Brings #413 to r10.0: the client SDK for .NET (SimplyWorks.Bitween.Client) and Node (@simplyworks/bitween-client), for seeing and retrying exchanges from a client's own app.

This release run publishes both packages for the first time, at Bitween's version. Their licence (MIT) still needs a decision: NOTICE lists only SW.Bitween.Sdk and the samples as MIT.

Summary

Summary

Adds .NET (SimplyWorks.Bitween.Client) and Node.js (@simplyworks/bitween-client) SDKs for exchange search, file access, retries, bulk operations, exports, and scheduled retries. Both exchange a service-account token for a bearer session and retry a request once after a 401. The .NET package is added to the production NuGet workflow. The release workflow publishes both npm client packages only for release versions and skips versions already on npm.

Risk

risk:medium. The clients handle service-account tokens and session JWTs, and expose retry and export operations. Confirm token handling, HTTPS use, and server-side authorization before release.

Security-sensitive areas

Both clients send service-account tokens to Bitween and use session JWTs as bearer credentials. The SDK guide advises keeping service-account tokens on a server. Retry and export access depends on account permissions. The repository NOTICE now explicitly lists both client SDKs as MIT-licensed components.

Test coverage impact

Adds .NET HTTP integration tests and Node tests using a local HTTP server. The PR workflow builds the solution and runs the .NET client tests for pull requests to release branches. The Node release workflow runs node --test. Test execution results were not supplied.

Operational concerns

The release workflow uses Bitween’s computed version and publishes only non-prerelease versions. It leaves an already-published npm version unchanged. The .NET production package workflow also includes the new client package. No migration or rollback requirements are evident from the supplied changes.

Adds .NET and Node.js client SDKs for authenticated exchange and scheduled-retry operations. The change includes query and selection APIs, session renewal, error handling, tests, package publishing workflows, and SDK documentation.

sdk/node-client/test/client.test.js: 1

74-79: Trivial · Stability & Availability · Quick win

Cover successive refused sign-ins in the Node client tests.

The two refusal tests cover only overlapping calls (sdk/node-client/test/client.test.js:72-86). #held is set only after a successful sign-in (sdk/node-client/src/index.js:278-279), and #signingIn clears when it settles (index.js:262-263). A later call with a bad token therefore sends another api/accounts/servicetoken request. docs/api-reference.md:71 states that unknown tokens count toward the address's lockout. The comment at index.js:254-258 says sharing exists to avoid repeated bad-token sends. Sequential calls still send them, and no test covers that path.

The test below pins the current per-call behavior. Whether repeated refusals should share one answer is a design decision that this change does not settle. Make that decision before changing the client.

Suggested test
+test("signs in again for each call after a refusal, with no shared refusal", async () => {
+  const { seen, client } = await fakeBitween(() => [200, page()]);
+  const stranger = client("bwt_bad");
+  for (let i = 0; i < 3; i++) await stranger.exchanges.search().catch((e) => e);
+  assert.strictEqual(seen.signIns, 3);
+});

147-147: Trivial · Maintainability & Code Quality · Quick win

Add a success-path test for scheduled retry run-now.

The only ScheduledRetries.RunNowAsync call in BitweenClientTests expects HttpStatusCode.Forbidden for an exchanges.view client. No test in this file calls RunNowAsync with an exchanges.operate client or asserts a successful result. A regression that breaks the authorized path, such as a server error or an unexpected response body, can pass this project. Add a test that books a scheduled retry, calls RunNowAsync with an operate-permitted client, and asserts that the retry executes.

159-166: Trivial · Maintainability & Code Quality · Quick win

Assert the sign-in count for the concurrent bad-token calls.

The test sends ten concurrent calls with a malformed token. It asserts only the refusal status and message, and the neighbour check. It does not count sign-in requests. The code path is designed to share one sign-in across these calls. A regression that sends two to four sign-ins would still pass. Count the token POST requests, for example with a DelegatingHandler over fixture.App.Server.CreateHandler(), and assert the expected count.

184-184: Minor · Potential issue · Quick win

Unverified finding
We couldn't verify this from the code. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.

The new client NuGet project is added to the production packaging list, but that list's test-projects names only UnitTests and IntegrationTests; the supplied context identifies HttpTests as the suite that uses the client. A client-specific HTTP regression may pass this release gate.

The release can publish a broken .NET client without running its HTTP tests.

This can occur when: A change breaks client authentication or an exchange endpoint while the listed test projects still pass.

sdk/node-client/README.md-17-17: 1

17-17: Minor · Potential issue · Low value

Unverified finding
We couldn't verify this from the code. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.

The package README links to ../../docs/client-sdk.md, a path that works from its source-tree location but may not resolve from the README rendered on npm, where only the package's src files and automatically included metadata are published.

The link may not open the SDK guide, leaving the package's principal documentation inaccessible from npm.

This can occur when: An npm user follows the advertised full-guide link from the package page.

SW.Bitween.Client/BitweenClient.cs-86-87: 1

86-87: Minor · Potential issue · Quick win

Unverified finding
We couldn't verify this from the code. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.

PostForStreamAsync returns the content stream without transferring or retaining ownership of its HttpResponseMessage; it also leaves the response undisposed if stream acquisition throws.

HTTP response resources may remain allocated after use, degrading the client under sustained exports or cancellations.

This can occur when: A caller repeatedly exports and disposes the returned streams, or cancellation occurs while acquiring an export stream.

Follow-ups from the review, fixed in #416: run-now success test added; the bad-token test now asserts one sign-in; PostForStreamAsync disposes the response if reading the stream fails; the npm README links to the guide on GitHub.

Not changed: successive refused sign-ins stay one request per call, because a sign-in can fail for a passing reason and the server's lockout already limits bad tokens. HttpTests do gate this release: dotnet-pr-checks.yml runs BitweenClientTests on every PR to releases/**, this one included.

Reject empty related-ID arrays in matching selections.

exchangeFilters drops an empty partnerIds, subscriptionIds, or informationTypeIds array. When no other criterion remains, selectionBody sends LatestOnly:1:false, which matches every attempt. When other criteria remain, the selection widens to all exchanges that match them. A bulk retry within its limit then retries eligible exchanges the caller did not select. Reject explicitly empty arrays, as matching.ids already is. Absent keys and matching: {} stay valid.

Suggested fix

+    if (selection.matching[key]?.length === 0) throw new TypeError(`matching.${key} is empty: it would widen the selection.`);

[warning] 185-185: System.Random is a non-cryptographic, predictable PRNG and must not be used to generate security-sensitive values such as tokens, session IDs, passwords, salts, nonces, or API keys. An attacker who observes a few outputs can recover the seed and predict all future values. Use a cryptographically secure source instead: RandomNumberGenerator.GetBytes(...), RandomNumberGenerator.GetInt32(...), or RandomNumberGenerator.Fill(...).
Context: Random.Shared.Next(255)
Note: [CWE-330] Use of Insufficiently Random Values.
