Read-only review of 5b2049663. I ran no tests. Lifetimes, cancellation, and error mapping in moq-ffi look right. There are two real defects, then smaller items.
Bugs
1. Concurrent grant watchers steal each other's changes.
MoqSession builds one MoqAuth (rs/moq-ffi/src/session.rs:948), and auth() returns the same Arc every time (:1114). Its changed: Task<Watch> (rs/moq-ffi/src/auth.rs:129) serializes callers on one watch with one last.
Scenario: a Kotlin app collects moq.auth().grants() in two places, which the Moq.auth() doc invites. One collector takes the None to G change, and the other stays at None until the next change. Go, Dart, Python, and Swift share the same Arc.
Suggested fix: give each watcher its own state, like recv_bandwidth()'s MoqBandwidthConsumer. For example, MoqAuth::watch() could return its own peek() / changed() consumer. Or stop caching MoqAuth.
2. add reports success for a token that is never sent.
- On moq-transport without the Auth extension, moq-net's
presentmarks the token answeredOkat once (rs/moq-net/src/auth.rs:389,answered = (!state.supported).then_some(Ok(()))). There, a token rides only on a request that names it. - The bindings cannot name a token on a request, so
MoqAuth::add(rs/moq-ffi/src/auth.rs:159-172) succeeds for a token that nothing sends. - That contradicts the moq-ffi docs: "
Unsupportedwhen the session cannot carry another token" and "elsewhere the grant staysNone". - OBS (
cpp/obs/src/moq-output.cpp:593) would log "MoQ relay accepted the new publish token" and cancel the previous one. moq::versions()is built fromVersions::all(), so the IETF drafts are reachable.
Suggested fix: return Unsupported from moq-ffi unless the session itself speaks AUTH, and add a test on an IETF version. This is worth settling alongside #6109, which reworks the same dispatch.
Risks and nits
- macOS bash 3.2.
test/interop/interop.sh:679,682,685,828,831,834expand a bare"${auth[@]}"underset -u. That errors whenauthis empty (COMPAT=1). Line 264 already guards this case with${flag[@]+"${flag[@]}"}. - OBS records a token as presented too early.
cpp/obs/src/moq-dock.cpp:702setspresentedTokenwhenPresentTokenreturns true, which only means the request went out. After a refusal, re-entering the same token is skipped as unchanged, and the dock never shows the refusal. Suggest updating it from the completion callback and surfacing refusals in the status label. - Tests weaker than they read:
- The server-session (
Handle::Session) success path ofadd/closedis never exercised. That includes theCanceltoOkmapping atauth.rs:107-110. - No wrapper test covers a
Protocolrefusal code. - The OBS test checks only that
PresentTokenreturns true, not the outcome or the cancel. - The Swift grant loop has no timeout and can hang CI.
- The server-session (
- Dart
grants()emits the first grant twice (dart/moq/lib/src/client.dart:283).grant()is yielded, then the firstgrantChanged()returns it again, because the watch starts atNone. Kotlin hides this withdistinctUntilChanged(Flows.kt:64), so the bindings differ.
Unfinished, and questions
- The quest has each wrapper test add a second token, see the union grow, and release it. Only moq-ffi covers that (open decision 5).
- Swift has no grants stream (open decision 7).
just test interopwas not run the standard way.- OBS does not work end to end yet: lite-07 is not offered, and reconnects still dial with the expired URL token. Does that meet "handed a new one without the plugin reconnecting", or should it wait on token-in-band?
- The
doc/lib/*pages say AUTH is lite-07 only, while the moq-ffi doc also names moq-transport with the Auth extension.
(Written by Claude Opus 5.5)
…sends - `MoqSession::auth()` returns a new handle per call, each watching the grant on its own and starting from the grant it was made with, so concurrent watchers no longer steal each other's changes and `grants()` never repeats the first grant. - `MoqAuth::add` refuses a token with `Unsupported` when the session cannot send it: moq-transport without the Auth extension accepts one only for the requests that name it, which no binding can. - moq-tokio publishes a token's grant before `add` returns. - OBS keeps the relay's refusal for the dock and presents a retyped token again. - Docs: AUTH also rides moq-transport draft-17+ with the Auth extension. - interop.sh guards empty arrays for bash 3.2; the Swift grant wait has a watchdog. WalkthroughThe change adds session authorization APIs to the FFI and exposes grant and token operations through Dart, Go, Kotlin, Python, and Swift bindings. It adds tests for grants, token lifecycle, and unsupported protocols, and extends interop checks to additional clients. In OBS, users can edit tokens while streaming; the dock presents eligible edits on the active session and reports refusals. Priority: ➖ Normal Merge Risk: ⚪ Minimal · up to

Normalize clean closes for connection-backed tokens
When a token on a reconnecting client is accepted and the peer later closes its AUTH stream normally, such as when the server drops its Issued handle, moq_tokio::connection::auth::Auth::closed() returns MoqNet(Error::Cancel), and this branch maps that to MoqError::Cancelled. The session-backed branch immediately above instead treats the same clean close as Ok(()), matching the exported MoqAuthToken::closed contract. Bindings therefore report a spurious cancellation only for client sessions; normalize the connection result's MoqNet(Cancel) to success before applying map_closed_error.

Agreed, fixed at the source in 32161b3. moq-tokio's connection token task now ends cleanly when the peer closes the token without an error, so connection::auth::Auth::closed() returns Ok there, the same as the moq-net session arm. auth_tokens_join_and_leave_the_union adds a token the server closes by dropping its Issued, and expects closed() to be Ok. It fails with Cancelled without the fix.

moq-net reports a clean close as Cancel, which the connection's token task surfaced as an error, so client sessions in the bindings saw Cancelled where server sessions saw success. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

…notices - moq-tokio's connection refuses a token as unsupported when its session accepts it without AUTH, so a reconnect between the answer and moq-ffi's check can no longer turn an accepted token into Unsupported. - The OBS dock keeps why a token edit was not presented until the next one, instead of losing it on the next status refresh. Resolves the conflicts with #6137: moq-tokio's connection::auth stays deleted, so moq-ffi's auth wrapper collapses onto the one moq_net::auth::Handle, as #6137 decided for whichever landed second. Tests from main that build a session's handle use auth::Link. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
moq-dev#6137 landed on main first and moq-dev#6109 has since merged main and collapsed moq-ffi's auth dispatch, so this takes moq-dev#6109's ffi auth.rs. The configured token holder sits beside moq-dev#6109's new redirect tracking in the reconnect loop. token-in-band.md is deleted, and bindings-polish.md no longer requires it. MoqSession::auth()returns a new handle per call instead of one cached handle, and each starts from the grant it was made with. This keeps the acceptedgrant_changed()shape.
