stats, GX batching, and an indirect-call fast path. The title does not mention these, so it covers only part of the changeset. The title does not mention torches-specific code in the summaries, which only lists Heyho and HwanwanBall entries. This does not make it unrelated.

Full details: Linked Issues check

Explanation

Issue #345 requires a fix for execution at untranslated guest address 0x802441AC during race setup. The whole-PR diff adds 0x802441AC to projects/mkwii-ntsc-u/MAP.txt. It also adds the surrounding moved-class addresses and the Objects::HwanwanBall::__dt(thunk) entry. These entries register the missing NTSC-U function-map targets for translation. The diff also adds the game ID to fatal logs, which improves diagnosis. No linked issue requirement for automated tests is stated.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The PR includes changes with no demonstrated connection to issue #345. These changes add --race and --race-cpu boot behavior in runtime/src/hle/boot_race.cpp, performance statistics in runtime/include/perf_stats.h and runtime/src/perf_stats.cpp, GX batching, wait instrumentation, and frame instrumentation, plus hot/cold splitting and indirect-call fast paths. Issue #345 only requires fixing the untranslated address crash. The NTSC-U map entries, related address-range updates, dispatch registration required by those entries, and fatal game-ID logging are within the crash-fix scope. The performance and boot-benchmark features are separate work.

Resolution

Remove the unrelated performance and boot-benchmark changes from this PR, or move them to a separate PR. Retain the NTSC-U function-map fix and only the runtime changes required to translate and dispatch the affected targets.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 25.71% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Analyzed 35 functions across 10 files. (5 skipped: 5 unsupported.)

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.
