The paused handshake used to box its moq-transport continuation. Box the legacy bidi SETUP path and moq-tokio's held handshake again, so a debug build's accept task fits its thread stack. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Walkthroughmoq-net now erases concrete transport types behind a boxed transport. Session drivers, server handshakes, and relay request types no longer carry transport type parameters. The lite-specific client and server connection methods were removed; integrations now use the general connection APIs, with Local wrappers for io_uring transports. Migration guidance and milestone audit notes were updated to describe the API and transport changes and record moq-net compilation as fixed. Priority: ➖ Normal Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to

Preserve the stream-eviction counter when boxing
When a transport reports Stats::streams_evicted() (both moq-tokio and moq-uring do), every client and server entry point now routes its statistics through this snapshot, but Stats::read does not copy that value and the boxed Stats does not override the method. The session sampler therefore receives the trait default of None, so Session::stats().streams_evicted can no longer expose actual receive-window evictions; carry this field through the erased snapshot like the other counters.
Useful? React with 👍 / 👎.

Fixed in fe3816e: the boxed snapshot now copies and reports streams_evicted, the only transport::Stats method it was missing.

Document the SendStream::Group bound.
Boxable also requires the session and each SendStream::Group to satisfy the native Send and Sync bounds. This note mentions only stream requirements, so custom transport authors can follow it and still fail at Client::connect or Server::accept_request. State the complete bound.

+Every session now takes a `transport::poll::Boxable` transport. On native, the session, its streams, and each send group's type must be `Send` and `Sync`.
A `!Send` transport wraps itself in a type that checks the thread on use, such as `moq_uring::transport::Local`.
`Client::connect` and `Server::accept_request` are plain functions returning `impl Future`, so call them as before with `.await`.

Close the transport while the paused streams are still alive.
In RequestInner::close, the IetfModern(paused) and Legacy(paused) arms move only session and version out of paused. The remaining fields drop when the let statement ends, which is before close(&mut session, ...) runs. For Legacy, that remainder includes the bidi stream. Dropping an unfinished in-memory send stream resets it. On a refused handshake, the peer can therefore see a RESET_STREAM before the CONNECTION_CLOSE that carries the real code, such as Unauthorized. A peer that closes over the reset never sees that code.
The LiteSetup { session, version, .. } arm does not have this problem, because its unbound client_setup stays in self until the function returns.
Keep each paused state alive through the close. Close the session in each arm, while the matched binding is still in scope:

quest/m1/net-erase-transport.md.Summary
moq-net's session drivers were generic over the transport, so every transport and every crate that instantiated them got its own copy, and fat LTO kept the duplicates. The transport is now boxed at the session entry points (
Client::connect,Server::accept,Server::accept_request) behind crate-private erased traits, so the lite and IETF session code compiles once.transport::boxed(crate-private) erases the session, send stream, recv stream and send group.poll_write_bufpasses&mut dyn Buf, which forwardscopy_to_bytes, soByteswrites stay zero-copy. A group handed back to its transport is recovered by downcast.transport::poll::Boxableis the single bound for every entry point. Its streams must now beSyncon native as well asSend.!Sendtransport (moq-uring) wraps itself inmoq_uring::transport::Local, which checks the thread on use. The separate unboxed_litepath is gone.Requestboxes the handshake and the legacy (draft-14 to 16)okpath isBox::pinned, so the accept futures stay small. Without that, moq-c's debug test overflowed its thread stack (Request328 to 1064 bytes). After:Request320 bytes,Request::ok4336 (was 6928), moq-netaccept2928 (was 4208).No wire change.

Settled by the maintainer (2026-10-21): every recommendation below is accepted.
DriverandHandshakeare non-generic, entry points takeimpl Boxableand box at once, the_liteentry points are removed. Alternatives were a generic shim beside the boxed path (refused by the repo's no-shim rule) or leaving it generic (keeps the duplicate copies). Recommend as implemented.!Sendtransports. Implemented: requireBoxable(plusSyncstreams) everywhere, and moq-uring wraps its session intransport::Local, which costs a thread check per call on the io_uring path. The alternative is a second erased flavor for local transports, which brings back a second copy of the session code. Recommend as implemented.Follow-ups
