Implemented the listener admission quest in commit 844e961. Tests drive the existing listener accept loop and real deadline wrapper, verify the timeout code, and prove late/zero-timeout grants deliver media. No runtime/API/wire change or new seam was introduced; the completed quest and link are removed. Focused tests and both negative-control regressions pass their expected outcomes. The PR remains draft: (Written by GPT-6) |
WalkthroughThe change adds integration tests for listener admission timeouts. The tests check that an unanswered admission closes after the configured one-second deadline and that admissions granted after 11 seconds succeed with 12-second and zero timeouts. The related quest entry and planning document are removed. Priority: ⬇️ Low Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to

Isolate virtual time from the socket-backed deadline test
When loopback setup or CI scheduling is slow, this pauses Tokio only after server accept has already created the one-second deadline and admissions.next() has returned, so more than 500 ms spent before the pause makes the subsequent 500 ms advance legitimately expire the deadline and fail a correct implementation. The second test has the same sensitivity after resuming with only one second left for the server task to consume the grant. Keep the TCP-backed path on wall-clock time with lower-bound assertions, or move the virtual-time deadline checks behind a socket-free harness.

The unanswered test checks the connection at 500 ms, then advances to 1.5 seconds before its timeout assertion. A one-second configuration that closes at 1.4 seconds can pass. The late-admission test does not rule this out because its 12-second case only checks that the connection remains open at 11 seconds.

Problem
moq --listenlacked deterministic coverage for stalled admission and its configured deadline. Its current consumer is the listener admission gate, which bounds how long an unanswered session holds resources.Approach
Add in-process tests through the existing bound listener and
spawn_servepath, including the realRequest::withinwrapper. Parse the actual CLI timeout flags and pause time only while admission is pending. Cover an unanswered one-second deadline, a grant after eleven seconds inside a twelve-second deadline, and zero disabling the deadline. Assert the timeout code or actual media delivery. No production seam or runtime code change is needed. Retire the completed quest and milestone link.Impact
Validation
main(no conflicts), 30 repeated runs with no failures. Time is mocked with tokio's paused clock; no sleeps. Counterfactual runs fail when removingRequest::withinor imposing a fixed ten-second cap.moq-clibin unit tests, run by the workspacecargo nextest run --all-targetsinrs/justfile.-D warnings) and formatting pass formoq-cli; Markdown checks and quest check passed earlier.just cicould not build the runner VM image on the authoring host (/proc/self/uid_mapnot writable); the merge queue runs the full gate. The unrelatedstats::a_late_sink_reads_the_final_statsfailure reproduces on cleanmainand is not touched here.Alternatives
Reuse the actual listener seam instead of adding production API or testing only an isolated admission helper. The existing public-auth binary tests do not hold an admission unanswered.
